  • Operational Concept Descriptions or Document(OCD) shall be developed to understand stakeholder's desire for to-be-delivered system. But there is little study on methodology of OCD generation and many developers do not understand importance of OCD in Korea. According to Nicole Roberts' industry(18 U.S. companies and organizations) survey, only 30% of system development projects had OCD, too. Researchers and developers have opposing views regarding the generation of an OCD. Many researchers believe that the development and use of operational concepts at the start of large projects is essential. Alternatively, developers may view the OCD as a burden to the development process rather than an enabler due to the extensive documentation requirement. In this paper a couple of OCD guidelines were investigated to clarify how to build a CONOPS effectively and what to include. Finally, OCD for rotorcraft based Personal Air Vehicle System(PAVS) was developed as a case study. In the future, a template for generating OCD appropriate to Korean environment could be proposed.

  • In this paper, we use the OFDM transmission channel model applied to the MIMO antennas considering spatial propagation property to evaluate and investigate the ergodic capacity of the channel. Specially, we have applied our results to 3GPP TR 25.99 V1.1.0 case 1 LOS off channel description and calculated ergodic capacity with parameters, cluster angle spread and angle of arrival(AOA). Our results show that as the cluster angle spread increase the channel capacity increase until 35 degree, but for more than 35 degree channel capacity does not improved.

  • One of the significant problems in the design of onshore pipelines in seismic areas is their stability in case of liquefaction. Several model tests and numerical analyses allow investigating the behavior of pipelines when the phenomenon of liquefaction occurs. While experimental tests contribute significantly toward understanding the liquefaction mechanism, they are costly to perform compared to numerical analyses; on the other hand, numerical analyses are difficult to execute, because of the complexity of the soil behavior in case of liquefaction. This paper reports an overview of the existing computational methods to evaluate the stability of onshore pipelines in liquefied soils, with particular attention to the development of excess pore water pressures and the floatation of buried structures. The review includes the illustration of the mechanism of floating and the description of the available calculation methods that are classified in static and dynamic approaches. We also highlighted recent trends in numerical analyses. Moreover, for the static condition, referring to the American Petroleum Institute (API) Specification, we computed and compared the uplift safety factors in different cases that might have a relevant practical use.

  • A library catalog is most important finding tool to a library collection. This tool should be so designed as to enable users to handle with ease and convenience. Library catalog use study is necessary in order to identify the demands made on the catalog by its actual users and to measure the adequacy with which the catalog is meeting these demands. Many major catalog use surveys were performed by means of questionnaire and interview, but these methods are so difficult and perverse that the results of catalog use studies might often be far from scientific precision. The aim of this paper is to seek the guidelines with which one might assist the catalogers in providing an effective library catalog for their patrons. In order to get the first-hand information an actual survey was undertaken on searching behavior at the catalog of Jeonbug National University Library from November 30 to December 5, 1981 and from May 17 to May 22, 1982. The results of the survey can be summarized as follows: 1. Most of the students (79.77%) use the library. 2. Most of the library patrons (74.52%) use the public catalog as the searching tool to the library collection. 3. 67.85% of the catalog users are interested in searching materials written in Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. 4. 72.86% of the catalog users are interested in searching known items at catalog. 5. In known item searching, 49.44% of the catalog users choose title entry. 6. 20.17% of the catalog users are interested subject searching at the catalog. 7. Reference card is not utilized in searching. 8. For the translated items users want double entries in both vernacular and Korean. 9. At current catalog description, author, title, call number, translator, publisher and joint author are useful entry. Edition, author's date of birth and death, illustrative, size of book and bibliographical notes are not much utilized. 10. 55.39% of the catalog user need systematic guidance on how to use the library catalog and collection.

  • Power plant is that very high reliability when industrial and economic impact on the overall electric power system is required, it is essential to improve the reliability, especially the fault prediction diagnosis. Since an accident caused by the partial discharge in the power plant is above state has a faster response characteristic than the other indications in the case of any, the partial discharge generated in the power plant immediately detect the deterioration of insulation due to the accident of the power plant and the non-drawn It should prevent or reduce. Partial Discharge Measuring Systems for UHV SF6 Gas Insulated Switchgear and power transformer on site installed has some probability of abnormal recognition in case of non-flexible deal with on site noise. Many methode to eliminate these kinds of noises, UHF Detection System is chosen as purchase description in Korea, but this system having a bandwidth between 500MHz 1.5GHz wide band. Initial install periods(about 20 years ago), this band had no strong signal source, but in these days this wide band have strong signals, such as LTE. So, module described in this paper is designed as simultaneously use with wide and narrow band for solve this noise problem, and introduce this system.

  • Objective: This study aimed to introduce cases of exposure to humidifier disinfectant (HD) in hospitals and to present their exposure characteristics. Methods: We used data from 4,393 subjects who participated in the fourth assessment survey of environmental exposure to HD conducted by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute. In this study, we selected 301 subjects who reported their place of use of HD as a hospital. Then, we classified cases as 'Hospital-provided'. 'Probably hospital-provided', 'Individual purchased', and 'Unknown' according to the supply sources of HD. Also, we introduced detailed exposure characteristics for the selected cases. Results: Of the 4,393 subjects, 301 (6.9%) reported the use of HD in 392 hospitals (including duplicate answers for the use in ${\geq}2$ hospitals). The 301 hospital-user subjects included 139 survivors and 162 non-survivors. When we classified the 392 cases by supply sources, 'Hospital-provided' was 12.2% (48 cases), 'Probably hospital-provided' was 25.5% (100 cases), 'Individual purchased' was 59.7% (234 cases), and 'Unknown' was 2.6% (10 cases). Among the 'Hospital-provided' cases, we selected six cases and provided a detailed description of the HD use in this study. Additionally, we reported details for six cases that had purchased HD upon a doctor or nurse's recommendation and for three cases that had purchased it at hospital stores. Conclusion: This study presents various cases of HD exposure in hospitals. Because there may be a considerable burden of HD exposure in public spaces, including hospitals, further studies are necessary to assess HD exposure in hospitals and public places.

  • Component-based development leverages software reusability and reduces development costs. Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) is a component model developed to reduce the complexity of software development and to facilitate reuse of components. However, EJB does not support component assembly by a plug-and-play technique due to the hard-wired composition at the code level. To cope with this problem, an architecture for EJB component assembly is defined at the abstract level and the inconsistency between the system architecture and its implementation must be eliminated at the implementation level. We propose a component-based application development tool named the COBALT assembler that supports the design and implementation of EJB component assembly by a plug-and-play technique based on the architecture style. The system architecture is first defined by the Architecture Description Language (ADL). The wrapper code and glue code are then generated for the assembly. After the consistency between the architecture and its implementation is checked, the assembled EJB components are deployed in an application server as a new composite component. We use the COBALT assembler for a shopping mall system and demonstrate that it can promote component reuse and leverage the system maintainability.

  • Since LINAC-based stereotactic radiosurgery uses multiple noncoplanar arcs, three-dimensional dose evaluation and many beam parameters, a lengthy computation time is required to optimize even the simplest case by a trial and error. The basic approach presented in this paper is to show promising methods using an experimental optimization and an analytic optimization The purpose of this paper is not to describe the detailed methods, but introduce briefly, proceeding research done currently or in near future. A more detailed description will be shown in ongoing published papers. Experimental optimization is based on two approaches. One is shaping the target volumes through the use of multiple isocenters determined from dose experience and testing. The other method is conformal therapy using a beam's eye view technique and field shaping. The analytic approach is to adapt computer-aided design optimization in finding optimum irradiation parameters automatically.

  • E-science refers to the large-scale science that will increasingly be carried out through distributed global collaborations enabled by the Internet. The Grid is a service-oriented architecture proposed to provide access to very large data collections, very large scale computing resources and remote facilities. Web services, which are server applications, enable online access to service providers. Web portal interfaces can further hide the complexity of accessing facility's services. The main use of synchrotron radiation (SR) facilities by protein crystallographers is to collect the best possible diffraction data for reasonably well defined problems. Significant effort is therefore being made throughout the world to automate SR protein crystallography facilities so scientists can achieve high throughput, even if they are not expert in all the techniques. By applying the above technologies, the e-HTPX project, a distributed computing infrastructure, was designed to help scientists remotely plan, initiate and monitor experiments for protein crystallographic structure determination. A description of both the hardware and control software is given together in this paper.
