Development of Taekwondo Trainer System for Improvement of Training Effects (훈련효과 향상을 위한 태권도 트레이너 시스템의 개발)

  • In this paper, we developed a digital Taekwondo trainer system based on the electronic protector was authorized by the World Taekwondo Federation for the improvement of user's training effects and athletic performances. Our system consists of E-Kick Bag with sensors for sensing hits, taekwondo trainer program and receiver for interconnection of E-kick Bag to program. Taekwondo trainer system also has an advantage to improve training effects and athletic performances such as hit-accuracy and reaction velocity by appointing a hitting target for users with 6 LED indicators. The taekwondo trainer program is a user interface to provide training courses such as progress training of response time and stamina, preparation training for real sparring by training scenario. It has also characteristics which are to strengthen and supplement user's pros and cons by analyzing hitting intensity and accuracy from training. In this paper, we implemented a test targeting eight taekwondo players on the playing list include a member of the Korea national team and conducted a survey in order to evaluate the utility of our system.

Functions and Characteristics of Public Library Theme Collection: Focusing on the User-centered Classification Perspective (공공도서관 테마 컬렉션의 기능과 특성 - 이용자 중심 분류의 관점에서 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the potential use of the theme collection as a new classification method that reflects the interest of users in terms of classification and categorization. For this purpose, the background of the theme collection was identified based on the discussion of the library resource organization and the introduction of the curation service of bookstore. In addition, based on case analysis, which is building the theme collection, concrete concepts and characteristics of theme collection are derived. Based on the above discussion, the classification and categorization characteristics of public library themes collections were analyzed, and the characteristics and functions as a classification were compared with other categories relatively. Finally, the utility and applicability of the theme collection is presented and it is based on the discussions about the user-centered classification system design of the library in the future.

  • The increased competition in service development in various industrial sectors highlights the importance of producing high-quality services that provide a positive user experience. Although usability evaluation is recognized as an important method of verification of high quality service and utility, the general usability evaluation method has limitations of not taking the characteristics of various participants due to its uniform composition to account. As the following flaws can reduce evaluation efficiency, developing a new guideline seems to be the next step. Thus, this study focused on criteria on how to evaluate the usability for children and proposed non-face-to-face remote usability evaluation configurations and progress guidelines to increase the effectiveness. The following usability evaluation experiment was conducted based on the proposed guidelines and in this process, the effectiveness of the guidelines was verified and the items that needed to be supplemented were derived. It is expected that the non-face-to-face remote usability evaluation guidelines proposed through the study will be used as the basis for designing usability evaluations of services developed for children.

MIMO Ad Hoc Networks: Medium Access Control, Saturation Throughput, and Optimal Hop Distance

  • In this paper, we explore the utility of recently discovered multiple-antenna techniques (namely MIMO techniques) for medium access control (MAC) design and routing in mobile ad hoc networks. Specifically, we focus on ad hoc networks where the spatial diversity technique is used to combat fading and achieve robustness in the presence of user mobility. We first examine the impact of spatial diversity on the MAC design, and devise a MIMO MAC protocol accordingly. We then develop analytical methods to characterize the corresponding saturation throughput for MIMO multi-hop networks. Building on the throughout analysis, we study the impact of MIMO MAC on routing. We characterize the optimal hop distance that minimizes the end-to-end delay in a large network. For completeness, we also study MAC design using directional antennas for the case where the channel has a strong line of sight (LOS) component. Our results show that the spatial diversity technique and the directional antenna technique can enhance the performance of mobile ad hoc networks significantly.

Increasing needs for utility management lead up to develop a Telephone Outside plant Management System(TOMS) which combines facility management with Geog¬raphic Information System (GIS). TOMS is a powerful, flexible and effective outside plant facility management system. TOMS provides value added applic¬at ion softwares and easy-to-use user interfaces which make TOMS eas i ly adapted and extended to the individual sites. TOMS is now in use in 30 percent of central offices and will be used nation-wide by 1996.

  • The performance of multihop cognitive radio networks (CRN) can be improved significantly by using multiple channels in spectrum underlay fashion. However, interference due to the sharing of common radio channel and congestion due to the contention among those flows that share the same links become an obstacle to meet this challenge. How to control efficiently congestion and allocate power optimally to obtain a high end-to-end throughput is a key objective in this work. We reexamined the Network Utility Maximum (NUM) problem with a new primary outage constraint and proposed a novel resource allocation strategy to solve it effectively and efficiently.

Extended Proportional Fair Scheduling for Statistical QoS Guarantee in Wireless Networks

  • Opportunistic scheduling provides the capability of resource management in wireless networks by taking advantage of multiuser diversity and by allowing delay variation in delivering data packets. It generally aims to maximize system throughput or guarantee fairness and quality of service (QoS) requirements. In this paper, we develop an extended proportional fair (PF) scheduling policy that can statistically guarantee three kinds of QoS. The scheduling policy is derived by solving the optimization problems in an ideal system according to QoS constraints. We prove that the practical version of the scheduling policy is optimal in opportunistic scheduling systems. As each scheduling policy has some parameters, we also consider practical parameter adaptation algorithms that require low implementation complexity and show their convergences mathematically. Through simulations, we confirm that our proposed schedulers show good fairness performance in addition to guaranteeing each user's QoS requirements.

  • The internet is already a part of life. It is very convenient and people can do almost everything with internet that should be done in real life. Along with the increase of the number of internet user, various network attacks through the internet have been increased as well. Also, Large-scale network attacks are a cause great concern for the computer security communication. These network attack becomes biggest threat could be down utility of network availability. Most of the techniques to detect and analyze abnormal traffic are statistic technique using mathematical modeling. It is difficult accurately to analyze abnormal traffic attack using mathematical modeling, but network simulation technique is possible to analyze and simulate under various network simulation environment with attack scenarios. This paper performs modeling and simulation under virtual network environment including $NGSS^{1}$ system to analyze abnormal traffic-flooding attack.
