Improved Scheduling Approach IN SC-FDMA

  • Single Carrier Frequency Domain Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) has proven to be the best long term evolution for uplink multiple access because of its low Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR), a feature that leads to low power consumption. This is achievable only if the resource allocation is performed in a contiguous manner. This paper proposes a new approach with an improvement in the global resources allocation. The new approach presented utilizes the gain function, which adopts some of the procedures deduced from the older Recursive Maximum Expansion (RME) algorithm. The experiment proved that the new approach is better than the original RME algorithms and in most cases, is closer to the optimal solution.

  • This paper deals with optimal power allocation for channel estimation of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing uplinks in time-varying channels. In the existing literature, the estimation of time-varying channel response in an uplink environment can be accomplished by estimating the corresponding channel parameters. Accordingly, the optimal power allocation studied in the literature has been in terms of minimizing the mean square error of the channel estimation. However, the final goal for channel estimation is to enable the application of coherent detection, which usually means high spectral efficiency. Therefore, it is more meaningful to optimize the power allocation in terms of capacity. In this paper, we investigate capacity with imperfect channel estimation. By exploiting the derived capacity expression, an optimal power allocation strategy is developed. With this developed power allocation strategy, improved performance can be observed, as demonstrated by the numerical results.

  • 차세대 양방향데이터방송 (BIFS: BInary Format for Scenes) 서비스에서는 하향링크(downlink) 데이터 전송률에 상응하는 높은 상향링크(uplink) 데이터 전송률이 요구되고 있다. 이에 무선 전송 채널의 한정된 자원 환경 속에서 상향링크 전송용량 증대를 위한 주파수 효율성 제고 기술의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 차세대 양방향데이터방송을 위한 다중 모바일(mobile) 사용자의 클러스터(cluster) 기반 상향링크 협동 다이버시티(cooperative diversity) 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 하나의 단일 안테나(single antenna) 방송 기지국과 다수의 단일 안테나 모바일 사용자가 있는 상향링크 시분할다중접속 (TDMA: Time Division Multiple Access) 시스템에서 데이터 지연허용(delay-tolerant)에 따라 클러스터를 구성하고 제곱 다이버시티 차수(square diversity order)의 협동 프로토콜(cooperative protocol)을 통해 높은 공간다이버시티 이득(spatial diversity gain)을 얻는다. 또한, 비대칭(asymmetric) 무선 채널 환경에서 공정성(fairness)을 보장한다.

Robust Energy Efficiency Power Allocation for Uplink OFDM-Based Cognitive Radio Networks

  • This paper studies the energy efficiency power allocation for cognitive radio networks based on uplink orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing. The power allocation problem is intended to minimize the maximum energy efficiency measured by "Joule per bit" metric, under total power constraint and robust aggregate mutual interference power constraint. However, the above problem is non-convex. To make it solvable, an equivalent convex optimization problem is derived that can be solved by general fractional programming. Then, a robust energy efficiency power allocation scheme is presented. Simulation results corroborate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

P2P 기반의 IPTV 환경에서 UCC 방송을 위한 시스템 설계 (Design of UCC Broadcasting System in P2P Based IPTV Environments)

  • In this paper, we propose an UCC broadcasting system in P2P based IPTV environments. Proposed system applies P2P based multiple chain architecture. UCC broadcasting system transfers data from not ISP server but UCC server peer that is included in DSLAM to joined peers. Therefore an algorithm to manage join and departure of peers have to modified. In this paper we propose an algorithm that does not increase an uplink bandwidth of DSLAM that include UCC server when peer joins to the UCC channel. We will show the improved performance of proposed scheme rather than general method with respect to the uplink bandwidth of DSLAM that include UCC server.

  • CDMA/TOD with asymmetric capacity allocation between uplink and downlink is a highly attractive solution to support the next generation mobile systems. This is because flexible asymmetric allocation of capacity to uplink and downlink usually improves the utilization of the limited bandwidth. In this paper, we mathematically formulate an optimal timeslot and code allocation problem, which is to maximize the total utility considering the numbers of codes(channels) allocated to each data class and the forced terminations of previously allocated codes. We also suggest a real-time integrated timeslot and code allocation scheme using Lagrangean relaxation and subgradient optimization techniques. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme provides high-quality solutions in a fast time.

  • In early 2004, KARI developed 5ft S-Band TT&C antenna for especially KOMPSAT-2 operation in LEOP phase. This paper shows system features of 5ft S-Band antenna and its test result with KOMPSAT-l. Tracking test, command uplink test and telemetry downlink test were performed. Through tests, 5ft antenna was verified to be operational in uplink and downlink with KOMPSAT series. Due to its inherent wide 3dB beam-width of about 7deg at S-Band, this antenna system can be used very effectively even though orbital information is less accurate like LEOP and spacecraft safe mode.

  • A new diversity technique is proposed for multi-user single-input single-output (SISO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) uplink system. Each user transmit a symbol using frequency band of all users that are active in the uplink. In addition, a receiver detect each signal using maximum likelihood (ML) method. Simulation results show that the proposed technique improves a diversity order without an additional bandwidth and a loss of data rate.

  • A new frequency offset estimator using low cross-property of PN sequences is proposed in the orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) uplink systems. Simulation results show that the proposed estimator improves the mean square error (MSE) performance compared to conventional estimator [2] where each user have both different timing offset and different frequency offset. In addition, the MSE performance is improved as the length of PN sequence increases.

BER Performance of Cooperative Transmission for the Uplink of TDD-CDMA Systems

  • In time division duplex (TDD) code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, chip-synchronous transmission in the uplink is obtainable, thus leading to free multiple access interference in flat Rayleigh fading channels plus additive white Gaussian noise. This motivates us to develop a novel cooperative transmission strategy that allows single-antenna devices to benefit from spatial diversity using orthogonal signature sequences. The proposed cooperation is applicable to many digital modulation methods and achieves the fullest diversity level, low implementation complexity, and a full data rate. Closed-form bit-error-rate expressions were also derived and compared to simulation results in order to evaluate its validity. A variety of numerical results demonstrated the cooperation's superiority over single transmission under the same transmit power constraint.
