  • Tolerance analysis method for natural frequencies of multi-body systems having a equilibrium position is suggested in this paper. To perform the tolerance analysis, the Monte-Carlo Method is conventionally employed. However, the Monte-Carlo Method has some weakness; spending too much time for analysis and having a low accuracy and hard to converge in the numerical unstable area. To resolve these problems, a tolerance analysis method is suggested in this paper. Sensitivity equations of natural frequencies are derived at the equilibrium position. By employing the sensitivity information of mass, damping and stiffness matrices, the sensitivity of natural frequencies can be calculated.

  • Thirty patients with ischemic heart disease underwent coronary artery bypass grafting [CABG from 1985 through 1994. There were 16 males and 14 females whose age ranged from 41 to 72 years old. Preoperative diagnoses were unstable angina in 13 of patients, stable angina in 8, postmyocardial infarction state in 7, and state of failed percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty [ PTCA in 2. The patterns of disease were single vessel involvement [ 17cases , double vessel involvement [ 7 cases , triple vessel involvement [ 3 cases , Lt main lesion including Lt. ostial lesion [ 3 cases . Saphenous vein grafts were used in 27/30 patients [ 90% , and internal mammary artery grafts were used in 6/30 patients [ 20% . The hospital mortality was 13.3% and all survivors were asymptomatic and improved over their preoperative status.

  • This work presents some analytical and numerical results of a dynamic analysis of the dimensionless 2-D sheet flight equations. Two empirical models for aerodynamic forces and moments are used and compared. Results show that the initial condition of rest is always unstable, and for long times three distinct flight regimes are possible, depending on the initial angle of attack, the Tachikawa number, Ta (in fact, the parameter chosen was its inverse, ${\Omega}$), and a mass ratio ${\Phi}$. The final orbits in the velocity space and their maximum kinetic energy are compared with a theoretical asymptotic state of the motion equations, and some design considerations are proposed.

  • A Microprocessor Based Digital Control System is inherently contained a control lag for processing the control program and a data detection time lag. This two types of time lag may cause the system to become unstable. In this paper proposed predictive state observer is used to solve the two time lag problems. I-P control algorithm is used to attain deadbeat response by adjusting the observer gain to overcome the parameter variation or with disturbance. The speed response shows good performance through computer simulation.

  • In experiment, a real inverted pendulum system has state constraints and limited amplitude of input. These problems make it difficult to design a swing-up controller. To overcome these problems, we design a sliding mode controller considering physical behaviour of the inverted pendulum system. This sliding mode controller uses a switching control action to converge along a specified path derived from energy equation from a state around the path to desired states(standing position). And optimal control method is used to guarantee stability at unstable equilibrium position. The designed controller can be applied to all inverted pendulum systems regardless of the values of their parameters. Compared with previous existing controllers, it is simple and easy to tune. Experimental results are given to show the effectiveness of this controller.

  • The inverted pendulum is a typical example of unstable systems and has been used for verification of designed control systems. It is also very popular in control education in laboratories, serving as a good example to show the utility of the state space approach to the controller design. This paper shows two kinds of experiment using inverted pendulum: one is the stabilization of a single spherical inverted pendulum by a plane manipulator using visual feedback, and the other is the state transfer control of a double pendulum. In the former experiment, the feedback stabilization using a CCD camera has major importance as an example of controller implementation with non-contact measurement. The latter involves the standard stabilizing regulation method and nonlinear control techniques. The details of the experimental systems, the control algorithms and the experimental results will be given.

  • Cable dome is one of tension structure which is gradually stabilized by tensioning tables from initially unstable state to finally stable state. This stabilizing process is not able to be developed by general analysis because some cables endure compression forces during stabilizing process. Thus, this paper uses dynamic relaxation method to solve this problem. To apply this stabilizing process analysis to the actual project, this paper deals with cable dome roof of Seoul Olympic Gymnasium. Finally, this paper prove the usefulness of stabilizing process analysis by comparing the analysis results and the measurements.

  • The compact camera assembled into Smart phone is required to have higher resolution level in non AF state than existing handsets, and it is also requested to have higher degree of accuracy, more consistent repetitiveness, and faster auto focusing speed. Algorithm based on a mechanical position of the existing actuator has been discussed. Therefore, in this thesis I suggest an improved algorithm concerning the problem of unstable resolution level in non AF state and auto focusing speed.

  • A model helicopter has more versatile flight capability than the fixed-wing aircraft and it can be used as an unmaned vehicle in hazardous area. A helicopter, similar to other aircrafts, is an unstable, multi-input multi-output nonlinear system exposed to strong disturbance. So it should be controlled by robust control theories that can be applied to multivariable systems. In this study, motion equations of hovering are established, linearized and transformed into a state equation form. Various parameters are measured and calculated in other to obtain the stability derivatives in the state equation. Hovering flight controller is designed using the digital LQG/LTR(Linear Quadratic Gaussian/Loop Transfer Recovery) control theory. The designed controller is tested by the nonlinear simulations and implemented on an IBM-PC/386. Experiments were carried out on a model helicopter attached to the 3-DOF gimbal. The designed controller showed satisfactory hovering capability to maintain the hovering for more than 40 seconds.

  • Direct drive servovalve(DDV) is a kind of one-stage valve since the rotary motion of DC motor is directly transferred to the linear motion of valve spool through the link. Since the structure of DDV is simple, it is less expensive, more reliable and offers reduced internal leakage and reduced sensitivity to fluid contamination. However, the flow force effect on the spool motion is significant such that it induces large steady-state error in a step response. If the proportional control gain is increased to reduce the steady-state error, the system becomes unstable. In order to satisfy the system design requirements, the classical controller is designed using the analytical Bode method.
