  • This study proposes the method seeking out the user needs for the home automation systems which are one of the compositions of digital home. The findings are as follows. (1) The designing of digital home should be based on the residents' daily life and the their needs for the future house prior to the digital technology, (2) The IT Apartments recently developed in Busan set up the safety and security system and the automatic ventilation system mostly. (3) The residents are more concerned of the safety and security and the comfortable interior environment than convenience and entertainments. (4) The residents have diverse needs for the home automation systems according to their age, residential experience and occupation.

Optimal Design of PSC-I Girder Bridge Considering Life Cycle Cost (생애주기비용을 고려한 PSC-I형 교량의 최적설계)

  • This paper presents the procedure for the optimal design of a PSC-I girder bridge considering life cycle cost (LCC). The load carrying capacity curves for the concrete deck, PSC-I girder and $\pi$-type pier were derived and used for the estimate of service lives. Total life cycle cost for the service life was calculated as sum of initial cost, damage cost, maintenance cost, repair and rehabilitation cost, user cost, and disposal cost. The advanced First Order Second Moment method was used to estimate the damage cost. The optimization method was applied to the design of PSC-I girder bridge. The objective function was set to the annual cost, which is defined by dividing the total life cycle cost by the service life, and constraints were formulated on the basis of Korean Standards. The optimal design was performed for various service lives and the effects of design factors were investigated.

  • This research aims at developing a low-cost PC-NC system based on one-CPU and investigating the feasibility of its application to a simple-function lathe. Its hardware consists a two axes motion control board including a 24bit counter, 8253 timer, a 12bit DA converter, DIO board for PLC operation and a PC with Intel Pentium 466MHz. The fundamental real-time MC functions such as G-code interpretation, interpolation, position and velocity control of axes are performed. User programming interface with functions of icon manipulation, tool-path simulation and NC-code generation was implemented. In order to achieve real-time control and safety, axis control, NC interpretation, interpolation and user communication are completely executed during every interrupt interval of I msec.

  • Industrial ventilation is one of crucial engineering measures to protect workers from hazardous airborne contaminants. Designing a ventilation system is not an easy task. To solve this problem, U.S. computer programs and softwares have been developed. In Korea, a software, called as VPMC(Velocity Pressure Method Calculation), was developed by Korean Industrial Safety Corporation. Since VPMC is a DOS-based software, it could not be a user-friendly one. In this study, a Windows-based software was thus developed to overcome the difficulty in using a software for designing the ventilation system. As far as we know, this kind of Windows-based software is the first in the world. But this software should be kept being revised. The future work would include introduction of GUI(Graphic User Interface) and enhancement of editing functions by using Data-Base programs.

  • This study deals with the analysis of the effectiveness of a safer belt in frontal crash. ATB, Articulated Total Body, program is used as a dynamics solver of the occupant model. ATB is a public code, however, the program is somewhat cumbersome to use due to lack of sufficient user interface. A preprocessor and a postprocessor are, therefore, developed for a user friendly graphic interface in Windows environment. Dialog boxes are used for an interface with GEBOD, Generator of Body Data, for human anthropometry and with ADAMS for vehicle dynamics. It is found through three test simulations that simulated results are in good agreement with those obtained by ATB. The effect of the initial slack of safety belt is investigated for frontal crash using the developed program.

  • 3D Modeling Solution can reduce projecting error and also make possible to design visually, so that it can minimize human resources. On the other hand, it has defects of operating difficulties caused by too much complex function, thus it consequently prevent user from prompt handling. According to this paper, the developed party S/W will help that user can construct the parts easily, can let everybody use 3D modeling solution readily, and make fast development of new product. This software will carry out prompt development of new product and derive satisfaction of customers from high quality. Also, saving time and expense naturally raise competitive power in consequence.

  • One of the recent trends of cockpit development is to integrate the part of whole cockpit and compartment. The goal of this study is to develop and Analyze User's Convenience for a cockpit prototype based on the design guide of cockpit integration module. The process of this study has been followed analyzing development trend of next generation Automotive cockpit, extracting the design factor needed to making integration module and laying down the design guide of cockpit integration module. After that process, next-generation Automotive cockpit has been embodied as graphical image designing. Henceforth, applying this module to real will be considered after evaluation of utilization. THis study is indicated that one example for evaluation of utilization.

  • This study examined the effective system, which manages LPG Gas Cylinder by inserting an electronic tag or module to store a production year, material specification, charging data, management data, and warehousing data. Therefore, the user can effectively monitor the checking date, reexamining the gas cylinder (or not), and manufacture and expiration date. Moreover, through this study, the user can simply monitor a production date, warehousing data, and charging frequency by connecting a mobile app and a gas cylinder in which has an electronic tag or module at any time.
