  • This study investigated if and why there are gulfs between expectations and perceived value for usability. The main objectives of this study are as follows: (a) to examine the differences between expectation and perceived value for usability toward an OTA; and (b) to investigate the reason and purpose for customer visits toward an OTAs. By analyzing the distance between expected and the perceived value for the usability, OTAs can then close this distance and then be able to improve the usefulness of their websites. In addition, after investigating previous evaluation problems, that the various factors that are associated with tourism website evaluations, may be downsized to fit a comprehensive model for website evaluations. The results help to close the gap between expectation and perceived value by helping with the websites design, development, implementation, and management of systems. Based on those findings, effective strategies for OTAs marketing and promotional strategies are suggested.

  • A good animal model that simulates the human subject has not been available for the evaluation of the in vivo effectiveness of vaginal contraceptives. After careful consideration, The stumptailed macaque (Macaca arctoides) was studied for its applicability since it has a reproductive tract similar to that of the woman, is easy to handle, does not require tranquilization or anesthesia when the contraceptive is deposited, and breeds and conceives readily under caged conditions. The reported observations show the usefulness of this animal. Both postcoital sperm motility studies and breeding experiments were performed with the use of Delfen vaginal cream and K-Y jelly. K-Y jelly had no effect on the motility of vaginal spermatozoa or on the conception rate of the primates. Although Delfen vaginal cream consistently immobilized all spermatozoa in the postcoital test, half of the animals became pregnant within an average of 3.7 breeding cycles. These results illustrate the discrepancy between spermicidal tests and fertility measurements, and it is recommended that primate-breeding experiments be performed before a spermicide is evaluated in women as a contraceptive. • It is challenging to parallelize problems with irregular computation and communication. In this paper, we propose an asynchronous algorithm for balancing unpredictable workload on distributed-memory machines. By using an initial workload estimate, we first partition the computations such that the workload is distributed evenly across the processors. In addition, we perform task migrations dynamically for adapting to the evolving workload. To demonstrate the usefulness of our load balancing strategy, we conducted experiments on an IBM SP2 and a Cray T3D. Experimental results show that our task migration strategy can balance unpredictable workload with little overhead. Our code using C and MPI is portable onto other distributed-memory machines.

  • There is a general challenge offered to the field of engineering economics by the introduction of advanced technologies. A survey of the existing literature on evaluation of advanced information and manufacturing system indicate that the traditional approaches are inadequate for economic evaluation techniques used in its appraisal, difficulty in evaluating the potential benefits and criteria used to assess management performance. In this paper, an attempt has been made to overcome the above deficiencies by presenting an approach to account for the justification and selection of the Local Area Network(LAN) architectures. This is based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) and is capable of taking into account many intangible factors as well. The usefulness of the proposed approach is demonstrated through a case situation and sensitivity analysis. Finally, some research directions for future work are identified.

  • This study aims to examine the usefulness on the Evaluation Process for the Feasibility & Priority of A Certain Public Projects. and the Methodology used AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) which used pairwise comparisons of the alternatives and criteria for solving discrete alternative multicriteria decision problems. In this paper, we present a similar phenomenon, rank reversal problem, when we apply the AHP to group decision making process. The problem is identified by an example problem in that the previous rank order of Public Projects choices. we also present three different methods to prevent the undesirable characteristic of the original AHP in appling to Decision Making Process.

  • The aim of this study was to implement the system that could evaluate the function of urinary tract with noninvasive and comfort methods. There for in this study hardware device and computer software have been developed that enables the analysis of the urine flow rate and vesical pressure signal measured during voiding. These signals were recorded simultaneously and transmitted to the PC. For the measurement system evaluation, the model system for the lower urinary system of men was designed. From the evaluation of the model system, vesical pressure was correlated with the occlusion degree. In a pilot study on 5 male subjects, means of standard deviation was 1.06, average error rate was 2.09 and coefficient variation was 2.09.

  • Purpose of this study is to analyze the validity of textbook content on practical arts for the 6th curriculum, to grasp the content problems and to propose the strategy of reformation to be satisfied with consumer better than supplier. The data collected from 196 elemantary school teachers who lived in Gyungsang-namdo and analized by SPSS/PC(sup)+ package program. The statistical methods used for analysis were frequency, descriptives, validity, t-test, oneway ANOVA. The major findings can be summarised as follows: 1. The textbooks on practical arts for 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades showed unbalanced division for picture, figure, table unite and evaluation type of all units doesn’t show diversity. 2. The validity of textbook contents on practical arts was found to be the highest for 3rd grade textbook and the lowest for 6th grade one. Among the validity of the evaluation items,‘differentiation with other subject’and ‘usefulness of living’showed high scores, wheres ‘fitness of child level’marked lowest score. 3. There was no significant difference Among the validity contents of teachers based on socio-demographic variables.

  • This paper shows field test and evaluation results for a wireless vehicle detector with anisotropic magneto-resistive (AMR) sensors. The detector consists of two AMR sensors and mechanical and electronic apparatuses. The AMR sensor senses disturbance of the earth magnetic field caused by a vehicle moving over the sensor and then produces an output indicative of the moving vehicle. In this paper, vehicle speeds are calculated by using two AMR sensors fixed on a board, with constant distance. To test and evaluate the accuracy of the detector in real traffic situations, the detector was installed on a local highway and vehicle speeds and volumes were measured both in a free running and a highly congested traffic. The measurements from the detector are compared with the reference measurements obtained from a traffic camera with the Mean Absolute Percentage Errors (MAPE), which has proved the usefulness of the detector in the field.

  • The ever-increasing demand for H.264 scalable video coding (H.264/SVC) distribution motivates researchers to devise ways to enhance the quality of video delivered on the Internet. Furthermore, researchers and practitioners in general depend on computer simulators to analyze or evaluate their designed network architecture or proposed protocols. Therefore, a complete toolset, which is called myEvalSVC, for evaluating the delivered quality of H.264/SVC transmissions in a simulated environment is proposed to help the network and video coding research communities. The toolset is based on the H.264 Scalable Video coding streaming Evaluation Framework (SVEF) and extended to connect to the NS2 simulator. With this combination, people who work on video coding can simulate the effects of a more realistic network on video sequences resulting from their coding schemes, while people who work on network technology can evaluate the impact of real video streams on the proposed network architecture or protocols. To demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed new toolset, examples of H.264/SVC transmissions over 802.11 and 802.11e are provided.
