  • The purpose of this study investigated underground oil storage(USTs) and Landfill using the envi-cone penetrometer system. The electrical resistivity sensor, pH sensor, ORP sensor, and thermometer are installed in envi-cone penetrometer system. This envi-cone penetrometer system provides a continuous profile of measurements, and it is rapid, repeatable, reliable and cost effective for investigation of contaminated ground.

  • In recent years there has been a steady increase in geoenvironmental engineering projects where geotechnical engineering has been combined with environmental concerns. Many of these projects involve some investigation of contaminant in the ground. There are many techniques such as geophysical, drilling, sampling, md pushing techniques for investigation of contaminated ground. The most rapidly developing site characterization techniques for geoenvironmental purposes involve direct push technology, that is, penetration tests. The purpose of this study investigated underground oil storage tanks(USTs) using the envi-cone penetrometer system. The electrical resistivity sensor, pH sensor, ORP sensor, and thermometer are installed in envi-cone penetrometer system. This envi-cone penetrometer system provides a continuous profile of measurements, and it is rapid, repeatable, reliable and cost effective for investigation of contaminated ground surrounding the underground oil storage tanks.

오일의 누출이 토양오염, 식생 및 지하수에 주는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of. Oil Leakage for Soil Contamination, Plants and Groundwater)

  • Our experiment investigated the degree of soil contaimination caused by oil leakage. Each soil sample was taken by boring 5, 8m below the test areas, located 5 to 30m from storage tanks at oil stations. According to the results from a series of laboratory tests(both soxhiet extract test and gas chromatograph test), Traces of a light oil were found in all samples except in Dj8, rocky soil and gasoline and petroleum were not detected. We concluded that soil contamination was caused by the corrosion of storage tanks or alternatively by oil overflow caused during the flooding of underground water seeping into the tank during heavy rain fall or the spillage caused by carelessness during lubrication. Old stations without a concrete box enclosing their metal tanks run a greater risk of oil leakage. To research the effect of oil leakage on plant growth and underground water, We examined the results of research conducted overseas. According to these results, when oil leakage occurs, plant growth is repressed and agricultural crops experience low productivity levels. Also, the contamination of underground water can be serious when oil spreads to the aquifer layer. As a result of these problems, to prevent oil leakage and minimize its contaminating effects at oil stations, it is necessary to improve facilities of storage tanks and have the monitoring system of oil leakage.

  • 우리나라는 99,274 $km^2$의 협소한 면적에 산지가 약 70%을 차지하고 있다. 게다가 인구밀도는 세계 3위의 조밀한 국가이다. 따라서 우리나라는 지하공간을 새로이 활용해야 할 국토로 간주하고 적극적으로 개발할 필요가 있다. 우리에게는 지하공간개발이 선택이 아니라 필수이다. 국내에서는 1970년 이후로 가스 원유비축기지, 지하 양수발전소가 건설되었고 주로 대도시에서 지하철, 상가, 보도, 공동구, 주차장 등의 형태로 지하공간이 활용되어 왔다. 여수 지하석유 비축기지와 지하철은 세계적인 규모이다. 최근에는 지하공간의 개발이 더욱 다양화 되고 또한 대규모화 되고 있는 추세이다. 국내 지하공간 개발현황과 문제점 및 대책에 대하여 소개하였다.

  • Groundwater movement is one of the most important elements in the construction and management of underground oil storage cavern. To control the groundwater flow, grouting is run in parallel with water curtains. But as traditional grouting is conducted within cavern before and after excavation, the effect of grouting is delayed and the injection sphere is limited in the rock mass. Therefore, it is desirable to introduce a more extensive and effective grouting. This article is to present the caly grouting, which was the first to be carried out in the construction of underground caverns for oil storage in Japan. After conducting the clay grouting, the effect was confirmed by ground water level and infiltration quantity to the caverns.

  • Brittle failure has been detected in over-stressed rock mass during the construction of oil storage cavern. The main characteristics of stress induced brittle failure of the site are introduced. Various evaluation and measures are sought to stabilize the over-stressed rock mass. The major results from numerical analysis of the cavern are presented, and from current microseismic monitoring to detect hazard from brittle failure are presented.

  • The accidents of oil leakage is increasing in the Underground Concrete structures for Oil Storege. In the result, the waterproofing in the underground structures is melt down and cannot fulfil its Performance. This study shows an experimental study in the effects of the oil leakage to on the performance of Waterproofing Materials. In order to investigate the actual condition and the problems, a comparative analyses were conducted considering the various types of leakage. Utilizing the obtained results at the basic data for test methods and the standard of quality, we intended to propose a strategy to develop an innovated waterproofing Materials and improve the clean environment of underground structures.

  • 서울 근교의 화강편마암지역 지하 석유비축기지 주변 지하수계 모델링 연구를 통하여, 기지 인근에서 지하수를 개발할 때의 영향 및 지하수 개발의 악영향 저감을 위한 수벽공 설치의 효과 등을 파악하고, 실제 설치 후의 영향을 측정하여 모델링 결과와 비교 분석하므로서 기지의 관리 및 운영에 참고하고자 하였다. 심부 지하수를 개발한 경우의 기지 주변의 지하수 유동체계 분석, 그리고 이 개발 위치와 기지 사이에 수벽공을 설치했을 경우의 유동체계를 MODFLOW 수치해석방법으로 분석하였다. 기지 주변 관측공의 실제 지하수위는 EL.+30∼60m 범위에서 변동하며, 모델링 결과는 EL.+20∼50m 범위에서 변동하여 유사한 양상을 보이고 있다. 지하수 개발에 의해 기지 주변의 수위가 하강하였다가 수벽설치 후에 회복되었음을 수치해석을 통해 확인할 수 있었다. 지하지질구조 및 수리지질 요소를 적절히 입력하고 효과적인 모델링 연구를 수행하여 기지의 운영에 기여하였음을 확인하였다.
