The calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor is a rare benign odontogenic neoplasm which was first described by Pindborg in 1955 and accounts for less than 1% of all odontogenic tumors. The tumor occurs primarily in the molar-premolar region of the mandible, and 52% of cases are associated with an unerupted tooth. The clinical feature is most commonly a slow-growing painless swelling. The tumor may show considerable radiographic variation and usually characteristic histopathologic features. In this study, we report a case of the calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor on the left mandibular body and ramus area in a 28-year-old male with a brief review of the concerned literatures.

Autotransplantation is the transplantation of embeded, impacted, or unerupted tooth, into extraction socket or surgically prepared socket in the same individual. Clinically, successful autotransplantation must show radiolucent space(periodontal ligament space) between transplanted tooth and supporting bone, lamina dura, no root resorption, no ankylosis, no inflammatory change, and physiologic tooth mobility. It is important that procedure is atraumatic, and the instruments should not contact the root surface during procedure. We performed autotransplantation of impacted mandibular canine that transversely located beneath the apices of the mandibular incisors with uncompletely developed apex. In radiographs and clinical evaluation, this transplant showed successful clinical finding except irregularity of mesial root surface after 14 months. It is conclued that transplantation of canine with $\frac{1}{2}{\sim}\frac{3}{4}$ root development provides a good chance of pulp survival, limited risk of root resorption and ensures sufficient final length, and is thus recommended.

Impacted or unerupted permanent teeth have many problems in making a diagnosis and treatment plan in dental clinic. There are several methods to treat impacted teeth. The combination of surgical exposure and orthodontic traction is usually the treatment of choice in cases with impacted teeth. Two cases are reported, which were treated with surgical intervention and orthodontic movement. and one case is treated with orthodontic movement alone. To improve esthetic problem and maintain periodontal health, We should avoid loss of attached gingiva in surgical exposure, and excessive orthodontic force during the traction of the impacted tooth.
Adenomatoid odontogenic tumor (AOT) is a tumor of odontogenic epithelium with varying degrees of inductive changes in the connective tissue. The common radiographic appearance of AOT is a unilocular radiolucency associated with an unerupted tooth. Detectable radiopacities have been reported in many cases. We present a case of AOT in a 9-year old-female patient. Cystic lesion with numerous, punctuate radiopaque foci was observed on the anterior region of the mandible. These radiopacities were situated mostly on the buccal side of impacted tooth on the multi-planar images of cone beam computed tomograph. Characteristic duct like structures and amyloid like material were observed on histopathologic finding. (Korean J Oral Maxillofac Radiol2009; 39 : 99-102)

Cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD), which is accepted as an autosomal disorder, is a generalized disorder of bone with severe dental abnormalities. Among the most characteristic anomalies seen are hypoplasia of clavicles or aplasia of clavicles, permanant non-ossification of cranial sutures & fontanels, delayed eruption of the permanant dentition & the presence of unerupted supernumerary teeth. CCD may first be noted by dentist because of many dental problems, so we should diagnose the disorder earlier & understand the development of dentition in CCD to ensure timely intervention with proper periodic dental X-ray.

The purpose of this study was to measure the average tooth size of Korean with normal occlusion. According to the study, the average tooth ratios between the upper and lower teeth which could assure the proper ovebite, overjet and good interdigitation were calculated. The normal occluson sample of this study consisted of 43 Korean male adults and 51 Korean female adults. Among them, 22 Korean male adults and 51 Korean female adults were from KAO(Korean Association of Orthodontists), 21 Korean male adults were from Department of Orthodontics, College of Dentistry, Yonsei University. The results from this study were as follows : 1 The average tooth size of Korean Norm classified by male and female was measured. 2. The average tooth size of Korean male adults with normal occlusion was significantly larger than that of Korean female adults except upper and lower first molars. (p<0.05) 3. The tooth ratio which could Predict the proper overbite and overjet in anterior teeth and proper occlusion in posterior teeth was calculated. 1) Sum of inciosrs = 4:2.97 2) Neff's anterior coefficient = 1.22 3) Bolton's anterior ratio = 78.29%, overall ratio = 91.14% 4. A positive correlation was observed between the sum of lower anterior incisors and the sum of unilateral canine and premolars In each jaw. Based this correlation, the regression equation was made which could Predict the sum of unerupted unilateral canine and premolars in mired dentition. 1) Sum of unilateral unerupted upper canine and premolars' width = 10.435018 + 0.513346 ${\times}$ (sum or lower 4 incisors' width) 2) Sum of unilateral unerupted lower canine and premolars' width = 9.654002 + 0.502565 ${\times}$ (sum of lower 4 incisors' width)

Maxillary canine impaction is a frequently encountered clinical problem, and it may cause the resorption of adjacent tooth or cystic change. Treatment plan for maxillary canine impaction should be decided among extraction, orthodontic traction and autotransplantation according to several factors such as direction and position of unerupted tooth, degree of developing root apex, eruption space, exsitance of supernumerary tooth, odontoma, or cyst. Autotransplantation is a valuable alternative to extraction of impacted teeth, where surgical exposure and subsequent orthodontic realignment are difficult or impossible due to unfavorable impaction position. And its prognosis is dependent on a number of factors such as preservation of periodontal ligament, degree of root development, surgical technique, patient's age, endodontic treatment, time and type of splinting and storage medium, etc. The patients in these cases visited our dental clinic in the late permanent dentition with the chief complaint of unerupted maxillary canines. And it was thought that the spontaneous eruption guidance or orthodontic traction and alignment were difficult because of its unfavorable impacted position. Therefore, autotransplantaion and endodontic treatment were done and have been checked periodically until now.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the cause of eruption disturbance in the maxillary central incisor and establish the effective treatment plan by analyzing the vertical distance, angulation of long axis and root development of the tooth with eruption disturbance using the cone-beam CT. The average age of 134 patients diagnosed with unilaterally impacted maxillary central incisor was 7.9 years old and the male was 2.1 times higher than the female. The most common cause of eruption disorder was physical obstruction, especially mesiodens and odontoma. Of the teeth with unilateral eruption disorder, 78 cases erupted spontaneously and 56 cases erupted non-spontaneously after removal of physical obstruction. The possibility of spontaneous or non-spontaneous eruption in the unilaterally impacted maxillary central incisor depended on several factors, such as vertical distance, angulation of long axis and root development of unerupted tooth. The spontaneous eruption of the impacted maxillary cental incisor was most frequent at the angulation of long axis of 50 to 90 degrees, which is similar to the angulation of long axis of the normally erupted maxillary central incisor. In addition, the spontaneous eruption period of impacted maxillary central incisor was more influenced by the vertical distance than the angulation of long axis and the root development. Most of the teeth that showed non-spontaneous eruption had orthodontic traction, and these teeth were usually erupted within about 12 months. The period treated with orthodontic traction was no statistical significance with the vertical distance, the angulation of long axis, and the root development. This study will provide information on the cause of unilaterally impacted maxillary cental incisor and help to establish the future treatment plan.

The prevalence of supernumerary teeth is between $1{\sim}3%$. Of these, $90{\sim}98%$ occur in the maxilla with particular predilection for the premaxilla, preceded by mandibular third premolars, mandibular forth molars and maxillary paramolars. The most common ones occur in the maxillary anterior region, they may occur singly between the central incisors(mesiodens), or they may be double(mesiodentes). Maxillary anterior supernumeraries may erupt into the oral cavity or remain unerupted. It is found that approximately 25% are erupted, while the rest are unerupted. They are usually a small tooth with a cone-shaped crown and a short root. They may cause delayed eruption, median diastema, bodily displacement or rotation of the adjacent permanent teeth. Occasionally they may lead to the developement of dentigerous cyst or primordial cyst, or eruption into nasal cavity. In this study, 109 supernumeraries surgically extracted from premaxilla in 84 patients are analysed. The results are as follows : 1. Sex distribution of male and female is 2.2 : 1. 2. Almost cases are in pediatric age from 5 to 12 years old (87%). 3. Problems with supernumeraries are tooth malpositon, diastema, delayed eruption, eruption to nasal cavity and cyst formation. 4. Of 109 supernumeraries, 16(15%) are erupted into oral cavity, 92(84%) are impacted, and 1(1%) is erupted into nasal cavity. 5. Of 84 patients, 59(70%) have one supernumeray while 25(30%) have two supernumeraries. 6. Of 109 supernumeraries, 96(88%) are found within the region of the central incisors. 7. Of 109 supernumeraries, 94(86%) are vertically impacted, 11(10%) are horizontally impacted, 3(3%) are labiopalatally impacted and 1(1%) is impacted in nasal cavity. 8. Of 84 patients, we used palatal flap in 67(80%), labial flap in 6(7%), both flaps in 4(5%) and no flap in 7(8%). And incisive nerve was cut in 33(49%) of 67 palatal flaps. 9. Extration with ostectomy was done in 72 supernumeraries(66%), without ostectomy in 37 teeth(34%). 10. Extraction with tooth sectioning was done in 21 supernumeraries(19%), without tooth sectioning was done in 88 teeth(81%). 11. We used local anesthesia in 70 patients(83%) and general anesthesia in 14 ones(17%).

Tooth impaction refers to situations in which the eruption is inhibited by some physical barriers in eruptive path and the tooth remains unerupted beyond the normal time of eruption. The etiology of impacted tooth is controversial, but ankylosis has been suggested probably as a leading role. Impacted primary molars may cause several problems such as space loss, tipping of adjacent teeth, supra-eruption of the antagonists, dislocation of succeeding premolar, cystic change and infection. As one of conventional treatments of impacted primary molars, early tooth extraction or surgical extraction following space regaining when there is space loss has been suggested. However, when they are in normal formation and not ankylosed, orthodontic traction following surgical exposure can be the choice of treatment. In this case, a 3-year-old boy was referred to the department of pediatric dentistry for the unerupted mandibular right second primary molar. After surgical removal of gingiva on the occlusal surface, orthodontic traction was performed. After treatment, we could get normal alignment of primary teeth and the opportunity for normal development of permanent teeth.
