  • Recectly, development of expert system utilizing the domain specific knowledge focuses upon the machining operations. This paper describes an expert system for selecting the optimum grinding wheel based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process and Fuzzy Logic. Knowledge-base, in this system, for selecting of grinding wheel is designed to appling the knowhow and experience knowledge of skilled hands. In this paper, firstly determination method of fuzzy membership function utilizing the qualitative knowledge, and then selection of the optimum wheel from among the available components according to Saaty's priority rule are described. Lastly,some implementation results are suggested.

  • A new anion receptor utilizing carbamate functionality as hydrogen bonding site has been designed and synthesized. This new receptor 2 has two amide hydrogens and two carbamate hydrogens anchored at 1,8-position of anthracene. These four hydrogens form a concave structure for the anions and the receptor 2 was found to be a selective receptor for acetate among the anions investigated.

  • A negative photoresist formulation was developed utilizing synthesized UV monomers containing imide linkage, photoinitiator, UV oligomer, and alkali developable polymer matrix. It was found that via-holes with good resolution, high transmittance and thermal resistance could be obtained by photolithographic process utilizing the negative-type photoresist formulations.

  • Unrestricted measurement method of three-dimensional walking distance utilizing body acceleration and terrestrial magnetism is discussed. The three-dimensional walking distance is derived by the integration of the three dimensional acceleration of foot during swing phase. Since the sensor system attached on the foot rotates during swing phase, the acceleration data measured on the foot include acceleration of gravity which causes inaccurate calculation of the velocity and the distance.   • Utilizing an interconnected set of neuron-like elements, the present study is to provide a method of parameter estimation for a second order linear time invariant system of self-tuning controller. The result from the proposed method is evaluated by comparing with those obtained by the recursive least square (RLS) identification algorithm and extended recursive least square (ERLS) algorithm, and it shows that, although the smoothness of system performance is still to be improved, the effectiveness of shorter computing time is demonstrated which may be of considerable value to real time computing.

  • In this paper, the problem of regulation in the presence of a known firing disturbance is considered. We show how one can apply a disturbance-utilizing control(DUC) theory to a actual gun servo model. Applied disturbance-utilizing control theory is established by combining LQ regulator and reduced order observer in the discrete time domain. To see the performance of the applied method, computer simulation results are given.

  • After constructing master model utilizing CAD data originated by sketch, product NC data for polyurethane foam using digitized master model data. And model cutting is performed utilizing specially developed polyurethane foam cutting tool in machining center. In this study, it is discussed to construct concept of tool offset, method of tool offset and feature tolerance, etc., that is impossible for cutting of the polyurethane foam by CNC machine.

  • In this paper, utilizing a haptic display for 3D modeling practice is proposed. A haptic display called PHANTOM Omni providing 3D position as well as touch feeling is used to investigate how effectively the proposed practice works compared to the conventional ones for 3D modeling. Experimental results showed the proposed practice can provide positive effect for 3D modeling: improving the task completion time and lowering task workload, thus increasing the usability.

  • For the high speed drive of induction machine, Thyristor inverter utilizing line and device commutation is proposed. By investigating the load commutation conditions, the possible area of commutation is clearly shown. And from the above results, starting method under the constant slip frequency, is suggested.
