  • This paper describes the resource assessment of theoretical potential of ocean energy including tidal current energy, tidal range energy, wave energy and ocean thermal energy in Korea to provide reliable basis for feasible development plan of ocean energy. Because of different characteristics of each ocean energy resources, the resource assessment methods were established considering characteristics of each ocean energy resources. The coastal region of Korea has been divided into 10 regions. The results show that tidal current energy is abundant in Incheon-Gyunggi and Jeollanam-do and tidal range energy is abundant in Incheon-Gyunggi. And wave energy is abundant in Jeollanam-do, Jeju and Gyeongsangbuk-do and there is ocean thermal energy in Gangwon-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do.

  • Many countries are faced with problems of energy demand and environmentally. Renewable energy is the interesting solution to deal this problems. In Korea, it is planed to apply the renewable energy to 5% of total energy demand by 2011. For this, the government has supported by various promotion program of renewable energy Policy Consideration of renewable energy system is essential for sustainable urban regeneration. Renewable energy application will be possible to make friendly environmental and sustainable city and deal with the energy and environment problem. This study will provide fundamental data to applying renewable energy systems for urban generation. There are evaluated for economic feasibility of renewable energy systems and analyzed application of them by building type as a urban energy source.

  • This paper presents the necessary elements and data flow in developing a monitoring system of energy usage for apartment houses with a Smart TV. Energy consumption data in each home are collected and analyzed in the HUB station by way of measuring instruments. And the amount of energy usage, such as electricity, gas, hot water, heating, water and other utilities are displayed through the Smart TV application. Energy consumption Database in the HUB station are processed and displayed in the browser of a Smart TV through XML, JAVASCRIPT and Flash. Smart TV users can get the energy consumption status through the energy consumption analysis display of the Smart TV application and improve the energy efficiency by comparing the usage patterns with neighboring houses. And the application display energy usage information, consumption ranking, rates to user as well. Furthermore, usage of last month or year can be compared to help to reduce the energy usage. The proposed system can provide the information about the amount of energy use to be reduced and the warning on the waste of energy.

  • The hybrid wind-solar energy concept has a big influence on the spread of wind and solar power projects in India since it combines the benefits of both industries while also providing extra benefits such as resource sharing such as land, infrastructure, and power evacuation systems. Furthermore, while the hybrid policy may reduce certain barriers to the installation of wind and solar energy in India, there are still some issues that must be resolved rapidly in order to ensure a sustainable installation. According to the study's findings, the installation of wind and solar power plants is significantly influenced by energy policy. The wind-solar hybrid energy strategy will also be crucial in the near future for growing the usage of renewable energy sources. Aside from that, the establishment of Green Energy Open Access (GEOA) and the restart of the trading of Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) would promote the quick deployment of standalone and hybrid renewable power projects throughout the nation, enabling it to reach 500 GW of installed non-fossil energy capacity by 2030.

  • The present society have been polluted the earth environment by the rapid industrial growth. So, the meaning of sustainable development is doing more important. Therefore the technology skills of sustainable architecture techniques have been studied many-side of energy as like energy saving and substitutive energy. But, See the studies until now, there have been just one system either energy saving or substitutive energy. So, the paper studies about energy saving system with substitutive energy system(the double-skin facade system with PV modules) and presents the performance of system through the analysis of reduction of the energy load, the solar radiation on the slope angle of PV module, the blind effect in system.

  • The large amount of energy required for successful crop production is the main challenge in greenhouse cropping systems. As a response to this challenge a comprehensive evaluation of greenhouse energy consumption was carried out in two structurally similar single-span greenhouses with different thermal curtain positions, with particular attention to energy productivity, specific energy, net energy, and energy ratio. The greenhouses are used for strawberry production. In the R-greenhouse (RGH), the thermal curtain hanged directly at the roof ridge, whereas in the Q-greenhouse (QGH), the thermal curtain was placed 5° from an imaginary vertical axis, from the middle of the roof ridge downwards to the north side of the greenhouse roof. The relevant data were recorded using standard methods. The results indicated that the energy expended in the RGH and QGH systems was 2,186.48 and 2,189.26 MJ/m2, respectively. Electricity and nitrogen fertilizer contributed the highest energy input in both greenhouses and in all seasons. The output energy was 3.12 and 3.82 MJ/m2, respectively, in RGH and QGH in season I and 4.40 and 4.87 MJ/m2 in season II. In terms of energy expended, there was no significant difference between the two greenhouses, nor between the two seasons. These results indicate that greenhouses of the size used in this investigation are not viable in terms of energy productivity, energy-use efficiency, and subsequent economic performance. However, further studies should be conducted to scale-up the information obtained from this investigation.

  • It is important to improve the energy performance in the industrial sector, and therefore most of the manufacturing companies need the energy performance indicators to identify the target and to verify the energy savings. However, the conventional energy performance indicators such as the total energy consumption and the energy intensity are not proper to use. The reason is that they do not consider adequate relevant variables including productions in the boundary of the manufacturing companies. Therefore, the study provides the advanced energy performance indicator using by the linear regression model according to each energy source to manage the target and to verify the energy performance properly.
