  • In these days, as building structures are getting taller, larger, and more diversified, structural systems with more economy and more efficiency are being required and so are more efficient building materials, this study conducted a basic experiment to conclude an adequate selection of materials and to calculate an optimal mixing proportion of those materials to produce High-strength concrete in a 100MPa of specified concrete strength. And also we conducted an experiment to find out basic properties of this concrete such as slump-flow, strength.

  • In this study, the thermal strain of high strength concrete with the compressive strength of 80, 130, 180MPa were measured under 25% of compressive strength loading condition. As results, it is considered that decline of the elastic modulus and shrinkage strain of high strength concrete become grater at the elevated temperatures.

  • Recently, usage of ultra-high strengh concrete(UHSC) have been increased. Concrete has been recognized as a material which is resistant to high temperatures, but chemicophysical property of concrete is changed by the high temperature. So, mechanical properties of concrete may be reduced. Therefore, this study evaluated effect of the coarse Aggregate volume by high temperature mechanical properties of UHSC. Residual mechanical properties are evaluated under fine aggregate ratio 40,60% and 500℃ temperature on UHSC of W/B 15, 20%. As result, residual mechanical properties of UHSC are high by lower coarse aggregate volume.

  • Although some prediction models have successfully developed for ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC), they do not provide insights and explicit relations between all constituents and its consistency, and compressive strength. In the present study, based on the experimental results, several mathematical models have been evaluated to predict the consistency and the 28-day compressive strength of UHPC. The models used were Linear, Logarithmic, Inverse, Power, Compound, Quadratic, Cubic, Mixed, Sinusoidal and Cosine equations. The applicability and accuracy of these models were investigated using experimental data, which were collected from literature. The comparisons between the models and the experimental results confirm that the majority of models give acceptable prediction with a high accuracy and trivial error rates, except Linear, Mixed, Sinusoidal and Cosine equations. The assessment of the models using numerical methods revealed that the Quadratic and Inverse equations based models provide the highest predictability of the compressive strength at 28 days and consistency, respectively. Hence, they can be used as a reliable tool in mixture design of the UHPC.

  • Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) is an innovative new material that, in comparison to conventional concretes, has high compressive strength and excellent ductility properties achieved through the addition of randomly dispersed short fibers to the concrete mix. This study presents the results of an experimental investigation on the behavior of axially loaded UHPC short circular columns wrapped with Carbon-FRP (CFRP), Glass-FRP (GFRP), and Aramid-FRP (AFRP) sheets. Six plain and 36 different types of FRP-wrapped UHPC columns with a diameter of 100 mm and a length of 200 mm were tested under monotonic axial compression. To predict the ultimate strength of the FRP-wrapped UHPC columns, a simple confinement model is presented and compared with four selected confinement models from the literature that have been developed for low and normal strength concrete columns. The results show that the FRP sheets can significantly enhance the ultimate strength and strain capacity of the UHPC columns. The average greatest increase in the ultimate strength and strain for the CFRP- and GFRP-wrapped UHPC columns was 48% and 128%, respectively, compared to that of their unconfined counterparts. All the selected confinement models overestimated the ultimate strength of the FRP-wrapped UHPC columns.

  • The aim of this study is to suggest the new elastic modulus equation that suits to a domestic situation to coincide the improved mechanical properties of high-strength concrete and ultra-high-strength concrete. For thish purpose, this study collected the laboratory data more than 400 connceted with the the modulus of elasticity that performed in this country and also analyzed it statistically. The compressive strength of investigated concrete ranged from 400 to 1,400kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$. As a result, a practical and useful elastic modulus equation is proposed, it can be considered as most suitable equation in domestic situation.

  • Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) compared to normal concrete is exhibiting extremely high strength characteristics with compressive strength and tensile strength reaching 200MPa and 15MPa, respectively. The mechanical characteristics of UHPC can be thus exploited advantageously in the construction of structure through the reduction of the cross-sectional area and fabrication of slim and light-weight of the structural members. In the case where the structural member is made of UHPC, the occurrence of crack can be prevented by releasing the restraint provided by the form in due time. This research performs parametric study of the failure characteristics of concrete such as failure energy and softening curve suggested by the viscous crack model approximating the failure of concrete. The scope of this research contains the results of tests performed to investigate the strength of UHPC during early elapsed time.

  • In current research, it was attempted a preliminary design and evaluation of non-uniform ultra high-strength concrete (UHSC) truss members. UHSC used here has the compressive strength of 180 MPa, the tensile strength of 8 to 20 MPa, and the tensile strain after cracks up to 2%. By the three-dimensional finite element stress analysis as well as strut-tie approach on concrete solid beams, the non-uniform truss shape of UHSC truss was designed with the architectural esthetic concept. In a series of examples, to compare with conventional concrete members, the proposed UHSC truss members have advantages in capabilities of the slender design with minimum weight with high performances under transverse loadings as well as the aesthetically non-uniform design for spatial structures.

  • This study investigates the behavior of ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) with hybrid macro-micro steel and macro steel-polypropylene (PP) fibers. Compression, direct and indirect tension tests were carried out on cubic and cylindrical, dogbone and prismatic specimens, respectively. Three types of macro steel fibers, i.e., round crimped (RC), crimped (C), and hooked (H) were combined with micro steel (MS) and PP fibers in overall ratios of 2% by volume. Additionally, numerical analyses were performed to validate the test results. Parameters studied included, fracture energy, tensile strength, compressive strength, flexural strength, and residual strength. Tests showed that replacing PP fibers with MS significantly improves all parameters particularly flexural strength (17.38 MPa compared to 37.71 MPa). Additionally, the adopted numerical approach successfully captured the flexural load-deflection response of experimental beams. Lastly, the proposed regression model for the flexural load-deflection curve compared very well with experimental results, as evidenced by its coefficient of correlation (R2) of over 0.90.

  • This paper presents a numerical investigation on the mechanical performance of concrete-filled dual steel tubular columns of circular section subjected to concentric axial load. A three-dimensional numerical model is developed and validated against a series of experimental tests. A good agreement is obtained between the experimental and numerical results, both in the peak load value and in the ascending and descending branches of the load-displacement curves. By means of the numerical model, a parametric study is carried out to investigate the influence of the main parameters that determine the axial capacity of double-tube columns, such as the member slenderness, inner and outer steel tube thicknesses and the concrete grade - of both the outer concrete ring and inner core -, including ultra-high strength concrete. A total number of 163 numerical simulations are carried out, by combining the different parameters. Specific indexes are defined (Strength Index, Concrete-Steel Contribution Ratio, Inner Concrete Contribution Ratio) to help rating the relative mechanical performance of dual steel tubular columns as compared to conventional concrete-filled steel tubular columns, and practical design recommendations are subsequently given.
