XML 데이터의 입력을 위한 XForms 인터페이스의 자동 생성 (Automatic Generation of XForms Interfaces for XML Data Input)

  • 현재 다양한 영역에서 XML의 사용이 확대되며 XML 데이터의 입력을 위한 사용자 인터페이스에 대해 관심이 높아지고 이다. XML 데이터의 입력을 위한 사용자 인터페이스를 자동으로 생성하는 기존의 연구는 다양한 사용자의 환경에 대한 대응이나 복잡한 문서를 위한 인터페이스 제공이라는 면에서 미흡하다. 본 논문에서는 XML 데이터를 편리하게 입력할 수 있도록 XML 스키마로부터 XForms에 기반한 인터페이스를 생성하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 세 단계로 구성된다. 먼저 XML 스키마 정의를 받아들여 파싱하여 스키마 구조 트리를 생성한다. 그리고 제안된 규칙에 따라 XForms 코드를 생성한다. 제안된 규칙은 복합 타입의 스키마 구조를 위한 XForms 코드 생성 규칙과 단순 타입을 위한 XForms 컨트롤 매핑 규칙을 포함한다. 그리고 생성된 XForms코드는 마지막 단계에서 템플릿으로 제작된 다른 XML 마크업 언어로 된 문서에 내재된다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 방법을 평가하기 위해 다양한 도메인의 스키마를 대상으로 실험한 결과 다양한 복합 형식과 단순 형식으로부터 XForms 인터페이스를 생성함을 확인할 수 있었다.

CLIPS를 사용한 한글 전문가 시스템을 위한 사용자 인터페이스이 개발(開發) (Development of User-Interfaces for Expert System Using CLIPS)

  • In developing an Expert System(ES), there are two ways. One is to develop an ES using AI(artificial Intelligence) languages and another using ES-development tools. CLIPS is an ES-development tool and has a powerful inference engine in it. Using the tool like CLIPS, knowledge engineer can concentrate on constructing a knowledge base without wasting time in developing an inference engine. However, CLIPS is lack of user-friendly interfaces for both knowledge enginners and users. Because CLIPS was developed in USA, it can not afford to use Korean language. Therefore, several user-friendly interfaces including hmenu, htille, hpcxdisplay were develpoed and added to CLIPS. CLIPS with the interfaces is called HCLIPS(Hangul CLIPS) in this paper. HCLIPS provides a new I/O device to be utilized for expert systems in Korean. HCLIPS can be efficiently used for developing expert systems in agriculture and consulting farmers interactively who are not familiar with computer programming and ES itself.

분산환경에서 표준제품모델(STEP)을 이용한 내용검색 (Content-search in Distributed Environment Using Standard Product Model (STEP))

  • This paper presents a content-search system built on distributed environments using the open product model of STEP, The content-search system searches design data for given product descriptions such as part name and features. Distribute object interfaces has been defined by IDL and distributed product data are searched through CORBA protocols. Web interfaces are also provided for interactive user interfaces. Given a user request, a mediator interacts with distributed search servers and sends collected results back to the user. The mediator has such metadata as location, program name, and other information about product data stored on distributed system. The search servers use SDAI interfaces to search STEP files or databases. The content-search system promotes the reuse of previous design within a company and the outsourcing of part designs.

  • The multimedia documents becomes the most natural user interface for CSCW(Conputer Supported Cooperative Work) in distributed environment. The objective of this study is to propose a multimedia document architecture and to develop a system that can manage it well. The new architecture is for revisable documents and is the basic layer for hypermedia documents. A good document architecture for CSCW must support pointing, marking, and editing over a part of documents. The user views, version control, and full- content search are also desirable features. In this paper, we discuss the basic concept of a new document architecture for CSCW. We also present the user interfaces for spatio-temporal compositions of multimedia documents.

  • There is currently a focus on usability of interactive computer software. Previous research in software ergonomics has indicated the importance of evaluating the usability of software user interfaces. Software developers, interface designers or human foctors engineers often confront the task of comparative evaluation among systems, versions or interface designs. This study presents a structured model for comparative evaluation of user interface designs using usability criteria and measures. The proposed model consists of twomain phases : the prescreening phase ad the evaluation phase. The first phase involves expert judgment-based approach with qualitative criteria. The prescreening phase uses absolute measurement analytic hierarchy process to filter possible altermative interfaces to a reasonable subset. The second phase involves user-based approach such as usability testing, with quantitative criteria. The objective of the evaluation phase is to evaluate a subset of altermatives using objective measures. A set of criteria and measures for evaluating the usability of computer software designs is presented. The proposed model provides practitioners with a structured approach to select the best interface based on usability criteria and measures.

  • 그리드 포탈 서비스는 기존의 어플리케이션 기반 그리드 서비스가 갖는 시간적 공간적 제약을 극복하여 보다 유연한 연구 환경을 제공한다. 그러나 사용자 인터페이스와 같은 사용자 요구 사항은 개발 기간 동안 불분명하기도 하고 자주 변하기도 한다. 그러므로 그리드 서비스를 위한 사용자 인터페이스를 만들고 유지 관리하는 비용을 줄일 수 있는 방안이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 유저 인터페이스 개발이 보다 쉽고 코드의 재사용률을 증가시킬 수 있는 객체 기반의 컨트롤 모델을 제안한다. 이 모델에서는 프레젠테이션 페이지의 구조를 보다 명확히 기술할 수 있고 액션들을 구현하는 것이 보다 쉽고 간단하다.

Multi-line Display를 이용하는 제품의 메뉴 설계방안 (Design of the menu on a multi-line display)

  • Menu-driven interfaces are frequently employed for user interfaces on many electronic products. Due to space constraint, a single or multi-line display is popularly used to show menu items unlike the software interfaces. Single or multi-line display present 8 .approx. 21. characters on an LCD screen and the user selects items using a series of button pushes. Multi-line displays are different from the single-line ones in the following aspects. First, they can present multiple line of information at the same time. Second, they can present menu items in a various way compared to single-line ones. However, due to their space constraint multi-line displays have many limitations compared to ordinary displays which usually use 14" screens. Therefore, guidelines are necessary for designing efficent multi-line display menus interfaces. In this study, a human factors experiment was conducted to examine the effects of three design variables which might affect the usability of a multi-line display menus. Factors investigated include menu structure, number of lines on the display, and item presentation method. Usability of the multi-line display menus was measured quantitatively in terms of four different aspects: speed, accuracy, inefficiency and preference. The analysis of variance was used not only to analyze the main effects of the factors and their interactions but also to see the differences between the single-line display menus and multi-line display ones. A set of design guidelines drawn from this study can be applied to the design of the user interfaces of a various types of electronic consumer products.

  • Many electronic products employ menu-driven interfaces for user-system dialogue. Unlike the software user interfaces, a small single-line display, such as a Liquid Crystal Display, is typically used to present menu items. Since the display can show only a single menu item at a time, more serious navigation problems are expected with single-line display menus(SDM). This study attempts to provide a set of unique guidelines for the design of the SDM based on empirical results. A human factors experiment was conducted to examine the effects of four design variables: menu structure, user experience, navigation aid, and number of targets. The usability of design alternatives was measured quantitatively in four different aspects, which were speed, accuracy, inefficiency of navigation, and subjective user preference. The analysis of variance was used to test the statistical effects of the design variables and their interaction effects. A set of design guidelines was drawn from the results which can be applied to the design of human-system interfaces of a wide variety of electronic consumer products using such displays. Since more generalized guidelines could be provided by constructing prediction models based on the empirical data, some powerful performance models are also required for the SDM. As a preliminary study, a survey was done on the performance models for ordinary computer menus.

  • 많은 웹 기반 정보시스템은 여러 가지 클라이언트 장치와 사용자들, 사용자 작업에 대한 시스템의 유저 인터페이스에 관한 적응을 요구한다. 본 논문에서는 개발자가 고수준 마크업 언어를 사용하여 웹 기반 인터페이스를 명세 할 수 있는 웹 기반 정보시스템에 적합한 클라이언트인터페이스를 제공하기 위한 새로운 접근방법을 제시하고자 한다. 단일 인터페이스 명세는 실행 시에 다중 웹 장치에 대한 인터페이스를 자동으로 제공하기 위한 것이다. 본 접근방법은 개발자들이 웹 기반 유저 인터페이스를 현재 다른 접근 방법들보다 더 쉽게 구성하고 유지할 수 있게 할 것이다.
