The Development of an Algorithm for the Correction of Errors in the Phase Current of the Protective Relay on Distribution System Interconnected with Distributed Generations (분산전원 연계선로에서 보호계전기의 상전류 오차보정 알고리즘 개발)

  • When the ground fault on the power side occurs on distribution system interconnected with distributed generations, the abnormal current is generated in the neutral conductor by the connection type and the iron core structure of transformers for the interconnection of distributed power supplies due to the unbalanced voltage of the system, and subsequently the false operation of the protective relay on the load side occurs. Herein, this paper proposes the method to correct errors in the phase current to prevent the false operation of the protective relay by applying p-q theory and presents the simulation result of the error correction algorithm using PSCAD/EMTDC.

Output Voltage Regulation for Harmonic Compensation under Islanded Mode of Microgrid

  • This study examines a P+multi resonant-based voltage control for voltage harmonics compensation under the islanded mode of a microgrid. In islanded mode, the inverter is defined as a voltage source to supply the full local load demand without the connection to the grid. On the other hand, the output voltage waveform is distorted by the negative and zero sequence components and current harmonics due to the unbalanced and nonlinear loads. In this paper, the P+multi resonant controller is used to compensate for the voltage harmonics. The gain tuning method is assessed by the tendency analysis of the controller as the variation of gain. In addition, this study analyzes the slight voltage magnitude drop due to the practical form of the P+multi resonant and proposes a counter method to solve this problem by adding the PI-based voltage restoration method. The proposed P+multi resonant controller to compensate for the voltage harmonics is verified through the PSIM simulation and experimental results.

  • DC distribution has several differences compared to AC distribution. DC distribution has a higher efficiency than AC distribution when distributing electricity at the same voltage level. Accordingly, power can be transferred further with low-voltage DC. In addition, power flow in a DC grid system is produced by only a voltage difference in magnitude. Owing to these differences, operation of a DC grid system significantly differs from that of an AC system. In this paper, the power flow problem in a bipolar-type DC grid with unbalanced load conditions is organized and solved. Control strategy of energy storage system on a slow time scale with power references obtained by solving an optimization problem regarding the DC grid is then proposed. The proposed strategy is verified with computer simulations.

  • The line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor has a high efficiency and an advantage in constant speed operation regardless of the effect of load variation. However it is difficult to predict the performance of characteristics accurately, because of the unbalanced starting torque with the initial starting position of the rotor and the generation of a break torque. In this paper the dynamic characteristics of the line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor are described and compared with those of the squirrel-cage induction motor through the simulation to find the characteristics of the permanent magnets and the rotor bars in the line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor.

  • Diesel engines have been widely used in ships and power plants because of its higher thermal efficiency, mobility and durability compared to other prime movers. Though these merits, diesel engine including main components are sometimes vibrated due to higher combustion pressure in cylinders. Especially torsional, axial and structural vibrations in propulsion shafting may be severely manifested by the malfunction of torsional and axial dampers and misfiring and unbalanced load in cylinder. The structural vibration of main body and turbocharger core hole are also occurred by the loosen top bracing and excess wear-out or failure of turbocharger's bearings. The marine diesel engine should be safely designed from these vibrations. This paper introduces experimental methods to develop the prototype of integrated vibration monitoring system for marine diesel engine.

  • 전력계통은 끊임없는 외란에 의한 손실이 발생하며 이를 막기 위한 많은 보호설비 및 기술들이 개발되어왔다. 이러한 외란 중 부하 불평형은 중성선 전류를 증가시킬 수 있으며 이는 전력품질을 저하 시키고 전력기기 등에 악영향을 미치게 된다. 따라서 부하 불평형이 배전계통에서 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 EMTP(Electro Magnetic Transient Program)를 사용하여 배전계통의 부하 용량 변화에 따른 불평형을 모의하고 영향을 분석하였다. 각 상별 부하 용량 변화에 따른 전압과 전류 파형을 분석하고 그에 따른 계통 영향 및 불평형율을 계산하였다.

  • This paper presents a simple PWM method to control three phase four leg multilevel inverters, which have been developed for supplying electrical power to three phase unbalanced load and for related power active filters. The method is derived from a general correlation between space vector PWM (SVPWM) method and carrier based PWM (CPWM) method. As an advantage, the simplicity and flexibility of the proposed CPWM control can be obtained and the complicated calculations of the 3-D SVPWM concepts can be avoided. The method has been mathematical formulated and demonstrated by simulation results.

  • Most of LV customer have applied the 3-phase four wire system distribution system because it has advantage of supplying both of 1-phase & 3-phase loads simultaneously. Due to its structural simplicity, it is more convenient for use rather than the conventional separated scheme. But voltage unbalance more commonly emerges in individual customer loads due to phase load unbalance, especially where, single-phase power loads are used. Voltage unbalance factor(VUF) represents the loss of symmetry in the supply(magnitude and angle). It leads some problems such as de-rating or power losses. In this paper, voltage and current waveform in the actual fields have been measured and analyzed in relation with internationally allowable voltage unbalance limits.

  • 이 논문에서는 저속 회전체의 불균일 질량측정을 위한 새로운 신호처리 방법을 제안하고 이를 이용한 자동차 타이어의 보정(balancing) 방법에 관해 설명한다. 타이어를 포함한 시스템의 동력학 모델을 기반으로 타이어의 불균일 질량에 의해 발생되는 진동과 이로 인해 로드셀에 작용하는 힘의 관계식을 유도하고, 센서의 측정계수(scale factor)를 포함한 매개변수를 실험 데이터로부터 계산한다. 또한, 기존 방법과 달리 불균일 질량의 크기와 위치를 정확하고 효율적으로 측정할 수 있는 방법을 소형 마이크로 프로세서를 이용하여 구현하고 실험을 통해 그 성능을 검증한다.

  • This paper deals with voltage regulation at the power Distribution system interconnected with DSG. Modern distribution substation adopt LDC method as the voltage regulation method to deliver suitable voltages to many customers. However, the operations of DSG interconnected with distribution system, the customers' voltage violate the permissible voltage limits. Therefore, to deliver suitable voltage to many customers at the distribution substation, an advanced voltage regulation method is required. In this paper, the on line realtime MLDC (Multiple Line Drop compensation) method, considered daedband and hysterical tap changing of the ULTC, is proposed. The result from a simulation study shows that the proposed method can be practical applications for the voltage regulation at the distribution system interconnected with DSG and unbalanced load pattern among feeders.
