전력선 통신을 이용한 디멘드 콘트롤러의 개발 (Development of Demand Controller Using Power Line communication)

  • In this paper, an intelligent demand control system was introduced. This system is composed of demand controller, RTU, Power Line Modem and HMI program. The developed demand controller was capable of synchronizing with watthour meter recommended by KEPCO. To control distant loads, network function using powerline communication is implemented in RTU, with HMI program, the untrained users are able to operate system easily. Additionally using the Powerline, the cost and time of installation is saved. The system performance was proved In a several experiments.

  • Demand Response Programs (DRP) are critical to the operation of efficient and competitive energy markets. and provide critical market improvements to Independent System Operators (ISO). To all energy market Participants, they Provide savings and cost reductions when end users have the ability to respond to wholesale prices. Now, in the competitive electricity market, DRP is classified by Emergency and Economic DRP to reduce costs and maintain reliability. In this paper, we survey the trend of Demand Response Program over the world and compare the practical performance among the markets in US.

Preferences for Supercomputer Resources Using the Logit Model

  • Public research, which requires large computational resources, utilizes the supercomputers of the National Supercomputing Center in the Republic of Korea. The average utilization rate of resources over the past three years reached 80%. Therefore, to ensure the operational stability of this national infrastructure, specialized centers have been established to distribute the computational demand concentrated in the national centers. It is necessary to predict the computational demand accurately to build an appropriate resource scale. Therefore, it is important to estimate the inflow and outflow of computational demand between the national and specialized centers to size the resources required to construct specialized centers. We conducted a logit model analysis using the probabilistic utility theory to derive the preferences of individual users for future supercomputer resources. This analysis shows that the computational demand share of specialized centers is 59.5%, which exceeds the resource utilization plan of existing specialized centers.

  • We may need to consider 'display' interface and product design as distinct from traditional user- and technologydriven product design. Technology-dominated product development may lead users to demand another 'technological improvement' rather than 'design improvement.' This cycle of product development may cause both users and producers to disregard the potential of 'display' technology and interface. We must develop a better understanding of significant and unique 'display' potential in comparison with 'real' world communications and current sociological and technological contexts.

Interoperable DRM Framework for Multiple Devices Environment

  • As networks increase and cross-convergence occurs between various types of devices and communications, there is an increasing demand for interoperable service in the business environment and from end users. In this paper, we investigate interoperability issues in the digital rights management (DRM) and present a practical framework to support interoperability in environments with multiple devices. The proposed architecture enables end users to consume digital content on all their devices without awareness of the underlying DRM schemes or technologies. It also enables DRM service providers to achieve interoperability without costly modification of their DRM schemes.

국내 대학도서관 이용자 수요 분석 (Analysis of User Demand for University Library Services in Korea)

  • 대학도서관의 서비스 전략은 사회 환경 변화에 대한 조망을 포함해서 실질적인 서비스 수요자인 이용자에 기반하여 수립될 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 대학도서관 이용자인 대학생과 대학원생, 교수자와 연구자를 대상으로 현재 제공되는 대학도서관 기능과 서비스에 대한 이용자들의 인식을 파악하고 향후 개선 혹은 개발되어야 할 서비스에 대한 수요를 조사·분석하였다. 데이터는 온라인 설문을 통해 수집되었고, 학생집단은 1,216건, 연구자 집단은 433건 회수되었다. 조사 결과는 각각의 집단별로 정리하고, 이 중 공통된 결과를 통해 시사점을 도출하였다. 첫째, 두 집단 모두 정보자원의 수집과 접근 강화에 대한 지속적인 요구가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 타 기관과의 협력을 통한 정보자원의 공유를 강화하고 해외학술자료의 다양한 이용을 희망하는 등 정보제공서비스 확대를 필요로 하고 있었다. 셋째, 도서관이 중요한 기관이라는 인식은 하고 있었으나 홍보 등의 부족으로 만족한 이용이 이루어지고 있지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 넷째, 대학도서관이 대상의 구별과 차별 없이 누구에게나 열린 서비스를 제공해야 한다고 인식하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 이용자에게 최적화된 대학도서관 서비스를 개발하고 개선하기 위한 전략 수립시 기본 데이터로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

Capabilities of information technology to overcome the time and space limitations enables efficient storage and processing of a large volume of data shared by many users in geographically dispersed areas. As the users ask for more useful information services, it is necessary to develop information services tp meet the needs of users. Enhancing information services is also necessary to cope actively with the pressures to open the information service is also necessary to cope actively with the pressures to open the information and telecommunications market as the level of Korean information services industry is still in its infancy. Value Added Network(VAN) services have a tremendous growth potential and its economic and social impact would be great as the information society matures. This study suggests a direction for the development of value added and new-media services based on the survey of individual and business users of information services.

  • Recently, there is a rapidly growing demand for efficient real-tine playback and transmission of large amounts of multimedia data. But most users' connections are not fast enough to download large chunks of multimedia data. Therefore a streaming technology is needed in which users enable the real-time playback of multimedia date without having to download the whole of the multimedia date. In this paper, we propose a personalized IP streaming system. The proposed IP streaming system enables users to got an intelligent recommendation of multimedia contents based on the user preference information stored on the streaming server or the home media server. Moreover, users are assured of seamless access of streamed content event if they switch to another client device by implementing streaming system based on user identification and device information. We evaluate our approach with simulation results.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate alteration situation and user demand through the case study, to analyze the problems of the user participatory design, and to propose the improvement direction of user participation in the apartment housing. The results of this study are as follows: 1) The method of participatory design using a questionary must be improved with other communication methods between suppliers and users to adapt to the demands of users. 2) The range of menu and the time of participation must be varied to select various materials, colors, types of the interior finish and floor plan freely according to users. 3) Users have the positive attitude about the menu-option method and want to other methods of participatory design like the flexible housing method.
