The development of efficient multimodal interfaces and fusion algorithms requires knowledge of usage patterns that show how people use multiple modalities. We analyzed multimodal usage patterns for TV-guide application scenarios (or tasks). In order to collect usage patterns, we implemented a multimodal usage pattern collection system having two input modalities: speech and touch-gesture. Fifty-four subjects participated in our study. Analysis of the collected usage patterns shows a positive correlation between the task type and multimodal usage patterns. In addition, we analyzed the timing between speech-utterances and their corresponding touch-gestures that shows the touch-gesture occurring time interval relative to the duration of speech utterance. We believe that, for developing efficient multimodal fusion algorithms on an application, the multimodal usage pattern analysis for the given application, similar to our work for TV guide application, have to be done in advance.

Internet of Things is an infrastructure of the interconnected devices. In Internet of Things environment, many smart devices are used in daily life. It requires a new retrieval method using multiple devices. We propose an information retrieval method using both device characteristics and device usage characteristics in multi-device environments. Firstly, information retrieval is performed using a general purpose device. And then, it is performed using dedicated devices. Our method uses both characteristics of the devices and usage characteristics of them. Moreover, it considers queries on the general purpose device. This paper proposes a new retrieval method and describes algorithms. Then, it presents smart home scenarios. Performance evaluation is performed using the scenarios. The evaluation results show higher precision and efficiency than previous researches. The proposed method gets information more accurately and quickly in IOT multiple device environments.
The Basic Profile has helped interoperability. Sample Application experience is already reflected in a most major platforms. Usage Scenarios valuable in identifying where BP restrictions apply. Testing is critical.
In this study, the S University's energy usage, greenhouse gas emissions situation and potential reduction amount were analyzed using a long-term energy analysis model, LEAP. In accordance with the VISION 2020 and university's own improvement plans, S University plans to complete a second campus through expansion constructions by 2020 and by allocating the needed land. Accordingly, increases in energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions seem inevitable. Hence, in this study, the calculations of potential reduction amount by 2020 were attempted through the use of LEAP model by categorizing the energy used based on usage types and by proposing usage typebased reduction methods. There were a total of 4 scenarios: a standard scenario that predicted the energy usage without any additional energy reduction activity; energy reduction scenario using LED light replacement; energy reduction scenario using high efficiency building equipment; and a scenario that combines these two energy reduction scenarios. As scenario-based results, it was ascertained that, through the scenario that had two other energy reduction scenarios combined, the 2020 greenhouse gas emissions amount would be 14,916 tons of $CO_2eq$, an increase of 43.7% compared to the 2010 greenhouse gas emissions amount. Put differently, it was possible to derive a result of about 23.7% reduction of the greenhouse gas emissions amount for S University's greenhouse gas emissions amount through energy reduction activities. In terms of energy reduction methods, changing into ultra-high efficiency building equipment would deliver the most amount of reduction.

With the introduction of BIM and ICT technology, 'Cloud-based collaborative design support system' has been actively researched and new user interface is needed to support it. When developing the user interface, scenario - based design method is selected which based on the actual usage scenarios to anticipate the usage situation and reflect the user's requirements. However, since the existing scenario-based design technique is an inductive method, it is difficult to cover the usage situation of all users when creating the usage scenario. For this reason, there is a need for a new scenario creation method that can systematically create and modify scenarios instead of inductive methods. This study proposes a 'Multi-scenario-based design method' that complemented the existing method and verify its usability by applying it to the user interface development process of 'Cloud-based collaborative design support system'.

This paper presents ideas of service scenarios for home residents using electric power monitoring system per appliance, the implementation of the monitoring system, and analysis of acquired electric power usage pattern. By acquiring and analyzing electric power usage pattern, home residents can get information of power usage pattern of every legacy (non-Demand Response-ready) appliance. Further they can get pieces of recommendation how to reduce energy consumption, intelligent standby power blocking service, and alarming service to abnormality of appliances. In order to check the feasibility of the ideas, a system that can acquire electric power pattern per appliance is implemented, and electric power pattern of some appliances are stored to a database and it was analyzed to show if auto-identification of a type of a device is possible, which is a basic required function for the scenarios presented.

In this paper, we suggest a usage profiles for electric home appliances. In Korea, it is published the records for total consumption of electricity in a house but the electric home appliance consumption records in a households are not. To build the data, we must collect the usage of every appliances in a house and the information of the household which live in the house. Unfortunately, it is hard to get the data because of the worry about the breach of privacy. In this paper, we make a scenarios on the electricity consumption pattern of a few households type. Based on the conjecture, we make the power consumption profiles for some home appliances. Comparison to the total electric consumption records for a house, we found our scenarios are quite reasonable.
Adolescent media addiction has emerged as an important social agenda in Korea. However, there has not been enough discussion on the causal structure of media addiction and policy interventions. The objective of this study is to identify and assess the mechanism of the existing and the revised Shutdown policy based on the systems thinking approach. To achieve this purpose, we establish the relationship between media usage, flow, and addiction, and develop a causal loop diagram. Based on the causal loop diagram, we explore the causal structure of two policy scenarios: shutdown policy and deregulation. Our study suggests that policy interventions inducing direct parental control on children's media usage time are ineffective since the time control reduces children's autonomy, which helps alleviate media addiction. Therefore, this study suggests that policy intervention should focus on alleviating addiction itself rather than on controlling media usage time.

This study investigated the effect of self-efficacy on the usage intention of the size recommendation services, exploring the mediating roles of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Moreover, it examined the moderating effects of filtering types on these relationships. Data were collected from 200 participants between December 11 and 13, 2023, using virtual scenarios and stimuli. Mediating and moderating effect analysis were performed using a process macro. As a result of path analysis and indirect effect analysis between individual variables, it was confirmed that the direct effect of self-efficacy for the size recommendation services on usage intention, and the indirect effect on usage intention through perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness were significant. Furthermore, as a result of the moderating effect analysis, it was found that the moderating effect of the filtering types was significant in the relationship between self-efficacy and perceived ease of use, between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness, and between self-efficacy and usage intention.
Usage control models are the new breed of access control models that allow description of comprehensive policies for usage of protected content. In this paradigm, decisions regarding access to objects are not limited to request time only. It is coupled with the usage of the protected objects and becomes a continuous process carried out in parallel to the usage. The realization of usage control has been a long standing research problem to overcome the issue of loss of control in secure document dissemination. With the emergence of cloud computing, documents are stored in the cloud, the document viewers and editors themselves reside in the cloud and are accessed from thin clients such as browsers. We note that such scenarios provide an ideal opportunity for the realization of usage control for securing the usage of documents based on the stakeholders' policies. In this paper, we proposed Multimedia Content Management (MCM) for a better realization multimedia content in the cloud based applications. We designed a robust architecture to provide fine-grained control over usage of protected objects through the use of emerging cloud computing paradigm. We present the design principles for this realization and discuss our proposed architecture.
