With the fine particulate matter (PM) poses a serious threat to public health and the environment. The ultrafine PM in particular can cause serious problems. This study investigates the effectiveness of a submicron dry fog system in removing fine PM. Two methods are used to create fine dust particles: burning incense and utilizing an aerosol generator. Results indicate that the dry fog system effectively removes fine dust particles, with a removal efficiency of up to 81.9% for PM10 and 61.9% for PM2.5 after 30 minutes of operation. The dry fog, characterized by a mean size of approximately 1.5 ㎛, exhibits superior performance in comparison to traditional water spraying methods, attributed to reduced water consumption and increased contact probability between water droplets and dust particles. Furthermore, experiments with uniform-sized particles which sizes are 1 ㎛ and 2 ㎛ demonstrate the system's capability in removing ultrafine PM. The proposed submicron dry fog system shows promise for mitigating fine dust pollution in various industrial settings, offering advantages such as energy consumption and enhanced safety for workers and equipment.

Because fine dust (PM10) has a close effect on the environment, fine dust generated in the climate and living environment has a bad effect on the human body. In this study, the LSTM model was applied to predict and analyze the effect of fine dust on Gwangju Metropolitan City in Korea. This paper uses prediction values of input variables selected through correlation analysis to confirm fine dust prediction performance. In this paper, data from the Gwangju Metropolitan City area were collected to measure fine dust. The collection period is one year's worth of data was used from january to December of 2021, and the test data was conducted using three-month data from January to March of 2022. As a result of this study, in the as a result of predicting fine dust (PH10) and ultrafine dust (PH2.5) using the LSTM model, the RMSE was 4.61 and the test result value was as low as 4.37. This reason is judged to be the result of the contents of the one-year sample.
The gradual desertification in Northeastern China brought about by the industrial development and global warming, has affected the Korean peninsula as evident by the ultrafine dust geographically and seasonally. People with severe respiratory problems, senior citizens and the infants are susceptible to the ill effects of fine dust which could prove fatal to them. Hence, we need to study the root cause of fine dust emergence and the correlation verification between fine dust and its side effects. This study firstly analyzed clean and contaminated areas classified by industrial elements. We utilized air, weather and industrial data in the area. Next, we detected a change of fine dust in terms of weather and climate. We analyzed correlation of air and weather by influence from domestic and neighboring country. The result indicated that China is the culprit of the emergence of fine dust predicament. Consequently, we can prove that fine dust ($PM_{10}$) and ultrafine dust ($PM_{2.5}$) could arise from geographical, seasonal, and pollutant elements. Therefore, we propose the optimum to make countermeasures about fine dust in terms of industry, topography, population and living residence.
In this paper, the fine dust (PM10) and ultrafine dust (PM2.5) measurement platforms are designed to be mobile and fixed using oneM2M, the international standard for IoT. The fine dust measurement platform is composed and designed with a fine dust measurement device, agent, oneM2M platform, oneM2M IPE, and monitoring system. The main difference between mobile and fixed is that the mobile uses the MQTT protocol for interconnection between devices and services without blind spots based on LTE connection, and the fixed uses the LoRaWAN protocol with low power and wide communication range. Not only fine dust, but also temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, volatile organic compounds (VOC), carbon monoxide (CO), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and noise data related to daily life were collected. The collected sensor values were managed using the common API provided by oneM2M through the agent and oneM2M IPE, and it was designed into four resource types: AE and container. Six functions of operability, flexibility, convenience, safety, reusability, and scalability were analyzed through the fine dust measurement platform design.
This study analyzed the influence of domestic and Chinese factors on fine dust(PM10 & PM2.5) in Korea by using the panel quantile regression. Daily analysis was conducted for 11 regions in Korea. For domestic factors, electricity demand and traffic volume, and for Chinese factors, interaction term of Chinese three cities' fine dust and the domestic west wind are used. As a result, the influence of domestic factors was different when the domestic fine dust concentration was high and low. When the fine dust concentration was low, electricity demand had a positive effect only on PM2.5, and didn't affect PM10 in the national analysis. In regional analysis, the amount of electricity demand had a significant effect on fine dust and ultrafine dust only in the capital area and Chungcheong. Electricity demand was found to significantly increase both PM2.5 and PM10 when it was high. On the other hand, it was confirmed that the Chinese factor always had a significant effect regardless of the concentration of PM10 and PM2.5. Therefore, in order to solve the problem of high concentration of fine dust, in addition to international cooperation, the reduction of PM2.5 generated by domestic thermal power generation should also be strengthened compared to the present.
Purpose: Even if a damage is applied to the dust of the construction site containing the first-class carcinogen, it is dismissed or 5~30% of the amount of noise damage compensation is paid., Because of such loopholes, some construction companies are neglecting the dust management of the construction site, and the damage of the workers and the residents in the construction site continues. Method: The purpose of this study is to examine the problems of the calculation criteria of damage compensation amount of construction site dust, the measurement of dust concentration, the analysis of measurement data (the data of electric signboard measuring device by the mining scattering method), the prediction and evaluation methods such as modeling, and to suggest improvement measures. Result: It is found that it is impossible to calculate the amount of damages from dust damage in the construction site by calculating the current dust damage compensation amount and dust concentration modeling and measurement. Conclusion: It will receive an application for compensation for damage within the site where damage is expected (about 100m in the straight line and the boundary line of the site), and present a method of calculating the amount of compensation that differentially evaluates dust damage to the degree of dust management and compliance with dust-related legal standards.
This study aimed to investigate the influence of anions in the air on the purification of fine dust (PM10 and PM2.5) and to evaluate the effects of plants on the generation of anions in the air and the purification of fine dust. Subsequently, the fine dust reduction models were compared according to each factor and plant volume. The characteristics of anion generation by each factor were observed to be in the order of Type N.I (negative ion generator; 204,133.33 ea/cm3) > Type P30 (plant vol. 30%; 362.55 ea/cm3) > Type C (control; 46.22 ea/cm3), indicating that the amount of anion generation in the anion generator treatment group and the plant arrangement group were approximately 4,417 times and 7 times higher, respectively, than that in the untreated group. Consequently, the fine dust reduction characteristics by anion generation source showed that for PM10, Type NI had a purification efficiency 2.52 times higher than Type C, and Type P30 was 1.46 times higher, while for PM2.5, Type NI had a purification efficiency 2.26 times higher than Type C, and Type P30 was 1.31 times higher. The efficiency of fine dust purification by plant volume was in the order of Type P20 (84.60 minutes) > Type P30 (106.50 minutes) = Type P25 (115.50 minutes) = Type P15 (117.60 minutes) > Type P5 (125.25 minutes) = Type P10 (129.75 minutes), and for ultrafine dust, Type P20 (104.00 minutes) > Type P30 (133.20 minutes) = Type P25 (144.00 minutes) = Type P15 (147.60 minutes) > Type P5 (161.25 minutes) = Type P10 (168.00 minutes). Thus, a quantitative analysis of the anions and plants for purifying fine dust and suggested matters to be considered for future green space planning and plant planting considering fine dust purification.

We proposed a novel method to remove PM2.5 dusts without HEPA filters aiming at applications in kitchens or enclosed work spaces generating PM2.5 at high concentrations. Many workers are exposed to PM2.5 owing to lack of air purification because the high replacement costs of HEPA filters make their application impractical. A key idea is to use the condensational growth of nanoparticles. Once particles grow to the size of a few micrometers, it is much easier to remove them because of their increased inertia. We developed and tested a prototype consisting of an air saturator (equipped with water spray nozzles), a condenser in which humid air was cooled down to make the particles grow, and a multi-impactor assembly for collecting the grown particles.
In this study, the weather conditions corresponding to the increase in the environmental concentration of fine dust (PM10) and ultrafine dust (PM2.5) from 2001 to 2019 in Jeju and Seogwipo cities were analyzed. The increase in the levels of PM10 and PM2.5 was observed in the order: spring > winter > autumn > summer. In both cities, PM10 and PM2.5 levels increased more frequently during the day in spring and summer and at night in autumn and winter, with PM2.5 showing a greater increase in concentration than PM10. The air temperature and wind speed corresponding with increased levels of PM10 were higher than their respective seasonal averages in spring and winter, but lower in summer and autumn. Relative humidity was lower than the seasonal average during all seasons. The air temperature variation corresponding with increased levels of PM2.5 showed the same seasonal trend as that observed for PM10. The relative humidity was higher than the respective seasonal averages in spring and summer, and lower in winter. The wind speed was lower than the seasonal average in both the cities. When the PM10 and PM2.5 levels increased, the wind direction was from the north and the west during the day and varied according to the season at night. The rate of the increase in the PM10 concentration was the highest in both cities at the wind speed of 1.6 - 3.4 ms-1 during the day and night except during night in the summer. The highest concentration of PM2.5 was observed with the wind speed range of 1.6 - 3.4 ms-1 in Jeju, and 0.3 - 1.6 ms-1 in Seogwipo. The results of this study applied to urban and landscape planning will aid in the formulation of strategies to reduce the adverse effects of fine particular matter.

Diesel engines have the advantages of higher thermal efficiency and lower CO2 emissions than gasoline engines, but have the disadvantages that particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions are greater than those of gasoline engines. In particular, nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted from diesel engines generates secondary ultrafine dust (PM2.5) through photochemical reactions in the atmosphere, which is fatal to humans. In order to reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx), pre-treatment systems such as EGR, post-treatment systems such as LNT and Urea SCR have been actively studied. The Urea SCR consists of an injection device injecting urea agent and a catalytic device for reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx). The nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction performance varies greatly depending on the urea uniformity in the exhaust pipe. In this study, spray characteristics according to the spray hole structure were confirmed, and the influence of spray uniformity on spray characteristics was studied through engine evaluation.
