Purpose: We conducted this retrospective epidemiological study to assess the incidence and severity of lower extremity injuries in Korea Methods: For this study, we retrospectively reviewed nationwide lower-extremity injury data compiled from 2001 to 2003 based on the National Injury Database, what included National Health Insurance Corporation (NHIC), Car Insurance, and Industry Insurance data. Data were standardized in terms of demographic characteristics, region, and socioeconomic status by using NHIC data. To assess the degree of the injuries, we used the Modified Abbreviated Injury Scale (MoAIS), what has been changed from the International Classification of Disease-10 (ICD-10) code. By using the Excess Mortality Ratio-adjusted Injury Severity Score (EMR-ISS), we classified the degree of severity into four categories: mild, moderate, severe and critical. Results: From 2001 to 2003, lower extremity injuries increased slightly, with a yearly average of 2,437,335. Insurance data should that lower-extremity injuries were the most common, followed by upper-extremity injuries. Significant difference were seen in the numbers of lower extremity injuries based on gender and age. As for provinces, Seoul and Gyeongi provinces had the highest numbers of cases. Junlabukdo had the highest rate of 55,282 cases per 1 million people for standardized gender and population. The annual incidence of the insured patients with lower extrimity injuries was higher than the employer's medical insurance contributions to the medical insurance program. Daily cases occur most often in May and June, with the lowest occurrences being in January and February. Conclusion: The result of this study shows that lower extremity injuries comprised common cause of all injuries. In addition, differences associated with gender, location and socioeconomic status were observed. Further studies are needed to find reasons and then this knowledge will allow strategies to prevent the lower extremity injuries.
Traffic accidents at signalized intersections have been increased annually so that it is required to examine the causation to reduce the accidents. However, the current existing accident models were developed mainly by using non-linear regression models such as Poisson methods. These non-linear regression methods lack to reveal the complicated causation for traffic accidents, though they are the right choice to study randomness and non-linearity of accidents. Therefore, it is required to utilize another statistical method to make up for the lack of the non-linear regression methods. This study developed accident prediction models for 4 legged signalized intersections with Poisson methods and compared them with structural equation models. This study used structural equation methods to reveal the complicated causation of traffic accidents, because the structural equation method has merits to explain more causational factors for accidents than others.

VANET is one of the most developed technologies many people have considered a technology for the next generation. It basically utilizes the wireless technology and it can be used for measuring the speed of the vehicle, the location and even traffic control. With sharing those information, VANET can offer Cooperative ITS which can make a solution for a variety of traffic issues. In this way, safety for drivers, efficiency and mobility can be increased with VANET but data between vehicles or between vehicle and infrastructure are included with private information. Therefore alternatives are necessary to secure privacy. If there is no alternative for privacy, it can not only cause some problems about identification information but also it allows attackers to get location tracking and makes a target. Besides, people's lives or property can be dangerous because of sending wrong information or forgery. In addition to this, it is possible to be information stealing by attacker's impersonation or private information exposure through eavesdropping in communication environment. Therefore, in this paper we propose Privacy Assurance Architecture for VANET to ensure privacy from these threats.

Lane Designation is defined as reasonable road management to ensure the road safety and enhance road efficiency. While the lane designation system was abolished in 1999, it was redefined because of the increasing number of large vehicles in the passing lane, violent on driving and traffic accidents in 2000. The needs of improvement on operating the lane designation has been increasing more in recent due to the low ratio of compliance with the system and difficulties to keep the right lane due to need of turning and demand of widening of designates lane for two-wheeled vehicles and truck. In this study, we presented the improvement plan through the question survey, simulation analysis, safety evaluation. It found a problem that the low-speed vehicle is to use the upper level roadway, difficulties of supervision, the imbalance in the lane use, imbalance traffic and does not match the international standards. This study suggested five different alternatives through the survey. micro simulation has used in order to examine each alternative by management effectiveness and feasibility. It analyzed the traffic speed, efficiency, traffic balance of alternatives. Also, safety evaluation conducted in terms of the range of field-of-view to ensure the easiness of field of view by various configurational difference between the vehicles. By the analysis results of such indicators, This study presents proposals for improvement in operating designated lane that low-speed-big-sized vehicles keep to the right lane, and high-speed-small sized vehicles keep to the left lane.
As carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, is generally emitted by vehicles, the development and distribution of electric cars is important for the sustainability of environmentally-friendly tourism, especially in national parks. National parks in Korea, however, still see the use of traditional vehicles powered by internal combustion engines in the handling of visitors and the transportation of goods and staff. Such engines being the cause of environmental problems such as exhaust emission and noise pollution, the introduction of electric cars in national parks is needed. This study aims to analyze the economic value of electric cars in national parks as well as contribute to the development of the Green Transportation model in tourism destinations. The study used a logit model to estimate the willingness to pay for the introduction of electric cars in national parks. Adults over the age of twenty, with gender and age apportioned equally, were surveyed using questionnaires that included dichotomous as well as demographic questions. The findings show that the amount an individual is willing to pay for the purpose of environmental conservation is 3,948 won, while the value the national parks would derive from the use of electric cars is 56,138,130,000 won. The introduction of electric cars in national parks is expected to offer both direct and indirect benefits while helping to improving the environment of the national parks by eliminating exhaust emission and noise. This introduction would also be a response to climate change that can be taken by society as a whole.

Following the fatal accident of pedestrians caused by Autonomous Vehicle by Uber, the world's largest ride-hailing company, two people were killed in a self-driving car accident by Tesla in April. There is a need to ensure the safety of road users. Accordingly, in order to secure the safety of Autonomous Vehicle driving, it is necessary to evaluate Autonomous Vehicle driving technologies in various situations based on the road and traffic environment in which the Autonomous vehicle will actually drive. Therefore, this study used UC-win/Road ver.14.0 based on general driver's license test questions to present a virtual reality-based Autonomous Vehicles driving ability evaluation tool among various driving ability test method. Based on this, it was intended to test driving ability for unexpected situations in complex and diverse driving environments, and to confirm its practical applicability as an optimal tool for Autonomous vehicle ability test and evaluation.

Regarding the small- and medium-sized enterprises in Korea that manufacture the railway vehicle parts, there are over 250 related companies. And they have been surviving in the form of producing and delivering the parts of the railway vehicles by importing the technologies and the products of the foreign countries rather than possessing their own technological abilities. Due to this, regarding the industry of the core components of the railroads, the dependence on the overseas has been high. As such, although, for supporting the small- and medium-sized enterprises that manufacture the railway vehicle parts, the government has been strengthening the diverse policy supports, it is a fact that the effectiveness of the support is not high. And, in order to effectively support these, there is a need to understand clearly and definitely what the important promotion factors are in the process of the technology commercialization. Accordingly, through the precedent researches regarding the factors that promote the technology commercializations of the small- and medium-sized enterprises that manufacture the railway vehicle parts, this research had extracted 10 main items. And the level of the importance of these indices was analyzed by using the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process). As a result of the AHP analysis, the factors within a corporation appeared to be the most important factor. And, as for the lower-ranking item, the commercialization capability was analyzed to be the most important item. It is highly expected that the contents and the results of this research will be usefully used when formulating the planning of the support program and the support policy for the technology commercializations by the public research organizations and the railroad management organization, which is an organization that supports the small- and medium-sized enterprises that manufacture the railway vehicle parts.

Injury mechanisms of lower extremity injuries in motor vehicle accidents are focused on fractures, sprains, and contusions. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the analysis of lower extremity injury mechanism in occupant motor vehicle accident by using Hospital Information System (HIS) and reconstruction program, based on the materials related to motor vehicle accidents. Among patients who visited the emergency department of Wonju Severance Christian Hospital due to motor vehicle accidents from August 2012 to February 2014, we collected data on patients with agreement for taking the damaged vehicle's photos. After obtaining the verbal consent from the patient, we asked about the cause of the accident, information on vehicle involved in the accident, and the location of car repair shop. The photos of the damaged vehicle were taken on the basis of front, rear, left side and right side. Damage to the vehicle was presented using the CDC code by analytical study of photo-images of the damaged vehicle, and a trauma score was used for medical examination of the severity of the patient's injury. Among the 1,699 patients due to motor vehicle crashes, 88 (5.2%) received a diagnosis of lower extremity fracture and 141 (8.3%) were the severe who had ISS over 15. Nevertheless during 19 months for research, it was difficult to build up in-depth database about motor vehicle crashes. It has a limitation on collecting data because not only the system for constructing database about motor vehicle crash is not organized but also the process for demanding materials is not available due to prevention of personal information. For accurate analysis of the relationship between occupant injury and vehicle damage in motor vehicle crashes, build-up of an in-depth database through carrying out various policies for motor vehicle crashes is necessary for sure.

Global auto parts companies are making efforts to develop EWP(: Electric Water Pump) which is one of the core parts of environment friendly car. In eco-friendly automobiles, an independent cooling system is used rather than a cooling system that is linked to an internal combustion engine. Therefore, the research and development of the water pump operating separately from the engine and the related production system are being actively carried out. In order to overcome the shortcoming of EWP of PPS material suitable for injection system, G company which is a global parts company that researches and develops EWP around SUS and is in the process of developing robot-based production equipment for mass production. In this paper, a heat shock simulation system is designed and implemented that works with the robot-based production system to test the performance of the produced EWP. By using this system, it is possible to test the EWP in an virtual environment similar to the actual environment, thereby reducing the defect rate of the product. At the same time, all the data produced during the entire process for testing can be stored, which can be utilized in the future development of CPS(: Cyber Physical System) of EWP system based on big data.

This paper presents a braking model that can be used to design the safety distance of a train control system and a train braking system to increase the volume of traffic. For the braking model, a train set (electric multiple unit composed 6 cars) was tested. The factors that can affect the braking characteristics include the friction coefficient, braking pressure, and regenerative braking. The braking pressure was classified into service and emergency braking and reflected the characteristics of the vehicle. The external force acting on the running railway car was tested in accordance with KS R 9217, and the running resistance of the train is presented in the form of a polynomial. The dynamic behavior of the train running on a straight flat line was simulated using UM 8.3. The results were validated with experimental data, and the results were reasonable. With the validated model, a stopping distance was determined according to the initial braking speed and compared with the deceleration braking model. In addition, a safety distance for the train control system could be changed according to the frictional coefficient limits. These results are expected to be useful for analyzing the dynamic behavior of trains, and for analyzing various railway environments and improving the braking performance.
