A new course keeping controller for RIB(Rigid Inflatable Boat)-type USV(Unmanned Surface Vehicle) is developed using pilot's steering pattern. A pilot's simple steering pattern is found out from various course change tests. It is used to course keeping algorithm, suitable for large course change more than 60 degrees. To validate the course keeping controller, sea trial tests are conducted. From sea trial test, new course keeping controller shows good performance with less overshoot, maximum roll angle less than $20^{\circ}$, which makes it possible that fast course changes without slip motion of USV.

This study suggests how to build a training environment for the application of reinforcement learning techniques to USV, and Ihow to apply the training result to a real USV. The purpose of RL is to move USV from departure point to destination point autonomously using rudder.

Recently, many unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) have been developed and researched for various fields such as the military, environment, and robotics. In order to perform purpose specific tasks, common autonomous navigation technologies are needed. Obstacle avoidance is important for safe autonomous navigation. This paper describes a vector field histogram+ (VFH+) based obstacle avoidance method that uses the monocular vision of an unmanned surface vehicle. After creating a polar histogram using VFH+, an open space without the histogram is selected in the moving direction. Instead of distance sensor data, monocular vision data are used for make the polar histogram, which includes obstacle information. An object on the water is recognized as an obstacle because this method is for USV. The results of a simulation with sea images showed that we can verify a change in the moving direction according to the position of objects.

Recently, autonomous navigation technology, obstacle recognition, and obstacle collision avoidance technology are actively being developed for an unmanned surface vehicle (USV). The path to move from the current location to the destination should be planned, in order for an USV to autonomously operate safely to its destination. The dynamic window approach (DWA) is a well-known navigation scheme as a local path planning. The DWA algorithm derives the linear velocity and angular velocity by evaluating the destination direction, velocity, and distance from the obstacle. However, because DWA algorithm does not consider tracking the path, when using only the DWA algorithm, the ship may navigate away from the path line after avoiding obstacles. In this paper, we propose an improved DWA algorithm that can follow path line. And we implemented the simulation and compared the existing DWA algorithm with the improved DWA algorithm proposed in this paper. As a result, it is confirmed that the proposed DWA algorithm follows the path line better.
Recently, unmanned systems have been studied and developed in various areas including aircrafts, automobiles and vessels. In addition, many researches about unmanned systems in Korea have been studying actively with the advancement of IT However, it is not satisfied with the result of the researches and developments. Bemuse of the reason we've here tried to make a very small USV which is a barge type. We applied the Great circle navigation calculation based on GPS to the autonomous navigation algorithm and used the LabVIEW 8.2 developed by NI corp. for programming The engine and rudder were controlled by pulse width modulation method. The engine system was composed of the DC motor and ESC(Electronic Speed Controller). It was also applied by the direct cooling system using DC motor pump. A very small USV was designed and made by ourself and it was verified the effectiveness of autonomous navigation algorithm through the tests at the sea.

In order to successfully detect and identify underwater targets located on the seabed, unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) typically acquire acoustic signals with a side-scan sonar device and reconstruct information about the target from the processed images. As the quality of the side-scan sonar images acquired by USVs depends on the environment and operating parameters, using modeling and simulation techniques to design side-scan sonar devices can help optimize the reconstruction of the sonar images. In this work, we study a side-scan sonar design for use in USVs, that takes the movement of the platform into account. First, we constructed a simulated seabed environment with underwater targets, and specified the maneuvering conditions and sonar systems. We then generated the acoustic signals from the simulated environment using the sonar equation. Finally, we successfully imaged the simulated seabed environment using simple signal processing. Our results can be used to derive USV side-scan sonar design parameters, predict the resulting sonar images in various conditions, and as a basis for determining the optimal sonar parameters of the system.

Despite the recent short history of drones, the applying field of drones has been used for various purposes in a wide variety of areas and fields. As such, with the emergence of various types of drones over the years, in a broad sense, a remote controlled mobile object that can be controlled by wired and wireless control may be a suitable definition for drone because of various types of drones in recent years. This paper aims to help readers who want to research, develop, and use drones by examining the history, application fields, and future prospects of drones, including Unmanned Surface Vehicle(USV) and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles(UUV), as well as aerial type drones. Through this paper, it is expected that these drones will continue to be used in various fields in the future, and the prospect of future development will continue constantly. However, for the development of domestic drone technology and industry, the government's improvement in drone-related regulations should be supported.

In this paper, we analyzed the communication distances in the flat and spherical earth model using the main specifications of the wireless communication device under development to be installed in the unmanned surface vehicle(USV). We installed the wireless communication device on the test ship and the actual communication test was performed in the South Sea of Korea, it compared the experimental result with the simulated results. If the installation altitude of the transmitting and receiving antennas is low, there is not the big difference between the two models. However, when the altitude of one of the two antennas is high, the spherical earth model has similar results to the experimental data. As the altitude of the antenna installation increases, fading occurs in a certain section. We expect that this fading can be overcome through antenna technologies such as space diversity.
In this paper, the combat effectiveness of ship guidance rockets to counter the threat of multiple USV(Unmanned Surface Vehicle) was analyzed in three cases. The probability of sinking a number of USVs approaching by distance was compared using various weapon systems and guided rocket systems installed on the naval vessels. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the combat effectiveness of the guided rocket was improved compared to the close defense system of the anti-ship missile installed on the naval vessels.
