제안된 방법에서는 간세포암 환자를 추적관찰 한 초음파영상을 MSE(Mean Squared Error : 평균제곱오차)를 구한 후 PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Ratio)분석을 하였다.
For the measurement of biophysical properties related with cardiovascular diseases (CVD), various microfluidic devices were proposed. However, many devices were monitored by optical equipment. Ultrasound measurement to quantify the biophysical properties can provide new insights to understand the cardiovascular diseases. This study aims to check feasibility of microfluidic device for ultrasound image analysis based on 3D printer. To facilitate acoustic transmission, agarose solution is poured around 3D mold connected with holes of the acrylic box. By applying speckle image velocimetry(SIV) technique, flow information in the bifurcated channel was estimated. Considering that ultrasound signal amplitude is determined by red blood cell (RBC) aggregation, RBC aggregation in the bifurcated channel can be estimated through the analysis of ultrasound signal. As examples of microfluidic device which mimic the CVD model, velocity fields in microfluidic devices with stenosis and aneurysm were introduced.
Fetal monitoring is a routine procedure to obtain a record of physiologic functions during pregnancy and labor. It is required to determine fetal heart frequency accurately. There are various types of fetal heart rate(FHR) determination and the most frequently applied method is transabdominal Doppler ultrasound. However, in the case of weak or noise corrupted Doppler ultrasound signals, conventional peak detections and the autocorrelation function method have many difficulties to determine FHR precisely. Also the autocorrelation function is effected by threshold level and window size. To solve these problems, the high resolution pitch determination algorinthm is introduced to detect FHR from Doppler ultrasound signals. This scheme digitally processes Doppler ultrasound signal for digital rectification, envelope detection, decimation and correlation calculation of two interconnected segments and then FHR is determined by its maximal value. Even in the case of a greatly smeared noise signal, this algorithm is able to search FHR more accurately than autocorrelation function by means of compensating FHR with a constant correlation threshold. This algorithm is simulated by 386-MATLAB on PC 486/DX and verified that it is superior to the autocorrelation function method.
It is known that big brown bats can distinguish echo of a prey at various angles. In this paper, we suggest a new object localization strategy using ultrasonic echolocation. We calculate the relative energy ratio between a high frequency component of ultrasound signal and a low frequency component of ultrasound signal for a target object. We found the measure depends on bearing angle of the object in space. We also tested energy ratio of echoed FM ultrasound signals depending on frequency, based on cross-correlation. It can determine the relative angular position of objects even though the reflected signals are congested form each object.
The piezocomposite transducer is widely used because it is highly efficient in transforming electric energy into mechanical energy, and its frequency range is broader than that of other types of ultrasound transducers. A general piezocomposite transducer is composed of an acoustic lens, impedance matching layers, piezoelectric materials, and backing layers. When an input voltage is applied to a piezoelectric material as an active material, it generates sound waves while vibrating. At that time, an impedance matching layer helps the sound waves to propagate forward while reducing the impedance mismatch that may occur at the interface between the active material and its front material. The impedance mismatch has a negative effect on the signal of an ultrasound transducer; thus, it is important to design a matching layer to overcome the issue. In this study, an optimized feature of a matching layer with gradient properties is studied. An objective function is defined to minimize both the average and the deviation of the reflection coefficients that are functions of the frequencies. As a result, an improvement in the signal characteristics with respect to the sensitivity and bandwidth is reported.
It is required to evaluate nondestructively the crack depth of surface-breaking cracks for the assurance of safety of structure. Optical generation of ultrasound produces well defined pulses with a repeatable frequency content, that are free of any mechanical resonances; they are broad band and are ideal for the measurement of attenuation and scattering over a wide frequency range. Self-calibrating surface signal transmission measurement is very sensitive and practical tool for surface-breaking crack depth. In this paper, the self-calibrating technique by laser-based ultrasound is used to evaluate the depth of surface-breaking crack of material. It is suggested that the relationship between the signal transmission and crack depth can be used as a practical model for predicting the surface-breaking crack depths from the signal transmission measured in structure.
This research quantitatively confirmed an acoustical anisotropy that exists in a pure titanium plate from the signal of ultrasonic flow detection and suggested a new way to evaluate the acoustical anisotropy by inputting acquired characteristic of ultrasound signal into the neutral network. Using the fact with the suggested method that the characteristic of ultrasound signal is shown differently depending on the pure titanium plate's rolling direction, the neural network was constructed by extracting the characteristic that can decide each direction of $0^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, and $90^{\circ}$ with waveform analysis program. As a result of inputting the characteristic of ultrasound signal acquired from a random rolling direction into the neural network that was built like this, it showed a pattern recognition rate higher than 95% on directions of $0^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$.
Pulse echo techniques have been used for the conventional medical ultrasound imaging systems. However, their resolution is limited in the transmitted signal power. To overcome this limit, pulse compression method used in the radar systems was proposed. This system transmits a continuous coded signal and then compresses the received signal into the short and high resolution pulse by using correlator. The reflectors can be detected by cross-correlation between the transmitted signal and the received signal with the depth information. In this paper, we will present a comparative study of the performances of the most common sequences(pseudo-chirp, m-sequences, modified Golay code). The best result for improving resolution is obtained with the modified Golay Code.
