In a personalized product recommendation system, when the amount of log data is large or sparse, the accuracy of model recommendation will be greatly affected. To solve this problem, a personalized product recommendation method using deep factorization machine (DeepFM) to analyze user behavior is proposed. Firstly, the K-means clustering algorithm is used to cluster the original log data from the perspective of similarity to reduce the data dimension. Then, through the DeepFM parameter sharing strategy, the relationship between low- and high-order feature combinations is learned from log data, and the click rate prediction model is constructed. Finally, based on the predicted click-through rate, products are recommended to users in sequence and fed back. The area under the curve (AUC) and Logloss of the proposed method are 0.8834 and 0.0253, respectively, on the Criteo dataset, and 0.7836 and 0.0348 on the KDD2012 Cup dataset, respectively. Compared with other newer recommendation methods, the proposed method can achieve better recommendation effect.

Recommendation systems provide personalized products or services to online users by mining their past preferences. Collaborative filtering is a popular recommendation technique because it is easy to implement. However, with the rapid growth of the number of users in recommendation systems, collaborative filtering suffers from serious scalability and sparsity problems. To address these problems, a novel collaborative filtering recommendation algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm partitions the users using affinity propagation clustering, and searches for k nearest neighbors in the partition where active user belongs, which can reduce the range of searching and improve real-time performance. When predicting the ratings of active user's unrated items, mean deviation method is used to impute values for neighbors' missing ratings, thus the sparsity can be decreased and the recommendation quality can be ensured. Experiments based on two different datasets show that the proposed algorithm is excellent both in terms of real-time performance and recommendation quality.
With the emergence of ubiquitous computing era, various models for providing personalized service have been proposed, and, especially, several recommendation service schemes have been proposed to give tailored services to users proactively. However, the previous recommendation service schemes utilize a wide range of data without and filtering and consider the limited context-aware information to predict user preferences so that they are not adequate to provide personalized service to users. In this paper, we propose an adaptive recommendation service scheme which proactively provides suitable services based on the current context. We use accumulated interaction contexts (IC) between users and devices for predicting the user's preferences and recommend adaptive service based on the current context by utilizing clustering and collaborative filtering. The clustering algorithm improves efficiency of the recommendation service by focusing and analyzing the data that is collected from the locations nearby the users. Collaborative filtering guarantees an accurate recommendation, even when the data is insufficient. Finally, we evaluate the performance and the reliability of the proposed scheme by simulations.

There have already been studies analyzing the trajectories of objects from data streams of moving objects. Among those studies, there are also studies to discover groups of objects that move together, called companion groups. Most studies to discover companion groups use existing clustering techniques to find groups of objects close to each other. However, these clustering-based methods are often difficult to find the right companion groups because the number of clusters is unpredictable in advance or the shape or size of clusters is hard to control. In this study, we propose a new method that discovers companion groups based on the distance specified by the user. The proposed method does not apply the existing clustering techniques but periodically determines the groups of objects close to each other, by using a technique that efficiently finds the groups of objects that exist within the user-specified distance. Furthermore, unlike the existing methods that return only companion groups and their trajectories, the proposed method also returns their appearance and disappearance time. Through various experiments, we show that the proposed method can detect companion groups correctly and very efficiently.

A content-based image retrieval(CBIR) system builds the image database using low-level features such as color, shape and texture and provides similar images that user wants to retrieve when the retrieval request occurs. What the user is interest in is a response time in consideration of the building time to build the index database and the response time to obtain the retrieval results from the query image. In a content-based image retrieval system, the similarity computing time comparing a query with images in database takes the most time in whole response time. In this paper, we propose the two-phase search method with the clustering technique of feature vector in order to minimize the similarity computing time. Experimental results show that this two-phase search method is 2-times faster than the conventional full-search method using original features of ail images in image database, while maintaining the same retrieval relevance as the conventional full-search method. And the proposed method is more effective as the number of images increases.
There are many technical problems in the recommendation system based on very large database(VLDB). So, it is necessary to study the recommendation system' structure and the data-mining technique suitable for the large scale Internet shopping mail. Thus we design and implement the product recommendation system using k-means clustering algorithm and sequential pattern technique which can be used in large scale Internet shopping mall. This paper processes user information by batch processing, defines the various categories by hierarchical structure, and uses a sequential pattern mining technique for the search engine. For predictive modeling and experiment, we use the real data(user's interest and preference of given category) extracted from log file of the major Internet shopping mall in Korea during 30 days. And we define PRP(Predictive Recommend Precision), PRR(Predictive Recommend Recall), and PF1(Predictive Factor One-measure) for evaluation. In the result of experiments, the best recommendation time and the best learning time of our system are much as O(N) and the values of measures are very excellent.
This paper presents a facial expression control method of 3D avatar that enables the user to select a sequence of facial frames from the facial expression space, whose level of details the user can select hierarchically. Our system creates the facial expression spare from about 2,400 captured facial frames. But because there are too many facial expressions to select from, the user faces difficulty in navigating the space. So, we visualize the space hierarchically. To partition the space into a hierarchy of subspaces, we use fuzzy clustering. In the beginning, the system creates about 11 clusters from the space of 2,400 facial expressions. The cluster centers are displayed on 2D screen and are used as candidate key frames for key frame animation. When the user zooms in (zoom is discrete), it means that the user wants to see mort details. So, the system creates more clusters for the new level of zoom-in. Every time the level of zoom-in increases, the system doubles the number of clusters. The user selects new key frames along the navigation path of the previous level. At the maximum zoom-in, the user completes facial expression control specification. At the maximum, the user can go back to previous level by zooming out, and update the navigation path. We let users use the system to control facial expression of 3D avatar, and evaluate the system based on the results.
A user preference prediction method using an exiting collaborative filtering technique has used the nearest-neighborhood method based on the user preference about items and has sought the user's similarity from the Pearson correlation coefficient. Therefore, it does not reflect any contents about items and also solve the problem of the sparsity. This study suggests the preference prediction system using the similarity weight granted Bayesian estimated value and the associative user clustering to complement problems of an exiting collaborative preference prediction method. This method suggested in this paper groups the user according to the Genre by using Association Rule Hypergraph Partitioning Algorithm and the new user is classified into one of these Genres by Naive Bayes classifier to slove the problem of sparsity in the collaborative filtering system. Besides, for get the similarity between users belonged to the classified genre and new users, this study allows the different estimated value to item which user vote through Naive Bayes learning. If the preference with estimated value is applied to the exiting Pearson correlation coefficient, it is able to promote the precision of the prediction by reducing the error of the prediction because of missing value. To estimate the performance of suggested method, the suggested method is compared with existing collaborative filtering techniques. As a result, the proposed method is efficient for improving the accuracy of prediction through solving problems of existing collaborative filtering techniques.

Due to the advent of ubiquitous computing environment, it is becoming a part of our common life style. And tremendous information is cumulated rapidly. In these trends, it is becoming a very important technology to find out exact information in a large data to present users. Collaborative filtering is the method based on other users' preferences, can not only reflect exact attributes of user but also still has the problem of sparsity and scalability, though it has been practically used to improve these defects. In this paper, we propose clustering method by user's features based on SOM for predicting purchase pattern in u-Commerce. it is necessary for us to make the cluster with similarity by user's features to be able to reflect attributes of the customer information in order to find the items with same propensity in the cluster rapidly. The proposed makes the task of clustering to apply the variable of featured vector for the user's information and RFM factors based on purchase history data. To verify improved performance of proposing system, we make experiments with dataset collected in a cosmetic internet shopping mall.
This study proposes a novel recommender system using the structural hole analysis to reflect qualitative and emotional information in recommendation process. Although collaborative filtering (CF) is known as the most popular recommendation algorithm, it has some limitations including scalability and sparsity problems. The scalability problem arises when the volume of users and items become quite large. It means that CF cannot scale up due to large computation time for finding neighbors from the user-item matrix as the number of users and items increases in real-world e-commerce sites. Sparsity is a common problem of most recommender systems due to the fact that users generally evaluate only a small portion of the whole items. In addition, the cold-start problem is the special case of the sparsity problem when users or items newly added to the system with no ratings at all. When the user's preference evaluation data is sparse, two users or items are unlikely to have common ratings, and finally, CF will predict ratings using a very limited number of similar users. Moreover, it may produces biased recommendations because similarity weights may be estimated using only a small portion of rating data. In this study, we suggest a novel limitation of the conventional CF. The limitation is that CF does not consider qualitative and emotional information about users in the recommendation process because it only utilizes user's preference scores of the user-item matrix. To address this novel limitation, this study proposes cluster-indexing CF model with the structural hole analysis for recommendations. In general, the structural hole means a location which connects two separate actors without any redundant connections in the network. The actor who occupies the structural hole can easily access to non-redundant, various and fresh information. Therefore, the actor who occupies the structural hole may be a important person in the focal network and he or she may be the representative person in the focal subgroup in the network. Thus, his or her characteristics may represent the general characteristics of the users in the focal subgroup. In this sense, we can distinguish friends and strangers of the focal user utilizing the structural hole analysis. This study uses the structural hole analysis to select structural holes in subgroups as an initial seeds for a cluster analysis. First, we gather data about users' preference ratings for items and their social network information. For gathering research data, we develop a data collection system. Then, we perform structural hole analysis and find structural holes of social network. Next, we use these structural holes as cluster centroids for the clustering algorithm. Finally, this study makes recommendations using CF within user's cluster, and compare the recommendation performances of comparative models. For implementing experiments of the proposed model, we composite the experimental results from two experiments. The first experiment is the structural hole analysis. For the first one, this study employs a software package for the analysis of social network data - UCINET version 6. The second one is for performing modified clustering, and CF using the result of the cluster analysis. We develop an experimental system using VBA (Visual Basic for Application) of Microsoft Excel 2007 for the second one. This study designs to analyzing clustering based on a novel similarity measure - Pearson correlation between user preference rating vectors for the modified clustering experiment. In addition, this study uses 'all-but-one' approach for the CF experiment. In order to validate the effectiveness of our proposed model, we apply three comparative types of CF models to the same dataset. The experimental results show that the proposed model outperforms the other comparative models. In especial, the proposed model significantly performs better than two comparative modes with the cluster analysis from the statistical significance test. However, the difference between the proposed model and the naive model does not have statistical significance.
