It is necessary to understand the relationship between socio-cultural elements and smoking, alcohol, and marijuana use behaviors in order to plan public health policy or health promotion program of Mexican Americans. Demographic, socioeconomic status, and acculturation are variables which reflect mechanisms socialization influences these behavior patterns among this population. Thus, this study investigates the prevalence of addictive behaviors and individual differences on addictive behaviors related to variables of acculturation, age, gender, education, and income. And the interrelations among addictive behaviors are also examined. The analyses used data for Mexican Americans from the U.S. Hispanic Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted from July 1982 through December 1984 by the National Center for Health Statistics. ANOVA and correlation coefficients were used for this study. This study found that there are gender differences among addictive behaviors in their prevalence. Both males' and females' alcohol and marijuana use behaviors are positively related to the acculturation. Females' smoking behavior is positively related to acculturation while males' smoking is negatively related to it. Income and education are negatively related to males' smoking and positively related to males' alcohol behavior. However, males' marijuana behavior is not related to income. Females' smoking behaviors is not significantly related income and education. Education and income are positively related to marijuana behavior among females. Age is related to all three addictive behaviors among both gender. Age is negatively related to both males' and females' marijuana use behavior. Interrelation between smoking and marijuana use behavior is not significant among males. However, interrelations between alcohol and marijuana use behavior and between alcohol and smoking are significant among both genders. Females' smoking and marijuana use behavior is also significantly related.
This study aims to offer basic data for consumer education regarding the use of mobile phones by adolescent consumers in a correct way by researching and analyzing the consumption value and consumption behavior of adolescent consumers for mobile phones to see how they use mobile phone as consumers, which is a serious of user behaviors according to their plan, purchase, use, and disposal. Based on the research results, the study proposes the following in relation to the correct use of mobile phones by adolescent consumers. First, in the purchase or use of mobile phones, a more demonstrative consumption pattern was more likely for males than females and for those who are in higher grades than those who are not. Therefore, it is necessary to offer consumer education given the gender and school year rather than stereotyped consumer education. Second, it is necessary to offer objective information and give consumer education for checking the instant desire for something new in order to prevent an impulsive purchase based upon advertisements given the characteristics of adolescent consumers who prefer new designs or functions. Third, regarding the disposal of mobile phones, it is necessary to seek strategies for recycling mobile phones usefully at an administrative level to prevent mobile phones from being thrown away without being recycled.

This paper aims to enhance students' interest in the use of calculators in mathematics education and promote their use of calculators in real-life situations. Towards these ends, problem types and instructional models developed for the efficient utilization of calculators. The instructional models focus on teaching mathematics relying on the path through which expert teachers have gone through to gain relevant knowledge. By developing problem types and instructional models suitable for calculator use, We can contribute to a better attainment of instructional goals in mathematics education. The instructional models and problem types will aid teachers in making decisions about instructional development plan and basic features of instructional activities. The use of a new medium will also lead to increased interest and confidence in learning, thus contributing to the enhancement of students' ego.

We would like to suggest the guideline of use of materials of sexual education for adolescent in school by examining the status of use of materials and by evaluating the video materials frequently used. Survey was done by enquetes on status of use of materials of sexual education from school nurses in 190 primary, 44 middle and 50 high schools in Seoul, Kyonggi-do and Kangwon-do from August 1999 to February 2000. The frequently used 84 videotapes were evaluated on their contents. As for the status of use, 99.3% of subjected schools possessed the materials for sexual education. Decision of purchase was determined according to the review of contents (92.6%). Information about materials was received by the advertisement in newspapers or broadcasting (46.1%) or recommendation of peer teacher (32.4%). Videotape was most frequently used (64.1%) rather than books or CD. Teachers concerns on the materials were the educational content according to developmental stage of students (41.9%), content provoking interest (33.5%) and concrete guide for teacher (10.6%). As for the evaluation of the contents of videotapes, a subject of education was not described out of 46.6%. Videotape producer were mostly the Government-affiliated institutes or non-profit organizations (86.8%). The year of production was indicated from 41.7%. Objectives: This study aimed to estimate the trajectory of depressive symptoms among aged 20 years adults and examine the direct and indirect pathway linking socioeconomic status(education attainment, household income, occupation), alcohol use and depressive symptoms. It particularly focused on whether alcohol use would mediate the relationship between socioeconomic status and depressive symptoms. Methods: This study analysed 13,763 households of Korean Welfare Panel Study 1st, 2nd, 3rd data using Latent Growth Curve Modeling. Results: The results showed that study participants tend to decrease depressive symptoms with years. Similar to the findings of the previous studies, education attainment and household income among the socioeconomic status factors effected directly depressive symptoms and indirectly by mediating alcohol volume controlling sex and age. Conclusions: Based on findings of this study, the policy and practical implications were discussed.

Purpose: This quasi-experimental study was done to develop image-use medication education for older inpatients and to evaluate the effects on their knowledge, self-efficacy, and misuse of medication. Methods: Fifty nine elders (experimental group - 30, and control group - 29) received medication education once a week for 3 weeks. Data were collected before (pretest), right after (post 1), and 4 weeks after the program finished (post 2). Drug Use Knowledge Scale, Self-efficacy for Appropriate Medication Use Scale, and Drug Misuse Scale were used. Analysis included descriptive statistics, $x^2$ test, repeated measured ANOVA. Results: Findings showed significant differences in knowledge of medication and drug misuse between groups according to time(pretest, post 1, and post 2). At post 1 and post 2, knowledge and self-efficacy levels were significantly higher and misuse scores were lower in the experimental group compared to the control group. Conclusion: Findings indicate that elder-tailored medication education consisting of group education and individual guidance with images is effective and practical for medicine safety in elderly inpatients. Moreover, it could lead to a healthier life for elders, even elders with multiple chronic diseases and taking several medications.
The effect of improving awareness by educational programs for improving the quality of daily life of the disabled and safety depends on the type of disability and individual differences, as well as the difficulty in evaluating education achievement and satisfaction. However, more effective programs can be developed and provided if the factors affecting the effectiveness of education can be identified. Training as one of the factors affecting effectiveness involves motivation. This is thought to be an important factor for any object regardless of the type of disability. It is recognized that "By providing programs for the disabled to immerse themselves, they can be motivated to participate in education and expect greater effects on educational effects." Gamification is convincing enough for general learning. Furthermore, a feature of gamification is the use of the game's structure to achieve its goal, which acts on participants' motivation. Some use game packages such as analog games and digital games, but some include gamification of activities themselves. The use of gamification in education has different characteristics from the development of businesses. Therefore, in this paper, we reviewed the current status and challenges with the aim of promoting the use of gamification in life safety education for the disabled.
