Nowadays, the user-centric application based web 2.0 has replaced the web 1.0. The users gain and provide information by interactive network applications. As a result, traditional approaches that only extract and analyze users' local document operating behavior and network browsing behavior to build the users' preference profile cannot fully reflect their interests. Therefore this paper proposed a preference analysis and indicating approach based on the users' communication information from MicroBlog, such as reading, forwarding and @ behavior, and using the improved PersonalRank method to analyze the importance of a user to other users in the network and based on the users' communication behavior to update the weight of the items in the user preference. Simulation result shows that our proposed method outperforms the ontology model, TREC model, and the category model in terms of 11SPR value.

This research aims to analyse the practices adopted by social media users in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), specifically users of Facebook and Snapchat. To collect data from participants, a questionnaire was used, generating 915 responses. The analysis of the data shows a clear preference for Snapchat over Facebook in the KSA, where 89% of the participants have accounts on Snapchat compared to 66% of them with accounts on Facebook. Moreover, the preference for Snapchat over Facebook has been clearly shown in the daily usage of participants, where 83% of those with Snapchat accounts can be described as very active users. They have accessed their Snapchat accounts at least once a day compared to only 15% of Facebook users. Different reasons were provided by the participants explaining the practices they adopted. We believe that such research could help social media applications' designers and policy makers to understand the behaviour of users in the KSA when using social media applications and the rationale behind their behaviour and preferences. This understanding could help improve the performance of current applications and new ones.

In existing mobile computing environments, users need to choose between their privacy and the services that they can receive from an application. However, existing mobile platforms do not allow users to perform such trade-offs in a fine-grained manner. In this study, we investigate whether users can effectively make utility-privacy trade-offs when they are provided with a multilevel privacy control method that allows them to recognize the different quality of service that they will receive from an application by limiting the disclosure of their private information in multiple levels. We designed a research model to observe users' utility-privacy trade-offs in accordance with the privacy control methods and other factors such as the trustworthiness of an application, quality level of private information, and users' privacy preferences. We conducted a user survey with 516 participants and found that, compared with the existing binary privacy controls, both the service utility and the privacy protection levels were significantly increased when the users used the multilevel privacy control method.

Smart speakers represent a growing product in home electronics. However, their capability to record voices in their immediate surroundings has spurred concerns about privacy violations. In this paper, we assess the extent of those concerns in the opinions of smart speaker users by examining the reviews posted by smart speaker users. We focus on South Korea as a representative of advanced Asian economies. The results show that Korean smart speaker users are either unconcerned or unaware of privacy issues, confirming the results of previous studies about UK users, but with an even lower degree of interest in the topic. However, for the few users concerned about privacy, their attitude towards privacy influences their overall opinion about smart speakers.

본 연구는 사용자 중심의 3D 사이버공간인 사회적 가상세계에서 인터페이스 환경이 어떻게 초기사용자들의 성과에 영향을 미치는 지에 대해 탐색하였다. 초기의 인기에도 불구하고 사회적 가상세계는 많은 사용자들의 이탈을 경험하고 있다. 한 가지 가능한 원인은 초기사용자들에게 익숙하지 않은 사회적 가상세계의 인터페이스가 그들의 적응에 방해가 될 수 있다는 것이다. 사회적 가상세계에서 하고자 하는 작업에 대한 실패는 초기사용자들의 이탈을 가속화시킬 수 있다는 점에서, 본 연구는 인터페이스 요소들(현존감, 지원성, 피드백)의 초기사용자의 성과에 미치는 영향을 탐색하였다. 40명을 대상으로 하는 실험에서, 각 참여자는 사회적 가상세계인 세컨드라이프에서 7개의 작업을 수행한 후, 설문서에 답하였다. 실험결과, 사회적 가상세계의 지원성과 피드백은 초기사용자의 성과에 유의미한 영향을 끼치는 것으로 나타났으나 현존감은 영향이 없는 것으로 나타났다.

이 연구는 인터넷 사용자들의 건강정보 웹사이트에서 정보공유내용과 인구통계학적인 특징이 건강정보 공유행동에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 건강정보 웹사이트 토론방에 있는 메시지 중에서 1,042개를 임의로 선택하여 내용분석한 결과, 건강정보 웹사이트 회원들은 서로간 감정적인 공감과 정보제공, 그리고 관계형성에 적극적인 것으로 나타났다. 건강정보 웹사이트 회원 중 2/3는 루게릭병에 대한 자신들의 생각과 감정을 나누었고, 루게릭병을 가진 타인과의 관계형성에 노력한 회원은 1/4 정도였다. 절반 정도의 회원들은 적극적으로 다른 회원의 질문에 답하였다. 이 연구는 전체적으로 분석했을때 나이와 성별에 의한 정보공유의 효과는 없었지만, 50대 남성의 경우 다른 사람들에 대한 질문에 대한 대답이나 자신의 삶에 대한 관리에 다른 연령대 그룹보다 더욱 적극적인 모습을 보였다.

본 연구는 지식과 정보가 경쟁력이 되고 있는 현대 사회에서 고령자들이 웹을 통하여 보다 쉽게 정보를 찾을 수 있는 웹 네비게이션 디자인의 유형을 개발하고자 하였다. 예비조사를 통하여 고령자를 위한 웹 네비게이션 디자인의 유형을 제안하였고 30명의 고령자 그룹을 대상으로 정보 검색소요 시간, 오류 발생 측면, 웹 네비게이션 디자인 요소의 크기와 위치, 레이아웃에 관한 조사를 하였다. 측정된 정보 검색소요 시간은 반복측정 이원변량분석에 의하여 분석하였고 비디오 분석과 사후 설문조사를 실시하였다. 고령자에겐 이상적인 정 네비게이션 디자인은 페이지의 상단에 가로로 길게 위치한 글로벌 메뉴 아래에 세로로 서브 카테고리 메뉴가 나타나는 유형이며 롤오버 메뉴와 단계적으로 분류된 메뉴, 크게 처리된 본문과 레이블, 움직이지 않는 이미지는 고령자가 정보를 쉽게 찾을 수 있도록 하였다. 이상에서 제시하는 바와 같이 사용편의성이 향상된 웹 네비게이션 디자인에서는 고령자가 효율적으로 오류 없이 정보를 쉽고 편하게 찾을 수 있으며 고령자를 위한 웹 네비게이션 디자인의 개발은 고령화 사회에서 노인 계층의 인터넷 사용을 활성화시킬 수 있을 것이다.

본 연구는 도서관의 문화프로그램 운영 현황을 살펴보고 개선사항을 제안하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이에 국립세종도서관 문화프로그램의 이용자 참여 로그를 분석하여 프로그램의 운영과 이에 대한 이용자의 실질적인 참여 현황을 살펴보았다. 이용자 참여 로그의 누적기간은 2015년 3월부터 2017년 12월까지이며, 해당 로그에서 프로그램 정보 722건, 프로그램 참여 정보 24,816건, 이용자 정보 6,729건을 추출 분석하였다. 세부 분석은 프로그램 분석, 이용자 분석, 시계열 분석 등 다각도로 진행되었으며, 분석결과를 토대로 국립세종도서관 문화프로그램의 문제점을 지적하고 이를 개선시킬 수 있는 방안을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 서비스 제공 측면에서 문화프로그램을 분석했던 기존 연구와는 달리 실제 이용자 참여 로그를 활용하여 이용자 측면에서 문화프로그램을 분석하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

이동통신 사용자들은 PKI를 기반으로 무선 인터넷을 통한 뱅킹, 증권거래, 전자 지불 등의 다양한 서비스를 이용하고 있다. 또한 이동통신 사용자간의 데이터 통신에 대한 필요성도 점차 증가하고 있다. 무선 PKI 환경에서 사용자들은 인증서를 이용하여 사용자 인증, 키 분배, 암 복호화 등을 수행할 수 있으며 그에 따라 이동통신 사용자간의 인증서상태 검증과정도 필요하게 되었다. 이미 개발되어 상용화되어 있는 이동통신용 교환기는 음성 통화를 위주로 설계되었으므로 이를 이용하여 데이터 통신을 하기 위해서는 음성호의 호처리 절차를 이용하여야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 무선 PKI 환경을 이용한 이동통신 사용자간의 데이터 통신에 필요한 인증서상태 검증작업을 호처리 과정 내에서 효율적으로 처리할 수 있는 모델을 PCS(Personal Communication System)를 중심으로 제안하고자 한다.
