유한요소해석에 의한 요철형 이음단면을 갖는 프리캐스트 바닥판의 휨성능 평가 (Evaluation on Flexural Performance of Precast Decks with Ribbed Joint by FEM)

  • 본 연구에서는 요철형 이음단면을 갖는 프리캐스트 교량 바닥판 이음부의 정적 휨성능을 예측하기 위한 비선형 유한요소해석 모델을 구성하였으며, 선행연구에 의한 실험결과와의 비교를 통해 유한요소해석의 적합성을 확인하였다. 유한요소해석 모델을 구성하는 재료특성으로 각각의 이론을 적용하였으며, 실험결과 및 사전 변수해석을 통해 입력변수들을 결정하여 유한요소해석 모델을 구성하였다. 본 연구에서 수행된 유한요소해석 결과는 각각의 실험체에 대한 구조적 거동을 평균 5% 이내로 비교적 정확하게 추정하는 것으로 나타났으며, 소성 변형률 분포로부터 각 실험체의 균열양상 및 파괴형태를 간접적으로 예측할 수 있었다. 따라서 본 연구에서 사용된 유한요소해석 모델은 향후 프리캐스트 바닥판 이음부의 극한거동 예측 및 이음부의 설계식 도출을 위한 변수해석 연구 등에 효과적으로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • 유리섬유를 사용한 섬유강화복합체(Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer, GFRP) 보강근의 인장강도 및 부착성능 등은 철근과 다르기 때문에 GFRP 보강근을 콘크리트 구조물에 적용하기 위해서는 GFRP 보강근으로 보강된 콘크리트 부재의 거동에 관한 연구가 선행되어야 한다. GFRP는 높은 비강도, 경량성, 비부식성 등의 장점을 가지고 있으나 탄성계수가 철근보다 작아 상대적으로 큰 처짐이 발생하는 단점이 있다. 교량 바닥판은 아칭효과 등에 의해 휨성능이 증가하므로 FRP 보강근을 우선 적용할 수 있는 대상 중 하나이다. 본 논문은 국내에서 개발된 철근 대체재용 GFRP 보강근의 콘크리트 구조물로의 적용 가능성을 관찰하기 위한 실험연구에 관한 것으로 폭과 길이가 3,000 mm, 4,000 mm이고 두께가 240 mm인 실제 크기의 콘크리트 바닥판을 제작하여 GFRP 보강근의 보강비에 따른 거동을 관찰하였다. 정적실험을 수행하였으며 DB-24 하중등급의 축하중을 모사한 재하면적을 가진 직사각형 강재로 바닥판이 파괴될 때까지 집중하중을 가하였다. 철근 보강 바닥판과 GFRP 보강 바닥판의 거동차이를 최대성능 및 처짐 거동 등에 대해 비교 검토하였다.

Strengthening of Cutouts in Existing One-Way Spanning R. C. Flat Slabs Using CFRP Sheets

  • Openings in slabs are usually required for many different applications such as aeriation ducts and air conditioning. Opening in concrete slabs due to cutouts significantly decrease the member stiffness. There are different techniques to strengthen slabs with opening cutouts. This study presents experimental and numerical investigations on the use of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) as strengthening material to strengthen and restore the load carrying capacity of R.C. slabs after having cutout in the hogging moment region. The experimental program consisted of testing five (oneway spanning R.C. flat slabs) with overhang. All slabs were prismatic, rectangular in cross-section and nominally 2000 mm long, 1000 mm width, and 100 mm thickness with a clear span (distance between supports) of 1200 mm and the overhang length is 700 mm. All slabs were loaded up to 30 kN (45% of ultimate load for reference slab, before yielding of the longitudinal reinforcement), then the load was kept constant during cutting concrete and steel bars (producing cut out). After that operation, slabs were loaded till failure. An analytical study using finite element analysis (FEA) is performed using the commercial software ANSYS. The FEA has been validated and calibrated using the experimental results. The FE model was found to be in a good agreement with the experimental results. The investigated key parameters were slab aspect ratio for the opening ratios of [1:1, 2:1], CFRP layers and the laminates widths, positions for cutouts and the CFRP configurations around cutouts.

  • AIM: The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the torsional fracture resistances, cyclic fatigue resistance, and bending stiffness of two nickel-titanium (NiTi) rotary instruments made of different heat-treated alloy: Aurum Blue (heat-treated) and Aurum Pro (conventional). Methods: Forty-five Aurum Blue and Aurum Pro NiTi files were selected for the three mechanical tests (n=15). For the torsional resistance test, 3 mm file tip was fixed and the shaft was driven clockwise at 2 rpm until fracture occurred by using a customized device. Cyclic fatigue resistance was evaluated by rotating instruments in artificial canal with dynamic mode. Bending stiffness was tested by observation of the bending moment on attaining a 45° bend. The results were analyzed by student-t tests at a significance level of 95%. The fractured surface of each groups were examined under a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Results: Aurum Blue showed significantly higher toughness, ultimate strength, distortion angle, and number of cycles to failure than those of Aurum Pro (p < 0.05). However, Aurum Blue and Aurum Pro did not differ significantly in terms of bending stiffness. SEM showed typical topographic appearances of the cyclic fatigue and torsional fracture. Conclusions: Under the limitations of this study, heat-treated instruments showed higher flexibility and fracture resistances than conventional NiTi instruments.

Crack effect on the elastic buckling behavior of axially and eccentrically loaded columns

  • A close form solution of the maximum deflection for cracked columns with rectangular cross-sections was developed and thus the elastic buckling behavior and ultimate bearing capacity were studied analytically. First, taking into account the effect of the crack in the potential energy of elastic systems, a trigonometric series solution for the elastic deflection equation of an arbitrary crack position was derived by use of the Rayleigh-Ritz energy method and an analytical expression of the maximum deflection was obtained. By comparison with the rotational spring model (Okamura et al. 1969) and the equivalent stiffness method (Sinha et al. 2002), the advantages of the present solution are that there are few assumed conditions and the effect of axial compression on crack closure was considered. Second, based on the above solutions, the equilibrium paths of the elastic buckling were analytically described for cracked columns subjected to both axial and eccentric compressive load. Finally, as examples, the influence of crack depth, load eccentricity and column slenderness on the elastic buckling behavior was investigated in the case of a rectangular column with a single-edge crack. The relationship of the load capacity of the column with respect to crack depth and eccentricity or slenderness was also illustrated. The analytical and numerical results from the examples show that there are three kinds of collapse mechanisms for the various states of cracking, eccentricity and slenderness. These are the bifurcation for axial compression, the limit point instability for the condition of the deeper crack and lighter eccentricity and the fracture for higher eccentricity. As a result, the conception of critical transition eccentricity $(e/h)_c$, from limit-point buckling to fracture failure, was proposed and the critical values of $(e/h)_c$ were numerically determined for various eccentricities, crack depths and slenderness.

Predicting shear capacity of NSC and HSC slender beams without stirrups using artificial intelligence

  • The use of high-strength concrete (HSC) has significantly increased over the last decade, especially in offshore structures, long-span bridges, and tall buildings. The behavior of such concrete is noticeably different from that of normal-strength concrete (NSC) due to its different microstructure and mode of failure. In particular, the shear capacity of structural members made of HSC is a concern and must be carefully evaluated. The shear fracture surface in HSC members is usually trans-granular (propagates across coarse aggregates) and is therefore smoother than that in NSC members, which reduces the effect of shear transfer mechanisms through aggregate interlock across cracks, thus reducing the ultimate shear strength. Current code provisions for shear design are mainly based on experimental results obtained on NSC members having compressive strength of up to 50MPa. The validity of such methods to calculate the shear strength of HSC members is still questionable. In this study, a new approach based on artificial neural networks (ANNs) was used to predict the shear capacity of NSC and HSC beams without shear reinforcement. Shear capacities predicted by the ANN model were compared to those of five other methods commonly used in shear investigations: the ACI method, the CSA simplified method, Response 2000, Eurocode-2, and Zsutty's method. A sensitivity analysis was conducted to evaluate the ability of ANNs to capture the effect of main shear design parameters (concrete compressive strength, amount of longitudinal reinforcement, beam size, and shear span to depth ratio) on the shear capacity of reinforced NSC and HSC beams. It was found that the ANN model outperformed all other considered methods, providing more accurate results of shear capacity, and better capturing the effect of basic shear design parameters. Therefore, it offers an efficient alternative to evaluate the shear capacity of NSC and HSC members without stirrups.

말뚝의 설치 방법에 따른 관내토의 폐색 거동 (Soil Plugging Behavior of Open -ended Pile for Different Installation Methods)

  • 내관과 외관이 분리된, 특별하게 제작된 모형 개단 말뚝을 상이한 방법으로 압력토조내에 설치하여 정적 압축 재하 실험을 실시하였다. 개단 말뚝 각 지지부에서의 지지력을 분리.측정하여 개단 말뚝의 지지 메카니즘과 관내토의 폐색 거동 특성을 고찰하였다. 상대밀도 49%의 모형 지반에 타격 관입된 말뚝의 관내토폐색력은 관입도중 20%정도 발휘되고 압축재하시에 대부분이 발휘되며, 토조에 작용된 구속 압력은 관내토 폐색에 크게 영향을 미치지 않았다. 그러나, 진동 관입된 말뚝의 관내토 폐색력은 관입도중에는 전혀 발생하지 않으며, 압축재하시에 약하게 형성되고, 타격 관입말뚝의 그것의 0.5~0.7배 정도가 발휘되는데 토조에 작용된 구속 압력은 관내토 폐색에 크게 영향을 미쳤다. 단위 관내토 폐색력은 극한 상태에서 최대값에 도달하지 않았다. 즉, 극한 상태에서 관내토는 파괴상태에 도달되지 않았다.

최소철근량 이하로 보강된 강섬유보강 보의 휨성능 고찰 (A Study on the Flexural Performance of Steel Fiber-Reinforced Beams lightly Reinforced Below the Minimum Steel Reinforcement)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내 콘크리트구조기준(2012)에서 규정하고 있는 최소철근량 이하로 보강된 보에 강섬유를 혼입한 강섬유보강철근콘크리트보의 휨파괴 실험을 수행하였다. 실험변수는 철근비와 강섬유의 혼입량으로 하였다. 철근보강비는 최소철근량의 44%, 66%, 78%와 100%로 하였으며, 강섬유의 혼입량은 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75% 및 1.00%이다. 실험결과, 강섬유는 균열저항성능을 크게 개선시키는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한, 하중저항성능의 관점에서 강섬유는 항복하중의 증가에 기여하지만 극한하중의 증가에는 거의 기여하지 못하는 것을 확인하였다. 강섬유로 인한 항복하중의 증가량은 철근 감소로 인한 항복하중의 감소량에 비하여 미미한 것으로 나타났다. 최소철근보에서 강섬유의 사용은 오히려 연성을 크게 감소시키는 것으로 확인되었다. 따라서 최소철근 휨부재에 강섬유를 사용하기 위해서는 연성도 확보를 위하여 철근비를 증가시켜야 하는 것으로 확인되었다.

  • 최근 들어 기초지반 하부를 보강하는 방법으로 4층 또는 5층으로 보강재를 수평으로 배치하여 지지력을 증가시키는 공법이 연구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기초하부 지반을 보강함으로서 지반이 갖는 전단강도 정수를 증가시키는 방법을 검토한 것이다. 그래서 지반을 구형 또는 반원형으로 토목섬유를 사용하여 감싸는 공법을 개발하게 되었는데 이는 흡사 확대기초 밑에 또 하나의 확대기초가 존재하는 양상이 된다. 이러한 토목섬유보강 확대기초의 지지력에 대한 메카니즘을 검토하기 위해서 알루미늄봉을 이용한 모형재하시험을 실시하였다. 모형재하시험에서 제안된 토목섬유보강 확대기초를 만들어서 하중을 직접 재하함으로서 극한지지력의 증가정도를 확인하였으며, 또한 격자표시법에 의해 지반의 점들이 이동하는 방향 등을 점검하였고, B-Shutter 촬영법을 이용하여 소성파괴가 일어나는 영역을 확인하였다.

탄소섬유시트로 보강된 철근콘크리트 보의 시공불량시 휨 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Flexural Behavior of Externally Reinforced R.C. Beam with Carbon Fiber Sheet : In Case of Constructional Deficiencies)

  • The flexural behavior of the reinforced concrete (RC) structure upgraded by external reinforcements was examined in this study. It is well known that the incorporation of carbon fiber sheet (CFS) with concrete is one of the most effective ways to strengthen the RC structure. Complete bonding is required between CFS and concrete in order to make the RC structure provide its full function until the time the Re structures serve. Many studies have reported that construction deficiencies have caused the debonding of the CFS from concrete before the RC structure with CFS reaches its ultimate capacity. This research took a systematic look at the failure mechanism, macroscopic load-deformation characteristics, the maximum load applied, and maximum bending moment when construction deficiencies exist. The results of the experiment conducted were compared with theoretically derived values. In the future, the results of this investigation will help minimize the factors of construction deficiencies, which may occur when CFS is used to reinforce a RC structure. The experiment was manipulated with steel reinforcement ratio and piles of CFS on a total of 14 beams ($20cm{\times}30cm{\times}240cm$). The results showed that internal moment capacity increased even when construction deficiencies existed. However, RC structures with CFS in the field still contain a considerable level of potential risks.
