This study was carried out to develop the educational program which can be used in the university library or archives to their students under an aspect that each individual should preserve own personal archives themselves. Based on precedent studies and foreign cases, a survey study on preservation of digital personal archives for the university students was carried out. The educational program of preservation reflected conditions of the undergraduates attending Pusan national university. The educational program is dealt with a total of seven contents including awareness-raising, creation methods, managements methods, selection of archives, construction of preservation folder, construction of preservation copy, and the management of preservation copy.

The purpose of this study is to select and apply description elements for the integrated search of archival objects in university archives. For this purpose, the act of public archives management and the research literature were reviewed, and a survey was conducted on related institutions. Moreover, this paper made a comparison by using the archival description of ISAD(G), DACS, RDA, and CCO and referred to the descriptions that are being used at university archives. Based on these analyses, we suggested the description elements for the integrated search of archival objects in university archives and presented the practical application method for it.

This study is for why Korean private universities make high position and performance on their archives. It's needless to say that archives of university is desperate for democratic management, historic and cultural identity and administrative efficiency. As for archives of private university, it has to be set by its own organization as the name of '00 university archives' if possible. At the same time both 'administrative structure' and 'working-level structure' should be activated for the better output. It might be helpful to empower itself. Archives of private university have to fulfill these basic role; aquisition, arrangement, classification, preservation etc./service/study of archival science /university history compiling. It could be expand to the link between university and local community, open class and digital archive service.

Recently, the website of university archives is becoming greatly significant to users who retrieve and utilize university archives and records. This study aims to meta-analyze university archives in Korea in terms of usefulness, usability, information quality, and web accessibility in order to improve the functionality and usefulness of university archives websites. The result of the study suggests that university archives should increase the number of the digital records and to develop communication chanels, such as blog, chatting room, digital reference services for activating use of university records. Secondly, university archives make efforts to develop systematic collecting and managing procedures and to build relevant digital collections. Thirdly, the websites of university archives develops more user-friendly interfaces and web design to improve user satisfaction. Finally, the websties of university archives should follow the standards on web accessibility.

In comparison with conventional types of documents, photographs present special problems in the management of any archives because of their physical properties and the nature and format of their informational content This paper is case study for the effective photographs management at the university archives. At first, sort out photographic images in the university publications, draw up work sheet by the bibliographic information of the photographic images and construct a bibliographic database based on the work sheet. Secondly, the photographic images is linked with bibliographic database. In result, users can confirm immediately photographic images on the screen by searching OPAC. This paper concludes with a problem and improvement of the photograph database at the university archives.

Government archives are basic source materials in the historical study. Whereas, researches on the archives of Choson-chongdokbu have been very scant. Those archives contain information about both colonism of Japan and independent movement of Korea are comparatively well preserved at Government Archives and Record Services. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the characteristic of archives and to evaluate the system of archival management of Choson-chongdokbu. Based on the official gazette and archives of Choson-chongdokbu, this study has revealed the division of archival work, the writing and treatment of official document, compilation and preservation, and the procedure of use and destruction. As a result of the research, the followings have been identified; 1. Archival regulations were prepared by the instructions of Choson­chongdokbu at the early days of its establishment. Inspite of several revisions, its basis was maintained until 1945. 2. Each agency had its own archival department instead of central archives. 3. The archival department of Choson-chongdokbu controlled the archival administration of headquarters and attached agencies. But the secret archives were managed by the secretarial department. 4. The writing and treatment of archives were done by the archival regulation made in 1911. 5. Each agency had set more or less different preservation period. 6. There were three ways of using archives, 1) the in-house reading 2) the loan 3) the transcriptions. The archives passed the preservation period were destroyed in accordance with the related departments.

The purpose of this study is to improve the level of records management by enhancing the risk management in university archives. Through surveys and post-interviews, the current status of risk management in university archives was investigated, the results of the investigation were analyzed to identify problems and limitations in risk management in university archives, and the following suggestions for improvements were made. First, the legal effects of risk management should be strengthened in the Public Records Management Act, and matters related to risk management should be stipulated. Second, the National Archives of Korea should actively intervene to identify problems in risk management in university archives and provide appropriate support for problem-solving. Third, the identity of university archives as independent organizations should be secured for the implementation of professional and active records management tasks. Fourth, standards and manuals reflecting risk management practices for university archives should be prepared. Fifth, a sufficient budget must be secured to meet all necessary requirements for risk management. Lastly, cooperation in the performance of records management and risk management tasks should be achieved by raising awareness of university archives and their records management tasks among the heads of the institutions and members of the organizations.
