An optimized condition for corrosion protection of Type 304 Films prepared by unbalanced magnetron sputtering in 3.5% NaCl solution

  • Type 304SS coatings were performed at 200$\square$ onto AISI 1045 carbon steel substrate using unbalanced magnetron sputtering (UBMS) with an austenitic AISI 304 stainless steel (SS) target of 100mm diameter. The total deposition pressure in the active Ar gas was 2$\times$10$^{-3}$ Torr. Coatings were done at various target power densities and bias voltages. Chemical compositions of metallic elements of the coatings were measured by energy dispersive X-rays spectroscopy (EDS). The structure and the morphology of Type 304SS coatings were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Corrosion properties of the coated specimens were examined using electrochemical polarization measurements and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in a deaerated 3.5% NaCl solution. The porosity rate was obtained from a comparison of the dc polarization resistance of the uncoated and coated substrates. Scratch adhesion testing was used to compare the critical loads for different coatings. XRD results showed that the sputtered films exhibit a ferritic b.c.c. $\alpha$-phase. Potentiodynamic polarization curves indicated that all samples had much higher corrosion potential and better corrosion resistance than the bare steel substrate. The corrosion performance increased with increasing power density and the adhesion was enhanced at the bias voltage of -50V. An improvement in the corrosion resistance can be obtained with a better coating adhesion. Finally, an optimized deposition condition for corrosion protection was found as $40W/cm^2$ and -50V.

단말기 T-DMB용 안테나로 사용될 수 있는 Open Stub를 가지는 소형 Two-Wire Helical 안테나 (A Compact Two-Wire Helical Antenna with an Open Stub for a T-DMB Antenna of Mobile Devices)

  • 본 논문에서는 모바일 장치의 T-DMB 안테나로 사용될 수 있는 급전 반대편에 open stub를 가지는 소형 two-wire helical 안테나를 제안하였다. Open stub의 길이를 조절하거나 open stub에 유전 물질을 발라 T-DMB 대역인 200 MHz에서 높이가 8 cm(200 MHz에서 0.053 $\lambda$임)인 안테나의 입력 임피던스를 쉽게 매칭시킬 수 있다. 이 안테나의 unbalanced 모드와 balanced 모드의 등가 회로를 이용하여 이 안테나의 등가 회로를 나타내고, 동작 원리를 설명하였다. 등가 회로의 해석을 토대로 open stub의 영향을 검증했다. 몇 가지 다른 파라미터 값을 가지는 안테나를 제작하였으며, 이 안테나의 $S_{11}$$S_{21}$을 측정하였다. 제작된 안테나의 임력 임피던스 대역폭($S_{11}{\leq}-10dB$)은 $196{\sim}204$ MHz(8 MHz)로 T-DMB의 한 채널(6 MHz)을 만족한다. 이 안테나의 측정된 $S_{21}$은 -38.6 dB로 동일한 높이의 모노폴 안테나와 open stub를 가지지 않은 two-wire helical 안테나의 $S_{21}$보다 약 17 dB 높다.

  • Applications in present-day mobile communication systems particularly require miniaturized dimensions and low-profiles of antenna in order to meet the mobile units. Thus, size reductions and bandwidth enhancements are becoming crucial design considerations for practical applications of microstrip antennas. The motivation of further experiments have been stepped to follow those studies for achieving compact and broadband, even multiplied operation modes, which are greatly increased with much attentions recently. To obtain broadband, single-feed, circularly polarized characteristics of microstrip antennas, a design with feed-line ought to be a factor of two. Usually, diagonally balanced-line feeds with hybrid coupler are employed to attain circular polarizations. We firstly formulated DGS (Defected Ground Structures) based operation principles of the entire microstrip components and therefore were able to derive impedance variance of feed-lines. After verifying corresponding experimental results, we targeted the frequency bands of UHF RFID (Ultra High Frequency Radio Frequency IDentification) and approximately of 0.4-2.4GHz have exhibited remarkable two resonance amplitudes as a dual band antenna. Our secondary researches were aimed to design quad band microstrip antenna which represents four resonance characteristics within the identical frequency bands as well. Microstrip patch has been meandered to lengthen the electrical paths, and the other design criteria with respecting physical parameters including radiation patterns and impedance bandwidths measurements will be described for verification. Advisable applications of these antennas can be GSM850, GSM900, GPS (L1-1575 and L2-1227) and UMTS-2110 of cellular systems, which extremely desire multiband and minimum size.

Performance Improvement of Isolated High Voltage Full Bridge Converter Using Voltage Doubler

  • The performance of an isolated high voltage full bridge converter is improved using a voltage doubler. In a conventional high voltage full bridge converter, the diode of the transformer secondary voltage undergoes a voltage spike due to the leakage inductance of the transformer and the resonance occurring with the parasitic capacitance of the diode. In addition, in the phase shift control, conduction loss largely increases from the freewheeling mode because of the circulating current. The efficiency of the converter is thus reduced. However, in the proposed converter, the high voltage dual converter consists of a voltage doubler because the circulating current of the converter is reduced to increase efficiency. On the other hand, in the proposed converter, an input current is distributed when using parallel input / serial output and the output voltage can be doubled. However, the voltages in the 2 serial DC links might be unbalanced due to line impedance, passive and active components impedance, and sensor error. Considering these problems, DC injection is performed due to the complementary operations of half bridge inverters as well as the disadvantage of the unbalance in the DC link. Therefore, the serial output of the converter needs to control the balance of the algorithm. In this paper, the performance of the conventional converter is improved and a balance control algorithm is proposed for the proposed converter. Also, the system of the 1.5[kW] PCS is verified through an experiment examining the operation and stability.

EIS 분석을 통한 Mg 함량에 따른 Zn-Mg 박막의 부식 특성에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Corrosion Property of the Zn-Mg Alloy Coatings with Various Mg Contents using EIS Measurement)

  • In this study, the Zn-Mg alloy coatings with various Mg contents were deposited using an unbalanced magnetron sputtering process. Their surface microstructure, chemical composition, phase, and corrosion property were investigated. The microstructure of the Zn-Mg coatings changed from porous microstructure to dense one with increasing Mg contents in the coatings. As Mg contents in coatings increased, intermetallic phases such as $Mg_2Zn_{11}$ and $MgZn_2$ were detected from X-ray diffraction (XRD) results. The corrosion resistance of the Zn-Mg alloy coatings was investigated quantitatively using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurement with 3.5% NaCl solution. The results of EIS measurement showed that the charge transfer resistance and the phase angle of the Zn-Mg alloy coatings were increased from $162.1{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ to $558.8{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$ and from about $40^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}$ with increasing Mg contents from 5.1 wt.% to 15.5 wt.% in the coatings. These results demonstrate that the Zn-Mg coatings with increasing Mg contents showed an enhanced corrosion resistance.

지중송전계통에서 저감장치를 이용한 시스 순환전류 저감방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Reduction Methods of Sheath Circulating Current using the Reduction Equipment in Underground Transmission Systems)

  • Sheath circulating current is increased in the change of sheath mutual impedance which is caused by unbalanced cable system, and different section length between joint boxes. If excessive current flows in sheath, sheath loss which is reduced the transmission capacity is produced. Recently, excessive sheath circulating current was partially measured in underground cable systems of KEPCO. Accordingly, actual schemes to reduce excessive sheath circulating current are urgently required for installed cable system as well as newly-installing cable systems. This paper describes the relation analysis of sheath circulating current and burying types. And also, various schemes to reduce excessive circulating current using EMTP/ATPDraw and applicable schemes are proposed through a detailed analysis regarding cable systems by considering various electrical and environmental factors. It is evaluated that the proposed reduction schemes can be effectively applied to reduce the excessive sheath circulating current with the minimized electrical problems. And reduction effect is Proved with sheath circulating current reduction equipment.

마이크로스트립-슬롯트 선로에 의한 광대역 마이크로파 Balun (A Microwave Balun by Using Microstrip-Slot Lines)

  • 마이크로스트립선로에 슬롯트선로를 결합시켜 평면형 광변역 balun을 설계, 제작하였다. 특히 C-band(4-8 GHz)에서 완전하게 동작시키기 위하여 슬롯트선로의 특성임피던스를 보상하여 주었으며, 이로써 이론치와 일치되는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 즉. 2 : 1의 부하저항에 대하여 Chebyshev 3-section 변환기로 정합회로를 구성한 결과. 3.5GHz∼7.0GHz의 1 -octave 대역에서 1.2 : 1 이하의 V.S.W.R.을 얻었으며 전송손실은 0.9dB까지 측정되었다. 특히 평형출력의 위상차는 180°±5°이내에서 linear 하게 변화하는 특성을 보이고 있다.

  • An uninterruptible power supply(UPS) with parallel operation is used to increase the power capacity of the system or to secure higher reliability at critical loads. In the parallel operating system composed of the multiple UPSs, load-sharing, i.e. current balance control between them is key technique. Because of its low impedance and quick response characteristics, inverter output current changes very rapidly and thereby easily researches an overload condition. The difference between total load current divided by number of operating inverters and its own current is detected as unbalanced current. Then frequency and voltage are controlled to minimize the active component and the reactive component. A good performance of the proposed load-sharing technique is verified by experiments in the parallel operating system with two 40kVA UPSs.

  • Distribution system can experience the diverse events instantly and permanently. Also, it can experience high impedance fault or line drop under unbalanced situation, Accordingly, it is difficulty to identify the fault location because that data collected from distribution SCADA system may include uncertainty. This paper proposes an expert system, which can infer the faulted location the quickly and exactly for the diverse events in the distribution system. The expert system utilizes distribution SCADA function and collected data, especially, the monitoring mechanism for the normal open position switches is adopted newly in order to recognize the fault type exactly. Also, automated fault location diagnosis strategy is developed in order to minimize the spreading effect of fault obtained from the error of the system operator. The proposed strategy is implemented in C language. Especially, in order to prove the effectiveness of proposed expert system, the several scenario is simulated for the given model system. The real feeders are selected as model system for the simulation.
