An Adaptive Connection Admission Control Method Based on the Measurement in ATM Networks (ATM망에서 측정 기반 적응적 연결 수락 제어)

  • This paper proposes the adaptive connection admission cotrol using the variale MRR(measurement reflection ratio) and the distribution of the number of cells arriving during the fixed interval. This distribution is estimated from the measured number of cells arriving at the output buffer during the fixed interval and traffic parameters specified by user. MRR is varied by the difference of estimated distribution and measurement distribution. As MRR is adaptively varied by estimated distribution error of accepted connections, it quickly reduces estimation error. Also, the scheduling scheme is proposed for multiplexed traffic with various traffic characteristics. For each traffic class, this scheme estimates adaptively equivalent bandwidth and schedules according to equivalent bandwidth ratio of each traffic class, so it improves cell loss rate and link utilization.

  • A connection admission control scheme is proposed that can seamlessly support QoS in face of handoff in mobile packet networks. The proposed scheme is based on the adaptive time-selective bandwidth reservation with the reduced signaling and computational overhead. The reservation parameters are adjusted dynamically to cope with user mobility. Throughout the computer simulations, the performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated. As a result, it is shown that the proposed scheme reduces handoff call blocking probability remarkably, while other parameters (new call blocking probability and bandwidth utilization efficiency) are slightly deteriorated.

  • Computer technology and internet environment have been adapted to teaching and learning in Korean educational context. However, there are several problematic areas in operating web site for teaching and learning mathematics. This study aims to investigate the operating system, such as designing web site, contents information, and contents connection of NRICH web site that has been operated as a part of 'Millennium Mathematics Project' of Cambridge University since 1997. Based on these categories, this study also gives the implications for how to develop theme-centered contents, accumulation of continuous and long-term data, induction of user's participation, and various cooperation project.

  • Our middle manufacturing industry need a master data management solution to adjust the changing industry environment effectively. In this paper, we development the master data management solution which has an user interface to use conveniently and has a standard data architecture for the efficient connection among various systems. Also this solution composed of the automated connection module which can make an intermediate language based on the standard data architecture and composed of the extensible production data management to improve the extensibility. This solution can provide an efficient progress information of work which was not managed by officer until now as well as can provide stable system building when we want to extend the system.

A Study on Continued Use of Social Network Services : Focused on the Moderating Effect of User's SNS Literacy (Social Network Service (SNS) 지속사용에 관한 연구 : 사용자의 SNS 리터러시 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The development and expansion of communication technology in the field of information technology (IT) have changed the method and culture of communication, mediating communication among people. In particular, since social network service (SNS) has the attributes of information delivery and processing, it has a more powerful dissipating effect and influence than other existing communication methods. The role of users in SNS is important because it has the communication structure of producer-consumer, which consists of sharing, connection and participation of users. In this line, the purpose of this study is to investigate the intention for continued use of SNS by user ability. In order to explain the motivation and behavior for continued use of SNS by users, this study employed the motivation theory and post-adaptation model. The study applied 'media literacy' to the characteristics of SNS media and environment and expanded it into the concept of 'SNS literacy' to identify the moderating effect by user ability. Referred to as 'user's ability that is required to use SNS,' the SNS literacy was verified for its moderating effect with the three sub-dimensions: 'technical accessing ability,' 'understanding ability' and 'creative ability.' The major findings of this study are as follows. First, the perceived usefulness and playfulness were found to have a significant effect on the intention for continued use of SNS, showing the same result with previous studies on technology acceptance. In other words, usefulness and playfulness are variables with an explanatory power in the SNS environment as well. Second, the conceptualization of SNS literacy with accessing ability, understanding ability and creative ability was found to be valid. Third, it was verified that there was a significant difference in the SNS literacy between perceived usefulness and continued use, indicating that users with higher ability respond sensitively to usefulness and affect continued behavior. The moderating effect of SNS literacy was also verified in the relationship between perceived playfulness and intention for continued use. The results above confirm the difference in post-adaptation behavior of individuals, and are expected to provide several implications.

  • We studied the methods for boosting a user participating service using KOSEN(The Global Network or Korean Scientists and Engineers) OpenLab service. OpenLab is a laboratory database of all the fields of science and technology, and it is different from other services in that basically it makes users register their information volunteerly. User participation service is not easy, so we made several strategies like promotion, event, and connection to other services. In result, we could collect about 4,300 laboratory database. Because user participation is a key concept for the Web 2.0, this study would contribute to the operation of the related services, especially to the services for scientists and engineers.

A Study of the Law School Library Design Feature & Spatial Composition (법학전문도서관 디자인 특성 및 공간구성방법에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the spacial composition feature of Law School Library and define the feature in spacial planning of law school library. Through the analysis of characteristics in spacial composition, the basic spacial type of law school library will be proposed as a new law school library design. The spatial composition characteristics of Law school Library are as followings. (1) Entry spatial feature for the user accessibility (2) Reference room spatial planning for carrel user (3) Connectivity of educational & research space and reference room space. As the result of design proposal and analyzing the spacial feature, firstly entry common space of library should be planned with reference room space. Secondly, reading room should be linked to the entry level for the user. Lastly, core space should be planned as the vertical connectivity space for the intimately linkage of educational & research space and reference room. And separated accessibility should be considered for direct connection from outdoor space.

GUI-based integrated monitoring system for small sized fuel cell ship (소형 연료전지 선박을 위한 GUI 기반의 통합 모니터링 시스템)

  • The electric power system based on fuel cell is applied in various forms to the ship and offshore plants. In particular, a research on the hybrid power system of the fuel cell combined with battery in connection topology has been researched actively. Fuel cell-based hybrid ship has not been carried out research, it is not carried out research in the integrated monitoring system. In this paper, we developed an integrated monitoring system to increase the convenience and stability for the hybrid fuel-cell ship operator. Research into integrated monitoring system based on GUI (Graphic User Interface), in consideration of the stability of the user convenience and ship operations, and developed communication and hardwired signal with the main equipment of the ship, to see in realtime state of the ship. The collected ship operation data is stored and it can be seen after the ship operating.

Performance Analysis of Improved ZMHB Algorithms for Wireless Networks (무선망에서 개선된 ZMHB 알고리즘의 성능 평가)

  • Handoff is one of the most important features for the user's mobility in a wireless cellular communication system. It is related to resource reservation at nearby cells. Resource reservation to the new connection point should occur prior to handoff to enable the user to receive the data or services at the new location, at the same level of service as at the previous location. For the efficient resource reservation, mobility prediction has been reported as an effective means to decrease the call dropping probability and to shorten the handoff latency in a wireless cellular environment. A recently proposed algorithm, ZMHB, makes use of the history of the user's positions within the current cell to predict the next cell. But, the prediction of the ZMHB algorithm is found to be 80∼85% accurate for regular and random movements. In this paper, we propose a new improved ZMHB mobility prediction algorithm, which is called Detailed-ZMHB that uses detailed-zone-based tracking of mo-bile users to predict user movements. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is then demonstrated through a simulation.

  • This paper proposes a CDMA receiver structure with time-shifted m-sequence orthogonal reception process, and analyzes the output SNR performance and the characteristics of the orthogonal receiver. This structure can be simply implemented with the converntional receiver adding an additional integrator path in parallel and an adder sums the conventional path and the new path output signals. The structure provides to reference user signal not only increment of signal component but also perfect orthogonal characteristic, canceling the accumulated cross-correlated value out to zero between the reference user and other user signals. Hence, the proposed structure can be applied for channel impulse response measurement, and used for multi-user interference signal cancellation and channel capacity increment by flexible structural inter-working operation of the added path, connection or disconnection, to conventional receiver structure.
