In this paper, we investigate the comparative performance of two leading object detection architectures, YOLOv7 and Detection Transformer (DETR), across varying levels of data augmentation using CycleGAN. Our experiments focus on chest scan images within the context of biomedical informatics, specifically targeting the detection of abnormalities. The study reveals that YOLOv7 consistently outperforms DETR across all levels of augmented data, maintaining better performance even with 75% augmented data. Additionally, YOLOv7 demonstrates significantly faster convergence, requiring approximately 30 epochs compared to DETR's 300 epochs. These findings underscore the superiority of YOLOv7 for object detection tasks, especially in scenarios with limited data and when rapid convergence is essential. Our results provide valuable insights for researchers and practitioners in the field of computer vision, highlighting the effectiveness of YOLOv7 and the importance of data augmentation in improving model performance and efficiency.

This study investigates the impact of mega-influencers and micro-influencers on consumer trust, brand attitude, and purchase intention within the beauty industry. Methods: A survey of 160 adults was conducted in March 2024, analyzing responses to the influence of a beauty mega-influencer ("Isa Bae") and a micro-influencer ("Day Beauty"). Participants were surveyed online over two weeks, and the data were analyzed using statistical tools to compare the influence of both types of influencers. Results: The results indicated that mega-influencers had a more substantial effect on reliability and brand attitude compared to micro-influencers, although both types of influencers significantly influenced purchase intentions. Influencer attractiveness and expertise emerged as critical factors in shaping consumer perceptions and behaviors. Conclusion: This study provides insights into optimizing influencer marketing strategies by leveraging the distinct characteristics and scales of influencers to enhance consumer engagement and brand loyalty. The findings underscore the importance of choosing the appropriate influencer type to maximize marketing effectiveness and consumer trust in the digital marketing landscape.
This review examines the pivotal clinical trials that evaluated the efficacy and safety of semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, in the management of obesity. The reported findings underscore significant and sustained weight loss achieved with semaglutide in diverse patient groups, although gastrointestinal disorders occurred frequently, leading to therapy discontinuation. Overall, the studies demonstrated the potential of semaglutide as a therapeutic option not only for type 2 diabetes but also for obesity. The treatment landscape in obesity is evolving, as reflected in changing regulatory approvals and clinical guidelines, suggesting a paradigm shift toward personalized approaches in this chronic disease states to achieve optimal treatment outcomes for patients.
Purpose: To measure the level of reflection, this study analyzes diaries written by third-year nursing students before and after the debriefing stage in simulation training. A qualitative study using diary entries from 15 nursing students to explore reflection depth. Methods: Students engaged in simulation training and the debriefing stage, documenting their reflections in diaries. Before and after debriefing, reflections were rated from Level 1 (reflectivity) to Level 7 (theoretical reflectivity). Results: The total number of reflection levels rose significantly from 545 to 829 post-debriefing, enhancing higher-order reflection. The shift signifies a move from superficial to deep reflection, highlighting debriefing's role in fostering critical thinking. Conclusion: The findings underscore the critical role of debriefing in enhancing reflective thinking in nursing education. There is a demonstrated need for further research into the specific elements of debriefing that are most effective at promoting deep reflection. Future studies should conduct comparative analyses of different debriefing methods and approaches across various educational settings. This research could lay the foundation for designing more effective debriefing strategies that foster critical thinking and improve learning outcomes in nursing education.
This paper presents a geomechanical framework for designing and optimizing layout patterns of cutterheads for rock Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), aiming to enhance their engineering performance. By examining the forces and moments exerted by rock, the study addresses geometric constraints associated with cutter boxes in key regions of the cutterhead, including the center, face, and gage areas, as well as the three-dimensional effects of cutterhead curvature on the geometric constraints of the back of the cutter boxes in the gage area. Novel formulas are proposed for determining the center points of cutter boxes and calculating both the minimum angular spacing and distance spacing between consecutive cutter boxes along a spiral path. The paper outlines an optimized layout design process for four cutterhead configurations: random, random paired, radial, and double spiral designs. Examples are provided to illustrate the results of applying these designs. The findings underscore the efficacy of the proposed methods in achieving a uniform and symmetrical distribution of cutters and buckets on the cutterhead surface. This approach effectively eliminates boundary overlap and minimizes unbalanced forces and moments. From a geomechanical standpoint, this framework offers a robust strategy for enhancing the performance and reliability of TBM cutterheads in rock tunneling operations.
Purpose: This study explores how supplier and customer integration impact a firm's disruption absorption capability, with a focus on IT alignment moderation. Methods: We conducted surveys with 296 Chinese manufacturers and utilized hierarchical regression for analysis. Results: : Our results reveal a positive correlation between supplier/customer integration and disruption absorption capability. Additionally, positive IT alignment bolsters the relationship between supplier integration and disruption absorption capability, while it doesn't affect the link between customer integration and disruption absorption capability. Conclusion: These findings underscore the significance of integration and IT alignment for enhancing a firm's disruption absorption capability, providing crucial insights for supply chain management practitioners.

By providing actionable insights, this research empowers policymakers and destination managers to enhance destination resilience and competitiveness through ICT-driven governance strategies.
The conventional framework of welfare politics, based on class concepts, tends to fail in explaining the recent social changes. Theoretical response from the social science diverges into two blocs. One is the postmodernist approach that denies possibility of structural cleavage; the other is the alternative trial that seeks to find various kinds of cleavages. The former approach is to be rejected because there is few empirical supports for it. The latter is too sparse to be applied to the studies of welfare politics that requires a comprehensive analysis. This study starts from critical investigation of such approaches, aiming at providing a theoretical framework that combines merits of existing studies on welfare politics. The theoretical framework of three statuses of welfare rights and duties, which is to be presented as an alternative to the conventional class counterpart, does not only underscore the expansion of welfare rights but also the burden of welfare duties. Hence, it can comprehensively subsume complex existence of interest cleavages of welfare politics. To make a long story short, individual interest, related to the welfare state, will effect individual attitudes toward the welfare state and their ways of political support.
Over the past decade, clubroot has emerged as a major constraint to canola (Brassica napus) production in central Alberta, Canada. The number of fields with confirmed P. brassicae infestations in Alberta has increased steadily from 12 in 2003 to nearly 2,000 in 2014. Management of clubroot on canola has focused on sanitization of field equipment, soil amendments to reduce viable pathogen populations, long rotations out of susceptible crops and cropping of resistant cultivars. Clubroot resistance is the most effective and economical method of disease mitigation, but the recent identification of isolated P. brassicae populations with novel virulence phenotypes capable of overcoming resistance in most canola cultivars highlights the variable nature and adaptability of the pathogen. Recent studies have shown slight reductions in pathogen populations through crop rotations, but much more substantial reductions in spore populations in heavily infested areas near field entrances using fumigants such as Vapam (metam-sodium) or Basamid (dazomet). Greenhouse trials showed that seedling emergence, plant height and root weight increased, while primary and secondary infection and disease severity decreased with increased Basamid dosage. However, field trials showed some phytotoxicity. Application of Vapam at rates of 0.4 to $1.6mL\;L^{-1}$ soil resulted in 12-16 fold reductions in clubroot severity and primary and secondary infection. Vapam also was effective in reducing clubroot severity and improving canola seed yield under field conditions. These studies underscore the need for good resistance stewardship and for the integration of multiple products and practices for successful management of clubroot on canola.
Teacher written feedback on student compositions has received tremendous attention in second language (L2) writing research. Notwithstanding the importance of understanding both teachers' and students' perspectives on the feedback process, much of the feedback research has only looked into one-side of the story - adopting either the teacher's or the student's perspective. The current study is an attempt to look into both sides of the story by examining the types of written feedback that students prefer, the extent to which students' preferences and teachers' actual feedback practice overlap, and the extent to which student perceptions of teacher feedback coordinate teacher self-reflections on their feedback practice. Three English composition classes (3 teachers and 46 students) at a university participated in this study. It analyzed student and teacher data from questionnaires and teacher written feedback on student compositions. The results showed that students' preference for feedback on global and local issues varied across the three composition classes. This is partly a consequence of how students perceived the type of feedback that their teachers practiced. Teacher self-reflection on and student perception of teacher written-feedback generally coordinated. These findings are discussed in light of how contextual factors affect learner perception of teacher written feedback and underscore the need for examining students' reactions to feedback and teacher self-reflection.
