A Study on the condition of the children's facility in grand bookstores (국내대형서점내의 아동서적공간 현황에 관한 연구 - 서울지역 대형서점을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide basic guidelines for qualitatively advanced children's facilities and spaces in grand bookstores. The main concept is considered with a situation that grand bookstores of large corporations are increasing in quantity, but their social missions for the user are often being connived. The study is performed by research of current six domestic grand bookstores, two branches of each three large corporations, larger than 2,500py in Seoul, and the research is applied to Murtha's User Benefit Criteria as a basic format. As a result of the research, some problems to be improved are detected in ways of behavioral facilitation, physiological maintenance, perceptual maintenance, and social facilitation, therefore findings in survey turned out to be parents' dissatisfaction in many aspects. Finally, with this result, it is desirable for interior designers to reflect the indicated insufficient elements to their following children's bookstore space design for the user, children and their parents.

  • The evolution of telecommunications has raised the profile of many segments of the network that were not previously considered important. Until recently, basic telephony existed with the extension of passive cables without any particular user network interface. In the area of data communications, the introduction of flexible packet switching has allowed the network to evolve in a far more efficient manner. To overcome such separated network problems and business needs of both users and network providers, the integrated narrowband ISDN concept is being developed in most countries for implementation in the public switched telephone network (PSTN). The targets of ISDN, in my opinion, can be explained as follows : To the user, ISDN should provide the services at any time, at any place, through any media. To the business customer using PABX or LAN applications, ISDN should introduce customized services rapidly and also, ISDN should be developed by the modular hardware and software design approach in order for new services to be introduced rapidly and effectively. Software can be also developed by non-expert local staff to cater for adopting new user's service requirements immediately. Finally, ISDN will be able to increase business chances and benefit both users and operating companies.

  • The post-processing modules are parts of an integrated system for reinforced concrete structures. This modules are composed of two modules: member design module and calculation report module. The purpose of this paper is to develope modules that increase efficiency and usefulness of an integrated system used reinforced concrete structures design. The development of post-processing modules is necessary for user to design reinforced concrete structures conveniently and quickly. This modules are connected with central database for the benefit of storing amount of input/output data and being used system with little effort. Post-processing modules used Object-Oriented concepts and techniques include identity, classification, polymorphism, and inheritance. Member design module automatically converts no good members into satisfied members by changing section size or reinforcement bar arrangement. This module can be operated both independent member design modules with user input and a part of integrated system with database input. If user operates member design module, calculation report module is created automatically.

  • Apartment, which have become the major housing style in Korea, have contributed to the development of housing culture as well as achieved a growth in volume. However, the demands and characteristics of residents have not been reflected in the apartment, because it has been developed only for a growth in volume. In this society, housing unit was the first consideration rather than common space. Therefore, a required resident-centered common space is the domestic housing market's necessity. Under this circumstance, this study investigated previous studies on interior design guidelines for common space were analyzed using Murtha and Lee's user benefit criteria which emphasizes humanity. In-depth content analysis was employed in this study. The result showed that four categories of the model were related toward more user-centered residential environment-behavioral facilitation, physiological maintenance, perceptual maintenance, and social facilitation.

  • This research investigates a kill probability model for the performance evaluation of guided missile system, and also develops the user interface implementation for the output of the model based on the visual object-oriented programming application. This paper describes in detail the methodology for the kill probability attained by a missile warhead detonating near an airborne target. The major simulation events used in this research are missile guidance homing point, burst points, and kill mechanism(direct kill, blast kill and fragment kill). For the user interface, we also design and implement the visualization system that can show the graphic style of the kill probability attained by the model. This research will bridge the gap between the sophisticated kill probability model and users who want to see the results interactively with visualization, which can benefit many of other military systems. Some examples are shown, but these will be improved to be better with visual simulation which can visualize all the simulation process of the model.

  • As digital convergence and mobile services evolve, personalization becomes one of the most important factors attracting customers. Personalization means functions offering individually customized services with relevant contents using information on individual preferences. This sort of personalized services has attracted great attention of a large part of online firms. One of representative services of such personalized services is a mobile widget service. In this study, we identified seven antecedents affecting the quality of personalized mobile widget services and empirically investigated which antecedent has a significant effect of the quality of personalized mobile widget services. In addition we carried out empirical investigation into the effect of the quality of personalized mobile widget service on user satisfaction and trust. As a result of this research, we revealed that seven variables including information services affected components of personalized services, and usefulness and perceived benefit as components of personalized services affected user trust and satisfaction for personalized services.

Debug Port Protection Mechanism for Secure Embedded Devices

  • In this paper we propose a protection mechanism for the debug port. While debug ports are useful tools for embedded device development and maintenance, they can also become potential attack tools for device hacking in case their usage is permitted to hackers with malicious intentions. The proposed approach prevents illicit use of debug ports by controlling access through user authentication, where the device generates and issues authentication token only to the server-authenticated users. An authentication token includes user access information which represents the user's permitted level of access and the maximum number of authentications allowed using the token. The device authenticates the user with the token and grants limited access based on the user's access level. The proposed approach improves the degree of overall security by removing the need to expose the device's secret key. Availability is also enhanced by not requiring server connection after the initial token generation and further by supporting flexible token transfer among predefined device groups. Low implementation cost is another benefit of the proposed approach, enabling it to be adopted to a wide range of environments in demand of debug port protection.

Contents Sharing Model in Distributed Collaboration Environment (분산 협업 환경에서의 콘텐츠 공유 모델)

  • In this paper, we propose contents sharing model for consolidating distributed collaboration environments. We provide the combined model by integrating different features-scalable resolution display walls resource, sharing contents on local and remote, multi-user interaction, and access control. There is a benefit that every user can interact within an environment, but overlaps would occur because of multi-user interaction. To manage overlap issue, the model includes access control. Access control would interfere flow of work process. Therefore, we conduct user study to evaluate these two factors of the model. The result shows that the proposed contents sharing model makes it possible to concentrate in a work.

The Effect of Consumers' Perceptions on the Service Ubiquity in the Use of Mobile Based Virtual Store Services (모바일 가상스토어 서비스 이용에서 소비자의 유비쿼터스 특성지각의 영향)

  • This study investigates the effect of service ubiquity perceptions on consumers' responses to virtual stores such as benefit and risk perceptions, shopping value perceptions, and service usage intention. Data were collected via a self-administered online survey from nationwide consumer panels of an online marketing research firm. Questionnaire items were adopted from previous literature and developed by authors via pretesting to measure variables. The results revealed that virtual store service ubiquity affects consumer benefit perceptions as well as risk perceptions. All benefit perceptions (including time effectiveness, user control, and compatibility) had significant mediating effects between service ubiquity and hedonic/utilitarian shopping service value perceptions. The mediating effect of financial risk was significant only in the relationship between service ubiquity and utilitarian value perception. The findings offer retailers and marketers information in regards to consumers' perception of a virtual store usage, which can enhance service and product strategy.

Analysis of Marketing Channel Competition under Network Externality (네트워크 외부성을 고려한 마케팅 채널 경쟁 분석)

  • Network externality can be defined as the effect that one user of a good or service has on the value of that product to other people. When a network externality is present, the value of a product or service is dependent on the number of others using it. There exist asymmetries in network externalities between the online and traditional offline marketing channels. Technological capabilities such as interactivity and real-time communications enable the creation of virtual communities. These user communities generate significant direct as well as indirect network externalities by creating added value through user ratings, reviews and feedback, which contributes to eliminate consumers' concern for buying products without the experience of 'touch and feel'. The offline channel offers much less scope for such community building, and consequently, almost no possibility for the creation of network externality. In this study, we analyze the effect of network externality on the competition between online and conventional offline marketing channels using game theory. To do this, we first set up a two-period game model to represent the competition between online and offline marketing channels under network externalities. Numerical analysis of the Nash equilibrium solutions of the game showed that the pricing strategies of online and offline channels heavily depend not only on the strength of network externality but on the relative efficiency of online channel. When the relative efficiency of online channel is high, the online channel can greatly benefit by the network externality. On the other hand, if the relative efficiency of online channel is low, the online channel may not benefit at all by the network externality.
