  • This paper describes a method of lane tracking by means of a vision system which includes vehicle control and modeling. Lane tracking is considered one of the important technologies in an unmanned vehicle and mobile robot system. The current position and condition of the vehicle are calculated from an image processing method by a CCD camera. We deal with lane tracking as follows. First, vehicle control is included in the road model, and lateral and longitudinal controls. Second, the image processing method deals with the lane detection method, image processing algerian, and filtering method. Finally, this paper proposes a correct method for lane detection through a vehicle test by wireless data communication.

  • Since the world has changed to a society of 21st century high-tech industries, the modern people have become reluctant to work in a difficult and dirty environment. Therefore, unmanned technologies through robots are being demanded. Now days, effects such as voice, control, obstacle avoidance are being suggested, and especially, voice recognition technique that enables convenient interaction between human and machines is very important. In this study, in order to conduct study on the stable motion control of the robot system that has mobile-manipulator structure and is voice command-based, kinetic interpretation and dynamic modeling of two-armed manipulator and three-wheel mobile robot were conducted. In addition, autonomous driving of three-wheel mobile robot and motion control system of two-armed manipulator were designed, and combined robot control through voice command was conducted. For the performance experiment method, driving control and simulation mock experiment of manipulator that has two-armed structure was conducted, and for experiment of combined robot motion control which is voice command-based, through driving control, motion control of two-armed manipulator, and combined control based on voice command, experiment on stable motion control of voice command-based robot system that has mobile-manipulator structure was verified.

  • Nowadays, with progresses in robotic science, the design and implementation of a mechanism for human-robot interaction with a low workload is inevitable. One notable challenge in this field is the interaction between a single human and a group of robots. Therefore, we propose a new comprehensive framework for single-human multiple-robot remote interaction that can form an efficient intelligent adaptive interaction (IAI). Our interaction system can thoroughly adapt itself to changes in interaction context and user states. Some advantages of our devised IAI framework are lower workload, higher level of situation awareness, and efficient interaction. In this paper, we introduce a new IAI architecture as our comprehensive mechanism. In order to practically examine the architecture, we implemented our proposed IAI to control a group of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) under different scenarios. The results show that our devised IAI framework can effectively reduce human workload and the level of situation awareness, and concurrently foster the mission completion percentage of the UAVs.

  • Future Combat System(FCS), such as unmanned systems that reduce the danger faced by soldiers in the field, are likely to be studied and developed. Soldiers when finding and disposing of mines risk injury and death. Several methods of safe mine retrieval are investigated. In this paper, a mine removal method, which uses a remote controlled robot to get rid of mines using a 4 channel architecture teleoperation method is used. The robot, when in contact with soil and mines, is controlled by a remote control. The feasibility of using teleoperation controlled system to remove mines is demonstrated in this paper. The Matlab-Simulink was used as a tool to simulate mine removal with robots. The force and position of the robot{slave system of 4 channel architecture) and controller(master system of 4 channel architecture) are analyzed when users handle the controller with sinusoidal force.

  • In this paper, the tracking control of an automatic pipe cutting robot, called APCROM, with a magnetic binder is studied. Using magnetic force APCROM, a wheeled robot, binds itself to the pipe and executes unmanned cutting process. The gravity effect on the movement of APCROM varies as it rotates around the pipe laid in the gravitational field. In addition to the varying gravity effect other types of nonlinear disturbances including backlash in the driving system and the slip between the wheels of APCROM and the pipe also cause degradation in the cutting process. To maintain a constant velocity and consistent cutting performance, the authors adopt a repetitive learning controller (MRLC), which learns the required effort to cancel the tracking errors. An angular-position estimation method based on the MEMS-type accelerometer is also used in conjunction with MRLC to compensate the tracking error caused by slip at the wheels. Experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

  • This study proposes a efficient technology to control the optimal trajectory planning and real-time implementation method which can perform autonomous travelling for unmaned factory automation. Online path planning should plan and execute alternately in a short time, and hence it enables the robot avoid unknown dynamic obstacles which suddenly appear on robot's path. Based on Route planning and control algorithm, we suggested representation of edge cost, heuristic function, and priority queue management, to make a modified Route planning algorithm. Performance of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulation test.

  • In this paper, we proposed a hybrid type robot that simultaneously surveillance and reconnaissance on the ground and in the air. It was possible to expand the surveillance and reconnaissance range by expanding the surveillance and reconnaissance area of the ground robot and quickly moving to the hidden area through the drone. First, ground robots go to mission areas through drones and perform surveillance and reconnaissance missions for urban warfare or mountainous areas. Second, drones move ground robots quickly. It transmits surveillance and reconnaissance images of ground robots to the control system and performs reconnaissance missions at the same time. Finally, in order to secure the interoperability of these hybrid robots, basic performance and environmental performance were verified. The evaluation method was tested and verified based on the KS standards.

  • An effective die-polishing robot system is developed. ATC (Automatic Tool Change), tool posture angle control, and robot program for polishing application are developed and integrated into a robotic system that consists of a robot, pneumatic grinding tool, and grinding abrasives (papers and special films). ATC is specifically designed to exchange whole grinding tool set for complete unmanned operation. A tool posture angle control system is developed for the tools to maintain a specified skew angle rather than right angle on the surface for best finishing results. A PC and the robot controller control ATC and tool posture angle. Also, there have been more considerations on enhancing the performance of the system. Elastic material is inserted between the grinding pad and the holder for better grinding contact. Robot path data are generated automatically from the NC data of previous machining process.

  • Recently, lots of interest and competition in developments related to the autonomous-vehicle robot are being further increased. However, the absence of the standard architectures for effectively controlling the autonomous-vehicle robot led to many difficulties such as the long duration of development and the uncompatibility with other autonomous-vehicle robots. Accordingly, we implemented a mobile autonomous-vehicle robot system based on JAUS standard architecture. The mobile robot communicates with the remote-control system by using wireless LAN UDP/IP JAUS command massages. Its effectiveness is showed through the experimental results related to the navigation of implemented robot.

  • Recently, the study on small-sized reconnaissance robot has been progressed through grafting robot technology to military fields for minimizing the casualties. Especially, throwable robots have been focusing for their's efficiency in anti-terror operation. However, it is impossible to launch throwable robot to long range(approximately 100m) by hand. So we need another type of robots, so called launchable robots, which can launch farther and is more accurate by launcher. In this paper, we presented the process of developments of launchable robots('launchbot') which are available for remote launch from collection of user's opinions to field test. Based on the opinions of users, we established the goal of development, designed and manufactured the robots. Through the field test, we found that our launchable robot satisfied the performance requirements.
