WDM-PON Based on Wavelength Locked Fabry-Perot LDs

  • A WDM-PON has been considered as an ultimate solution for access networks. However, there were many technical and practical issues for commercial deployment. These issues were solved with wavelength locked F-P LD and the WDM-PONs employing this optical source were commercialized. These WDM-PON systems have been deployed in Korea, Europe, and US. We reviewed wavelength locking technology and WDM-PON achievements. When we inject spectrum sliced broadband light into an F-P LD, the multimode output is changed to a quasi single mode. Then, we can use the single mode light for WDM signal transmission. The broad spectral gain of the semiconductor gain medium enables a color-free operation of WDM-PON, i.e., an identical ONT can be used for each user. The wavelength locking properties depend on many parameters, especially alignment of injection wavelength to a lasing mode, passband profile of AWG and front facet reflectivity of F-P LD. However, these dependencies can be reduced by proper design of the laser and the injection bandwidth. Thus, WDM-PON systems have been achieved with color-free operation.

  • Utilizing the tools such as CLIPS can reduce the time that it takes to develop expert systems. CLIPS is a development tool for expert system and has public inference engine and utilities. However, skilled programming is needed to run CLIPS on Windows 95, and proper interfaces for knowledge engineers or end-users who do not have good programming ability should be developed. Therefore, the user-friendly interfaces including htitle, hmenu, hyesno, htextdisplay, and hrun were developed and added to CLIPS. The intefaces were excuted in command-line mode of CLIPS on Windows 95. Also, htitle and hmenu can display graphic files for expert system users comprehension. An expert system was constructed using the interfaces and examples were displayed.

  • This paper describes a novel navigation algorithm using a locomotion interface with two 6-DOF parallel robotic manipulators. The suggested novel navigation system can induce user's real walking and generate realistic visual feedback during navigation, using robotic manipulators. For realistic visual feedback, the virtual environment is designed with three components; 3D object modeler for buildings and terrains, scene manager and communication manager component. The walking velocity of the user is directly translated to VR actions for navigation. Finally, the functions of the RPC interface are utilized for each interaction mode. The suggested navigation system can allow a user to explore into various virtual terrains with real walking and realistic visual feedback.

  • Follow-me function of drones is new and attractive for selfie drone users, where the drone autonomously follows and capture the user. Currently the products use the difference between GPS's in the drone and user side mobile GCS, but the targeting accuracy is not satisfactory owing to the low accuracy of GPS data, often the order of ten meters. We designed a new follow-me mode algorithm that utilizes the accuracy of visual tracking algorithm and the reliability of GPS-based. The experiment shows that proposed follow-me can capture much accurately the target user in the center of video content than GPS-only methods, and recover the vision algorithm failure quickly in 5-10 seconds.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the optimal system(AAC device), which helps a person with a profound communication disorder to communicate with other people. Therefore, this system includes the user interface enhancement that is the user adaptation mode algorithm. The symbol is made with a text and an icon which is converted into Korean. The message contiol operates scanning and adjusts rate control of row-column scanning and linear scanning. This embedded system includes voice input/output and voice recording as well suggested method that could apply optimal device access algorithm from clinical environment. Therefore, we are experting that even the current system itself will be able to improve the life quality of people who need to communicate with the help of devices.

Collecting the Information Needs of Skilled and Be-ginner Drivers Based on a User Mental Model for a Cus-tomized AR-HUD Interface

  • The continuous development of in-vehicle information systems in recent years has dramatically enriched drivers' driving experience while occupying their cognitive resources to varying degrees, causing driving distraction. Under this complex information system, managing the complexity and priority of information and further improvement in driving safety has become a key issue that needs to be urgently solved by the in-vehicle information system. The new interactive methods incorporating the augmented reality (AR) and head-up display (HUD) technologies into in-vehicle information systems are currently receiving widespread attention. This superimposes various onboard information into an actual driving scene, thereby meeting the needs of complex tasks and improving driving safety. Based on the qualitative research methods of surveys and telephone interviews, this study collects the information needs of the target user groups (i.e., beginners and skilled drivers) and constructs a three-mode information database to provide the basis for a customized AR-HUD interface design.

블루투스 Passkey Entry 인증 모드에 대한 MITM 공격과 대응방법 (MITM Attack on Bluetooth Pairing in Passkey Entry Mode and Its Countermeasure)

  • 블루투스는 대칭키를 사용하여 암호화 채널을 형성하며 대칭키는 최초 연결 이전에 수행하는 페어링 단계에서 교환된다. 페어링 단계에서 기기인증을 위한 인증 모드는 크게 Just work, Passkey Entry, Out of Band, 그리고 Numeric Comparison 방식으로 구분된다. 지금까지 블루투스 페어링 방식의 중간자 공격(MITM)은 Just work 모드를 대상으로 하거나 인증 모드를 강제로 Just work 모드로 변환한 상태에서 MITM 공격을 수행하였고, 이때에는 인증모드가 변환되었다는 것을 인지하지 못하는 사용자의 부주의가 가정되어야 했다. 본 논문에서는 Secure Simple Pairing, Le Legacy Pairing, 그리고 LE Secure Connection Pairing 방식의 규격을 분석하였고, 각 방식에서 Passkey Entry 모드를 사용하였을 때, MITM 공격이 발생 가능함을 보인다. 또한 제안하는 Passkey Entry MITM 공격 방법은 기존 공격방법과 달리 인증 모드의 사용자 확인 절차를 바꾸지 않기 때문에 사용자의 부주의에 대한 가정 사항을 요구하지 않는다. 우리는 제안하는 Passkey Entry MITM 공격을 구현하고 이것이 악용될 수 있는 시나리오와 이를 방어할 수 있는 대응방법을 제시한다.

소규모 멀티캐스트를 기반으로 한 멀티캐스트 보안구조 (Multicast Secure Architecture based on PIM-SM)

  • 기존의 멀티캐스트 보안 프로토콜은 DVMRP, CBT와 같이 비교적 규모가 큰 라우팅 프로토콜에 적합하도록 설계되어 있어서 사용자가 비교적 적고 호스트들간의 지역적인거리가 멀고 최단경로 라우팅 특성을 가지는 PIM-SM(Protocol Independent Multicast-Sparse Mode) 라우팅 프로토콜을 지원하는데 무리가 있다. 본 연구에서는 모든사용자간의 가입/탈퇴시 또는 서비스 사용 중에 사용자의 정당한 서비스 보호를 위해 서브그룹을 RP단위로 나누고, 송신자만의 비밀키를 따로 관리하는 보안 구조를 설계하였다. 그결과 데이터 전송 시 그룹 키에 의한 자료 변환 작업이 불필요하여 키 분배시간이 단축되고, 다른 보안 구조에 비해 구조가 보다 간단해졌다.

소형 휴머노이드 로봇 시스템 개발 (The Development of a Miniature Humanoid Robot System)

  • In this paper, we introduce a case study of developing a miniature humanoid robot that has 16 degrees of freedom and is able to perform statically stable walking. The developed humanoid robot is 37cm tall and weighs 1,200g. RC servo motors are used as actuators. The robot can walk forward and turn to any direction on an even surface. It equipped with a small digital camera, so it can transmit vision data to a remote host computer via wireless modem. The robot can be operated in two modes: One is a remote-controlled mode, in which the robot behaves according to the command given by a human operator through the user-interface program running on a remote host computer, the other is a stand-alone mode, in which the robot behaves autonomously according the pre-programmed strategy. The user-interface program also contains a robot graphic simulator that is used to produce and verify the robot\`s gait motion. In our walking algorithm, the ankle joint is mainly used for balancing the robot. The experimental results shows that the developed robot can perform statically stable walking on an even surface.
