층상계 산화물 양극의 4.6V 고전압 특성 향상에서의 Sulfone 첨가제의 역할 (Role of Sulfone Additive in Improving 4.6V High-Voltage Cycling Performance of Layered Oxide Battery Cathode)

  • 층상구조 삼성분계 $LiNi_{1-x-y}Co_xMn_yO_2$ 양극활물질을 4.3 V 이상 고전압으로 충전시키면 용량 증가를 기대할 수 있으나 기존 전해액의 산화안정성이 낮아 고전압 성능 구현에 제한이 있다. 본 연구에서는 설폰계 전해액 첨가제인 dimethyl sulfone (DMS), diethyl sulfone (DES), ethyl methyl sulfone (EMS)을 사용하여 $LiNi_{0.5}Co_{0.2}Mn_{0.3}O_2$ 양극의 고전압 특성을 향상시키고자 한다. 본 논문은 다양한 선형 sulfone계 첨가제가 포함된 전해액에서 3.0-4.6 V 전압범위에서 양극의 충방전 특성과 양극-전해액간 계면거동과 표면층 분석에 대한 내용으로 이루어져 있다. 특히 Dimethyl sulfone (DMS) 첨가제 사용시, 50 사이클 중 $198-173mAhg^{-1}$의 방전 용량과 87%의 용량유지율을 보여 기존 전해액 대비 상당히 향상된 충방전 안정성을 보였다. 표면조성 분광분석 결과, DMS 첨가제 사용시 양극에 안정한 표면보호층이 형성되고 금속 용출이 억제되어 고전압 충방전 특성이 향상되었음 알 수 있었다.

약액(藥液)의 침투주입(浸透注入)에 의한 토질성상변화(土質性狀變化) (Variation of Soil Properties by Permeating Injection of Chemical Grouts)

  • 밀도(密度)가 다른 동일시료토(同-試料土)에 시멘트계(系), 물유리계(系) 및 아크릴아미드계(系) 등의 약액(藥液)을 침투주입(浸透注入)시켜 고결토(固結土)에 대한 토질성상변화(土賢性狀變化)를 구명(究明)한 것이다. 더욱, 매우 잘 다져진 지반(地盤) 그리고 유수중(流水中)에서의 주입효과(注入効果)를 검토(檢討)하기 위하여 1액(液) 1계류식(系流式)과 2액(液) 1계류식(系流式)의 특수주입장치(特殊注入裝置)를 설계제작(設計製作)하여 침투주입(浸透注入)을 시도(試圖)하였다. 고결토(固結土)의 전단강도(剪斷强度) 및 차수효과(遮水効果)의 증대(增大)는 주로 점착력(粘着力)에 의한 것으로서 느슨한 상태의 경우는 박막점착력(薄膜粘着力)에 의해서, 조밀한 경우는 구조성점착력(構造性粘着力)에 의해서 증대(增大)된다. 유수중(流水中)에서의 주입효과(注入効果)는 매우 저하(低下)하여 유속(流速) 및 gel time의 변화(變化)에 따라 45~80%의 유효고결률(有効固結率)이 얻어졌으며, 더욱 주입재(注入材)의 입도(粒度)는 침투성(浸透性) 및 이동거리(移動距離)에는 크게 영향(影響)을 미치나 유효고결률(有効固結率)에는 별다른 영향(影響)이 없다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 관입저항분포도(貫入低抗分布圖)와 등강도곡선(等强度曲線)에 의해 다짐정도(程度)가 매우 큰 지반(地盤)에 대한 고결범위(固結範圍), 고결강도(固結强度) 및 약액침투상황(藥液浸透狀況) 등의 주입효과(注入効果)를 합리적(合理的)으로 판정(判定)할 수 있었다.

A study of the relationship between clinical phenotypes and plasma iduronate-2-sulfatase enzyme activities in Hunter syndrome patients

  • Purpose: Mucopolysaccharidosis type II (MPS II or Hunter syndrome) is a rare lysosomal storage disorder caused by iduronate-2-sulfatase (IDS) deficiency. MPS II causes a wide phenotypic spectrum of symptoms ranging from mild to severe. IDS activity, which is measured in leukocyte pellets or fibroblasts, was reported to be related to clinical phenotype by Sukegawa-Hayasaka et al. Measurement of residual plasma IDS activity using a fluorometric assay is simpler than conventional measurements using skin fibroblasts or peripheral blood mononuclear cells. This is the first study to describe the relationship between plasma IDS activity and clinical phenotype of MPS II. Methods: We hypothesized that residual plasma IDS activity is related to clinical phenotype. We classified 43 Hunter syndrome patients as having attenuated or severe disease types based on clinical characteristics, especially intellectual and cognitive status. There were 27 patients with the severe type and 16 with the attenuated type. Plasma IDS activity was measured by a fluorometric enzyme assay using 4-methylumbelliferyl- ${\alpha}$-iduronate 2-sulphate. Results: Plasma IDS activity in patients with the severe type was significantly lower than that in patients with the attenuated type ($p$=0.006). The optimal cut-off value of plasma IDS activity for distinguishing the severe type from the attenuated type was 0.63 $nmol{\cdot}4hr^{-1}{\cdot}mL^{-1}$. This value had 88.2% sensitivity, 65.4% specificity, and an area under receiver-operator characteristics (ROC) curve of 0.768 (ROC curve analysis; $p$=0.003). Conclusion: These results show that the mild phenotype may be related to residual lysosomal enzyme activity.

Diagnostic Value of Ceruloplasmin in the Diagnosis of Pediatric Wilson's Disease

  • Purpose: Measurement of serum ceruloplasmin level is the first step in screening for Wilson's disease (WD). Despite the rarity of WD in the general population, ceruloplasmin levels are routinely measured through hepatitis screening in both adults and children. Herein, we evaluated the diagnostic value of ceruloplasmin for the diagnosis of WD among children with hepatitis. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed data on serum ceruloplasmin levels measured as a serologic marker for patients with hepatitis at Asan Medical Center (Seoul, Korea) between from January 2004 to November 2013. The diagnosis of WD was confirmed by the identification of pathogenic variants in the ATP7B gene. To determine the diagnostic accuracy of ceruloplasmin, receiver operation characteristic (ROC) curves were constructed and the area under curve (AUC) were calculated. Results: Measurements of serum ceruloplasmin were performed in 2,834 children who had hepatitis. Among these, 181 (6.4%) children were diagnosed with WD. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of a ceruloplasmin level of <20 mg/dL in the discrimination of WD were 93.4%, 84.2%, and 84.8%, respectively. In this study, 418 (14.7%) false-positive cases and 12 (0.4%) false-negative cases were noted. Using a ROC curve, a ceruloplasmin level of ${\leq}16.6mg/dL$ showed the highest AUC value (0.956) with a sensitivity of 91.2%, a specificity of 94.9%, and an accuracy of 94.7%. Conclusion: The measurement of serum ceruloplasmin was frequently used for the screening of WD in children, despite a low positive rate. The diagnostic value of ceruloplasmin may be strengthened by adopting a new lower cut-off level.

Anti-Müllerian hormone levels as a predictor of clinical pregnancy in in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection-embryo transfer cycles in patients over 40 years of age

  • Objective: The aim of the current study was to determine the predictive value of anti-$M{\ddot{u}}llerian$ hormone (AMH) levels for pregnancy outcomes in patients over 40 years of age who underwent in vitro fertilization or intracytoplasmic sperm injection-embryo transfer (IVF/ICSI-ET) cycles. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the medical records of 188 women aged 40 to 44 years who underwent IVF/ICSI-fresh ET cycles due to unexplained infertility in the fertility center of CHA Gangnam Medical Center. Patients were divided into group A, with AMH levels <1.0 ng/mL (n=97), and group B, with AMH levels ${\geq}1.0ng/mL$ (n=91). We compared the clinical pregnancy rate (CPR) in the two groups and performed logistic regression analysis to identify factors that had a significant effect on the CPR. Results: The CPR was significantly lower in group A than group B (7.2% vs. 24.2%, p<0.001). In multivariate logistic regression analysis, AMH levels were the only factor that had a significant impact on the CPR (odds ratio, 1.510; 95% confidence interval, 1.172-1.947). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for AMH levels as a predictor of the CPR was 0.721. When the cut-off level of AMH was set at 1.90 ng/ mL, the CPR was 6.731-fold higher in the group with AMH levels ${\geq}1.90ng/mL$ than in the group with AMH levels <1.90 ng/mL (p<0.001). Conclusion: Our study showed that AMH levels were predictive of clinical pregnancy in infertility patients over 40 years of age. Further prospective studies should be conducted to validate the predictive capability of AMH levels for the outcome of clinical pregnancy.

Comparison of Growth, Milk Yield and Draughtability of Murrah-Philippine Crossbred and Philippine Native Buffaloes

  • Data collected between 1981 and 1991 at the Philippine Carabao Center at Central Luzon State University (PCC-CLSU) were used for the comparison of growth, milk yield and draughtability of Murrah-Philippine crossbred and Philippine native buffaloes. Body weights and body measurements were available at 3-month intervals from birth to 36 months of age for a total of 34 $Murrah{\times}Philippine$ native buffalo F1 crossbreds (CBB; 21 cows, 13 bulls) and 32 Philippine native buffaloes (PNB; 16 cows, 16 bulls). Lactation records were available for 14 CBB and 19 PNB cows. Data for draughtability under wet and dry ploughing conditions were available for 4 CBB and 4 PNB steers. The results indicate that crossbreds grow faster (0-9 months of age: cows $442{\pm}19$ vs. $301{\pm}21g/day$, bulls $305{\pm}23$ vs. $296{\pm}21g/day$; 9-36 months of age: cows $227{\pm}10$ vs. $147{\pm}12g/day$, bulls $282{\pm}13$ vs. $138{\pm}12g/day$), mature earlier and produce more milk (1st lactation: $1139{\pm}153$ vs. $450{\pm}112kg$; 2nd lactation: $1115{\pm}132$ vs. $488{\pm}136kg$) than native buffaloes, but have a poorer draughtability (wet ploughing; force as % of body weight $8.8{\pm}0.2$ vs. $12.2{\pm}0.6$; dry ploughing: cut depth $10.98{\pm}0.25$ vs. $11.92{\pm}0.13cm$, velocity $0.50{\pm}0.03$ vs. $0.60{\pm}0.02m/sec$, force as % of body weight $9.0{\pm}0.6$ vs. $11.3{\pm}0.7$). The correlation coefficients between body weight and body measurements at birth and at 3-month intervals indicate that heart girth has a relatively high correlation with body weight, especially in crossbreds. It is concluded that in Philippine smallholder farming systems in which meat and milk production are secondary to draught power, the native buffalo is preferable from the point of view of input needed to maintain the number of animals kept for a required draught force.

홑꽃형 절화용 스프레이 국화 '드림워터' 육성 (A New Spray Chrysanthemum Cultivar, 'Dream Water' with Single Type for Cut Flower)

  • 'Dream Water'는 경기도농업기술원에서 2009년도에 육성한 절화용 스프레이 국화 신품종이다. 2005년도에 화색이 진한 노랑색이면서 홑꽃형 스프레이 국화 'Patra' 품종을 모본으로 하고 흰색의 스프레이 국화 'Ruces' 품종을 부본으로 하여 교배를 하였다. 2006년에 실생을 양성하여 선발 후 화색과 화형이 우수한 3계통을 예비선발을 수행하였으며, 2007-2009년에 주년 재배성을 위한 3회 이상의 특성 검정과 품평회를 실시한 결과, 절화생육과 개화특성이 우수한 'GCS06-28-3' 계통을 최종 선발하여 '드림워터(Dream Water)'로 명명하였다. 화색은 연한 아이보리 색상을 띄는 흰색계열로(White Group 155B) 깨끗한 이미지를 주고, 홑꽃형이며 중앙의 통상화가 시원한 느낌의 녹색(Yellow Green Group 144A)을 나타내었다. 꽃잎수는 26.8매이고, 화경은 5.6cm에 절화장은 89.7cm, 흰녹병 발생은 거의 없었으며, 절화수명은 16.7일이었다.

  • '레드스카이(Redsky)' 품종은 2000년에 연한 분홍색 품종인 'Vivaldi' 품종을 모본으로 하고 오렌지색 품종인 'Prato' 품종을 부본으로 교배한 계통에서 선발하였으며 증식 및 양구를 통하여 고농F나-10호로 계통을 명명하였고 2005-2007년까지 대관령에서 여름 시설재배를 통하여 생육 및 개화특성을 검정한 후 '레드스카이(Redsky)'로 명명하였다. '레드스카이(Redsky)' 품종은 꽃에 솜털과 향이 없으며 화색이 오렌지 적색(O-R N30D)이고 꽃잎 내부 중심부에 진한 갈색 반점이 있으며 줄기색은 안토시아닌 색소가 들어 있어 진한 자주색이다. 개화방향은 상향이며 주두색은 갈색이고 꽃가루색도 갈색이다. 개화기는 7월 7일로 빠르고 초장은 97.2cm로 길며, 절화당 꽃 수는 4.9개, 화뢰장은 9.3cm였으며 구중은 34.8g이고 구주는 14.8cm의 특성을 가지고 있다. '레드스카이(Redsky)' 품종은 2010년 6월 국립종자원에 신품종으로 등록(3119호)되었다.

  • 'Dream Round'는 경기도농업기술원에서 2010년도에 육성한 절화용 스프레이 국화 신품종이다. 2006년도에 화색이 흰색이면서 갈색심을 가지는 아네모네형 스프레이용 국화 'Hebo' 품종을 모본으로 하고 분홍색의 아네모네형 스프레이용 국화 'Samos' 품종을 부본으로 하여 교배를 하였다. 2007년도에 실생을 양성한 후 선발된 실생계통 중에서 화색과 화형이 우수한 8계통의 예비선발을 수행하였으며, 2008-2010년에 주년 재배성을 위한 3회 이상의 특성검정과 품평회를 실시한 결과, 절화생육과 개화특성이 우수한 'GCS 06-'99-10' 계통을 최종 선발하여 'Dream Round'로 명명하였다. 'Dream Round'는 흰색의 설상화(RHS White Group 155B)에 진분홍색(RHS Red Purple Group 68A)의 통상화를 가지는 아네모네형으로 꽃잎수는 26.1매이고, 꽃직경은 34.1mm 이며, 절화장은 92.4cm이고 흰녹병 발생은 거의 없었으며, 절화 수명은 21.7일 이었다.

평폐산(平肺散)의 효능(效能)에 관(關)한 실험적(實驗的) 연구(硏究) (Experimental Studies on the Effects of Pyeongpaesan)

  • Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) has been used in Korea for many centuries as a treatment for respiratory disease. The effect of Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) on tracheal smooth muscle is not known. The purpose of the present study is to determine the effect of Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) on histamine and acetylcholine induced tracheal smooth muscle contraction in rats and guinea pigs. Guinea pig (500 g, male) and Sprague Dawley rats (200 g, male) were killed by $CO_2$ exposure and a segment (8-10 mm) of the thoracic trachea from each rat and guinea pig was cut into equal segments and mounted 'in pairs' in a tissue bath. Contractile force was measured with force displacement transducers under 0.5 g loading tension. The dose of histamine (His) and acetylcholine (Ach) which evoked 50% of maximal response ($ED_{50}$) was obtained from cumulative dose response curves for histamine and acetylcholine $(10^{-7}{\sim}10^{-4}M)$. Contractions evoked by His $(ED_{50})$ and Ach $(ED_{50})$ were inhibited significantly by Pyeongpaesan (平肺散). In guinea pig tracheal smooth muscle, the mean percent inhibition of acetylcholine induced contraction was 13.5% (p<0.05) after $10{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散), $64.6\(p<0.01)\;after\;30{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散), and $92.8\(p<0.01)\;after\;100{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散). In rat tracheal smooth muscle, the mean percent inhibition of acetylcholine induced contraction was $60.9\(p<0.01)\;after\;30{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散), and $91.2\(p<0.01)\;after\;100{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散). Also, in guinea pig tracheal smooth muscle, the mean percent inhibition of histamine induced contraction was $104.8\(p<0.01)\;after\;30{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) and $142.3\(p<0.01)\;after\;100{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散). In rat tracheal smooth muscle, the mean percent inhibition of histamine induced contraction was $63.7\(p<0.01)\;after\;30{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散), and $107.5\(p<0.01)\;after\;100{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散). Propranolol $(10^{-7}M)$ slightly but significantly attenuated the inhibitory effects of Pyeongpaesan (平肺散). Following treatment with propranolol, the mean percent inhibition caused by $100{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) fell to 15.7% (p<0.05) in guinea pig induced by acetylcholine contraction and the mean percent inhibition caused by $100{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) fell to 22.3% (p<0.05) in guinea pig induced by histamine contraction and by $100{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) fell to 28.7% (p<0.01) in rat induced by histamine contraction. Indomethacin and methylene blue $(10^{-7}\;M)$ did not significantly alter the inhibitory effect of Pyeongpaesan (平肺散). Also, I could find the effects of Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) and Pyeongpaesanga (平肺散加) morphine on the tracheal smooth muscle in guinea pig and rat did not change significantly. These results indicate that Pyeongpaesan. (平肺散) can relax histamine and acetylcholine-induced contraction of guinea pig and rat tracheal smooth muscle, and that this inhibition involves sympathetic effects and the release of cyclooxygenase products.
