In order to apply a photocatalyst (TiO2) to various building materials, TiO2-mayenite was prepared in this study. The TiO2 was synthesized using the sol-gel method by fixing titanium isopropoxide (TTIP) and urea at a ratio of 1 : 1. Later, they were calcined in a temperature range of 400-700 ℃ to analyze the properties according to temperature. BET, TGA, and XRD were used to analyze the physical and chemical properties of TiO2. The nitrogen oxide removal test was confirmed by measuring the change in the concentration of NO for 1 h according to KS L ISO 22197-1. The prepared TiO2 samples exhibited an anatase crystal structure below 600 ℃, and TiO2 (urea)-400 showed the highest nitrogen oxide removal rate at 2.35 µmol h-1. TiO2-mayenite was prepared using two methods: spraying TiO2 dispersion solution (s/s) and sol-gel solution (g/s). Through BET and XRD analysis, it was found that 5-TiO2 (g/s) prepared by spraying a sol-gel solution has maintained its crystallinity even after heat treatment. Also, 5-TiO2 (g/s)-500 showed the highest removal rate of 0.55 µmol h-1 in the nitrogen oxide removal test. To prepare TiO2-mayenite, it was confirmed that mayenite should be blended with TiO2 in a sol-gel state to maintain the crystal structure and exhibit a high nitrogen oxide removal rate.
An experiment was carried out to assess the effect of feeding concentrate mixtures varying in bypass protein levels with urea-treated or untreated grass on the performance of twelve Red Kandhari calves (14 months of age and 78.15 kg body weight) for a period of 75 days. Dry grass was treated with 4 percent urea solution and ensiled for 30 days. The CP ($N{\times}6.25$) content in urea treated grass increased from 3.96 to 8.89 percent. Two iso-caloric and iso-nitrogenous concentrate mixtures (CM-I and CM-II) varying in RDP to UDP ratio viz., 65:35 and 55.45 were prepared. The calves in control group ($T_1$) were fed concentrate mixture-I with ad libitum untreated dry grass and those in experimental group ($T_2$) were fed concentrate mixture-II with ad libitum urea treated dry grass. The dry matter consumption in group $T_2$ was significantly (p<0.01) higher as compared to group $T_1$. The total DMI in $T_1$ and $T_2$ was 146.92 and 166.95 kg respectively, whereas the DMI per day and per 100 kg body weight was 1.94 and 2.22 and 1.90 and 2.35 kg, respectively. The average total gain in body weight (kg) and average daily gain (g) of calves in $T_2$ was significantly (p<0.01) higher as compared to those in $T_1$ the values being 28.66, 18.33 and 382.16, 244.44, respectively. Feed efficiency in terms of kg DM per kg gain in body weight was significantly (p<0.01) lower in group $T_1$ than in $T_2$. The cost of feed per kg gain in body weight for $T_2$ and $T_1$ group was Rs. 21.14, 28.22, respectively. The digestibility coefficients of DM, CP, EE, CF, NFE, NDF and ADF were 59.60, 57.50, 53.00, 65.04, 45.82, 48.48, 52.48 and 55.73 for $T_1$ group. The coressponding values were 68.78, 67.80, 59.83, 71.41, 49.93, 53.37 and 57.81, respectively for $T_2$ group. The digestibility coefficients for all the proximate principles in $T_2$ were significantly (p<0.01) higher as compared to $T_1$. However, NDF and ADF digestibilities were not significantly different. Nutritive value determined in terms of DCP and TDN for The experimental ration was significantly (p<0.01) higher than control ration, the values being 7.32 and 47.34 and 9.39 and 52.40% respectively. The blood urea nitrogen levels at 0, 3 and 6 h interval after feeding were significantly (p<0.01) lower in calves fed experiment ration as compared to control. The overall results indicated that in Red Kandhari calves an optimum growth can be economically achieved by feeding 4 percent urea treated dry and mature grass as basal roughage supplemented with a concentrate mixture containing 20 percent CP, 70% TDN and 45% UDP/bypass protein.
The effect of urea treatment on chemical composition of neem seed kernel cake (NSKC) was investigated by soaking the cake in 2.1% urea solution (1.2 l $kg^{-1}$ NSKC) for five days. The effect on utilisation of nutrients by replacing groundnut cake (GNC) (30%) with urea-treated neem seed kernel cake (UTNSKC) (33%) in a concentrate mixture fed to meet 70% of the protein requirements of lambs (8 males and 8 females), was monitored in a digestibility study. Following urea treatment of NSKC only 9.5% of urea was hydrolysed and the crude protein content of the cake was increased by 6.65%. The tannin content in depulped neem seeds was 37% catechin equivalent. Whereas feeding UTNSKC had no effect on intake of dry matter (72.5 vs 66.3 g/kg $BW^{0.75}day^{-1}$) and digestibility of crude fibre (41.3 vs 43.4%), the cake depressed (p<0.01) the percent digestibility of dry matter (63.7 vs 70.2), crude protein (63.2 vs 70.2), nitrogen free extract (73.8 vs 80.5) and gross energy (64.3 vs 69.1). Digestibility of ether extract (75.8 vs 70.9%) was higher (p<0.05) in animals offered UTNSKC. The nutritive value of the composite ration consumed by lambs offered UTNSKC was lower (p<0.01) in terms of total digestible nutrients (64.7 vs 70.2%) and digestible energy (2.8 vs 3.0 Kcal/g DM). Intake of digestible energy (199.8 vs 194.1 Kcal/kg $BW^{0.75}day^{-1}$) and retention of nitrogen (7.53 vs 8.23 g $day^{-1}$) and calcium (2.12 vs 1.84 g $day^{-1}$) were comparable on the 2 rations. Animals fed UTNSKC retained less (p<0.01) phosphorus (0.37 vs 1.05 g $day^{-1}$). The results indicate that urea treatment increased the protein level of NSKC whereas feeding the treated cake as a replacement of GNC, lowered the digestibility of nutrients and retention of phosphorus.

Nano-crystalline slaked lime was synthesized using design of experiment. In order to synthesize slaked lime, calcium chloride $(CaCl_2)$ and urea were used as starting materials. Calcium chloride solution and urea solution were mixed and heated in vessel that calcium carbonate was precipitated during heating. Precipitates were filtered, washed several times using D.I.water and ethanol and finally dried in oven. Slaked lime $(Ca(OH)_2)$ has been fabricated by the hydration of calcined $CaCO_3$. Design of experiment (Taguchi method) was used to optimize parameter, to minimize noise factors of experiment and to statistically analyze the results. Slaked lime having about 50 nm in optimized crystallite size could be obtained by calcination of $CaCO_3$ at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 0.5 h and hydration with D.I water containing ethanol and oxalic acid.

IMO NOx levels are generally possible to meet by means of primary on-engine measures. Nevertheless further significant follow-on reductions are likely to require a secondary after-treatment technique. SCR system is currently the only available technology proven at full scale to meet the 90% NOx reduction levels. Accordingly, maybe the use of an SCR system on board ship provides the solution to minimize this primary pollutant without increasing fuel consumption. In order to develop a practical SCR system for marine application on board ship, a primary SCR system using urea was made. The SCR system was set up on the ship. employed a two-stroke diesel engine as a main propulsion. which is a training ship in KMU (Korea Maritime Univ.). The purpose of this paper is to report the results about the basic effects of the above system parameters which is investigated from practical application through its trial use. The degree of NOx removal depends on some parameters. such as the amount of urea solution added, space velocity. reaction gas temperature and activity of catalyst. The preliminary results from trial run are presented.

This study was carried out to investigate the characterization of cadmium adsorption by cellulose hydrogel and aerogel. Hydrogel and aerogel were made from ashless pulp dissolved in alkali hydroxide-urea aqueous solution and manufactured in film and bead types. After regeneration of cellulose, hydrogel went through the process of substitution of organic solvent and freeze-dry in order to make aerogel. SEM was used to analyze the microstructure of hydrogel and aerogel. Experiment was conducted in various concentrations and pH conditions to find out the characteristic of cadmium adsorption. After that, EDS was used to identify existence and distribution of cadmium in hydrogel and aerogel. The result from comparisons of cadmium adsorption shows that bead type aerogel has the maximum cadmium adsorption and film type hydrogel has the minimum cadmium adsorption.

The enzyme-induced carbonate precipitation (EICP) method has been investigated to improve the hydro-mechanical properties of natural soil deposits. This study was conducted to explore the stiffness evolution during various stress scenarios. First, the optimal concentration of urea, CaCl2, and urease for the maximum efficiency of calcite precipitation was identified. The results show that the optimal recipe is 0.5 g/L and 0.9 g/L of urease for 0.5 M CaCl2 and 1 M CaCl2 solutions with a urea-CaCl2 molar ratio of 1.5. The shear stiffness of EICP-treated sands remains constant up to debonding stresses, and further loading induces the reduction of S-wave velocity. It was also found that the debonding stress at which stiffness loss occurs depends on the void ratio, not on cementation solution. Repeated loading-unloading deteriorates the bonding quality, thereby reducing the debonding stress. Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray images reveal that higher concentrations of CaCl2 solution facilitate heterogeneous nucleation to form larger CaCO3 nodules and 11-12 % of CaCO3 forms at the interparticle contact as the main contributor to the evolution of shear stiffness.

In this study, we developed the h-BN interphase for ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) through a wet chemical coating method, which has excellent price competitiveness and is a simple process as a departure from the existing high cost chemical vapor deposition method. The optimum condition for nitriding an h-BN interphase using boric acid and urea as precursors were derived, and the h-BN interphase coating through a wet method on a carbon preform of 2.5 D was conducted to apply the optimum conditions to the CMCs. In order to control the coating property via the wet coating method, four parameters were investigated such as dipping time of the specimen in the precursor solution, the ratio of boric acid and urea in the precursor, the concentration of solution where the precursor was dissolved, and the cycle of dipping and dry process. The CMCs was fabricated through polymer impregnation and pyrolysis (PIP) processes and a three-point flexural strength test was conducted to verify the role of the coated h-BN interphase.
The study investigated the effect of carrier composition (ionic strength and pH) on the retention of various proteins in flow field-flow fractionation (Flow FFF) as well as the conformational change of Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) with urea concentration, storage time and temperature. The study found that the retention of protein in Flow FFF increased with the ionic strength of the carrier liquid. Most proteins were well solubilized at pH = 7-8. The hydrodynamic diameters obtained from Flow FFF retention data agree well with theoretical values. The retention increased and the peak shape became distorted at extreme pH conditions of the carrier solution. The selected carrier composition for comparison between the literature value of proteins was 0.05 M tris buffer solution with a pH of 8. Storing BSA at 4 ±2℃ over a period of three months resulted in slow dimerization. Also, in case of the storage of BSA at 37 ±5℃ for one week, the retention of both BSA monomer and dimer increased with the urea concentration. Finally, the structural composition of specific enzymes: malonyl-CoA decarboxylase (MCDC) and malonyl-CoA synthesis (MCS) was determined by using Flow FFF at specific carrier solutions. The molecular weight of the natural MCDC was determined to be 208 kDa, which means it is a homotetramer, while that of the MCS was determined to be 47 kDa, which means it is a monomer.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the change of the chemical properties of wool treated with six kinds of alkali (NaOH, Naac03, NH40H, NH2CH3CH30H, TMAH and BTMAH) with or without CTAB. Content of bound fatty acid liberated from wool surface, elemental composition and allw6rden time were measured to compare the surface modification of untreated and alkali treated wool. Also, the chemical degradation of the fiber was investigated by measuring cystine contents and urea-hydrogensulfite solubility. The result were as follows: 1. By the alkali treatment of wool, the covalently bound fatty acid of the epicuticle was removed and the allworden time was shortened, and in the case of wool treated with TMAH, BTMAH, the allw6rden sacs were formed unevenly and rarely. Also, cystine contents and urea-hydrogensulfite solubility were decreased by alkali treatment on wool. 2. The modification of epicuticle and the chemical degradation of wool were occurred due to alkaline hydrolysis in the order of TMAH, BTMAH > NaOH, Na3c03> NH2CH3CHaOH, NH40H. 3. As a treating time increased, the modification of epicuticle and chemical degradation of wool were accelerated. By the addition of CTAB to the alkali solution, the modification of epicuticle was increase, and the cystine contents and urea-hydrogensulfite solubility were reduced than that of wool teated with alkli without CTAB due to reduction of negative charge on the wool surface by the adhesion of CTAB.
