전달 행렬 방법을 이용한 Schottky 다이오드 자외선 광검출기의 물질특성 추출과 설계 (Extraction of Material Parameters and Design of Schottky Diode UV Detectors Using a Transfer Matrix Method)

  • 전달 행렬 방법과 capacitance-voltage 특성, 그리고 측정된 광응답 스펙트럼을 이용하여 Schottky 다이오드 UV-A와 B 광검출기에 사용되는 GaN, $Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}N$ 등의 반도체 및 Schottky 접촉 금속 Ni의 물질특성인 흡수계수(absorption coefficient)를 추출하였다. 입사된 빛이 반도체의 공핍영역에서 흡수되는 양을 구하고, 이로부터 각 파장에서의 광응답 특성을 얻는 과정을 컴퓨터 프로그램으로 구현하였다. 그리고, 계산 값을 측정치와 비교하여 각 파장에서 GaN, $Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}N$, Ni의 흡수계수를 얻을 수 있었다. 추출된 흡수계수를 이용하여 자외선 광검출기의 광응답을 높이는 설계 방안을 모색하였다. Ni의 흡수계수가 크기 때문에 광응답을 결정하는 주요 요소는 Ni 전극의 두께이다. 따라서 Schottky 접촉 금속 Ni의 두께를 줄이고, 공핍 영역의 크기를 늘릴 수 있다면 광응답 특성이 더욱 향상된 광검출기의 실현이 가능해질 것이다.

Photoluminescence Excitation Spectroscopy Studies of Anodically Etched and Oxidized Porous Zn

  • Photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectroscopy studies were performed for anodically etched porous Zn, which exhibited a PL in the blue/violet spectral range peaking at 420 nm (2.95 eV), and oxidzed porous Zn at 380$^{\circ}C$ for 10 min and 12 h. A broad absorption band was observed at 4.07 eV (305 nm), 3.49 (355 nm) for anodically etched porous Zn. In contrast, both the oxidized porous Zn and sintered ZnO exhibited an almost identical one broad absorption band at 3.85 eV (322 nm), when PLE spectra were measured at 378 nm (3.28 eV). The oxidized porous Zn and sintered ZnO, which displayed both UV and green luminescence band, showed an additional absorption band at 389 nm (3.19 eV) and 467 nm (2.66 eV). In contrast, no significant absorption band was detected for a 10-min oxidized porous Zn, which only displayed one UV luminescence void of deep-level luminescence. These absorption bands determined by PLE studies enabled a clear understanding of an emission mechanism for the UV and green luminescence from ZnO.

A study on the HPHT-processed NOUV diamonds by means of their gemological and spectroscopic properties

  • This study has been carried out with the eight HPHT processed NOUV diamonds - two yellow, two yellowish green, two green and two orangy yellow color stones. The gemological properties of these diamonds included a highly saturated body color, graphitized fractures around the girdles, tension cracks around crystalline inclusions, long-wave UV with medium yellowish green to a very strong yellowish green luminescence, and short-wave UV with faint yellowish green to a strong yellowish green luminescence. Distinctive features of spectroscopic properties include absorption peaks at 415 nm and 503 nm a strong absorption band at $460{\sim}480nm$ and a H2 center at 986nm. Infrared spectra showed an absorption peak at $1344cm^{-1}$ (C center), which is the characteristics related to single substitutional nitrogen.

광흡수에 의한 $LiNbO_{3}$ 단결정의 결함 구조 연구 (A study of defect structures in $LiNbO_{3}$ single crystals by optical absorptions)

  • 고주파로의 이용한 Czocharalski 법으로 congruent$(R_{m}=R_{c}=0.945)$, stoichiometric$(R_{m}=1,\;R_{c}=0.957)$, Li-rich$(R_{m}=1.202,\;R_{c}=0.989)$, congruent한 조성에 $K_{2}O$를 6 wt% 첨가한 $LiNbO_{3}$ 등의 순수한 단결정들과 congruent한 조성에 Mg와 Mn을 불순물로 첨가한 $LiNbO_{3}:Mn(0.1\;mole%),\;LiNbO_{3}:Mg(4.5,\;6.0,\;10.0\;mole%),\;LiNbO_{3}:(Mg(4.5,\;6.0,\;10.0\;mole%)+Mn(0.1\;mole%))$ 단결정들을 결정의 c.축 방향으로 성장시켰다. 실온데서 UV 스펙트럼과 IR 스펙트럼을 측정한 결과 UV 흡수단과 $OH^{-}$ 흡수 스펙트럼은 [Li]/[Nb] 비에 따라 변화한다. 또 첨가한 Mg, Mn 불순물들의 영향을 받는데 UV 흡수단의 위치와 $OH^{-}$ 흡수 스펙트럼의 위치, 모양이 Mg의 첨가량에 크게 의존하며 이는 Mg의 첨가량에 따라 이 이온의 결정내 위치가 달라지기 때문이다. 순수한 단별정들에 대한 $OH^{-}$ 흡수 스펙트럼을 Gaussian 선모습 함수를 써서 3, 5 개의 성분 스펙트럼으로 분해한다. 이 결과를 설명하기 위한 $LiNbO_{3}$ 단결정내의 배내, 배외 결함 구조에 대한 논의로 부터 Li 빈자리 모델이 결함 구조를 설명하는데 적합하다는 결론을 내렸고 이들 불순물 이온의 결정내의 위치도 정한다. 또한 결함 구조에 대한 본 연구의 결론을 이용하여 최근의 다른 연구자들의 실험 결과도 설명한다.

수정체 광투과에 대응하는 LPE Filter 설계 (Layout of Long-pass-edge Filter Correspond with the Optical Transmission in Crystalline)

  • 소의 수정체의 광투과, 흡수 Spectrum을 Spectrophotometer로 200-800nm 영역에서 측정하였다. 자외선 A-B선 모두 흡수되고 400nm 영역에서 광투과 edge가 나타나고, edge 영역보다 큰 파장에서는 완전투과형 filter가 되었다. 특히 $4^{\circ}C$-$60^{\circ}C$온도에서 광흡수 투과율의 온도조성은 없었다. 박막 설계로부터 long-pass edge filter형인 $n_0/(0.5H)L(LH)^6(0.5H)/n_s$$n_0{\mid}(0.5LH0.5L)^kL/1.25{\mid}4.0$ 박막 구조가 소의 수정체 광투과 Spectrum과 일치함을 알 수 있었다. 인공수정체, 안내렌즈의 설계시 박막구조 설계를 추가함으로써 자외선 차단 역할을 할 수 있다.

  • UV-VIS 흡광광도법으로 Nd, Pr, Sm, Eu, Ho 및 Er을 정량할 때 스펙트럼 방해를 다원소 보정법으로 방법에 대하여 연구하였다. 개별희토류의 흡광도를 측정하고 또, Nd와 Pr의 혼합용액 및 Sm, Eu, Ho, Er의 혼합용액의 흡광도를 측정하여 몰흡광 계수를 구하고 이들로부터 상호 방해가 가장 적은 파장 즉, Nd(444.2nm), Pr(575.1nm), Sm(401.7nm), Eu(394.2nm), Ho(416.6nm), Er(379.7 nm)임을 알았다.

UV/$TiO_2$ 시스템을 이용한 Rhodamine B의 색도 제거 (Decolorization of Rhodamine B Using UV/$TiO_2$ System)

  • The photocatalytic decolorization of the Rhodamine B (RhB) was studied using a UV/TiO$_2$ reactor. Yakuri titanium dioxide(anatase) was used as the suspended photocatalyst and proved to be effective for decolorization irradiated with UV light (254 mm). The photocatalyzed dioxide concentrations, light intensity and air flow rates. In 0.01 mM RhB, color could be completely photodegraded after 3 hours. Absorption spectrum of an aqueous solution containing RhB showed a continued diminution of the RhB concentration in the solution bulk : concomitantly, no new absorption peaks appeared. This confirmed the decolorization of RhB, i.e., the break up of the chromopore. The optimum loaded titanium dioxide for the decolorization was 0.75 g/(equation omitted). The light intensity showed exponential decay with distance. The decay of light intensity of RhB solution showed different tendency from TiO$_2$. These results suggested that the photocatalytic decolorization of dyes may be available method for decolorizing in wastewater.

Microwave-assisted Solvent-free Synthesis of Some Dimethine Cyanine Dyes, Spectral Properties and TD-DFT/PCM Calculations

  • A series of dimethine cyanine dyes were synthesized in a fast, efficient and high yield by the condensation of quaternary salts with 1H-indole-3-carbaldehyde in the presence of piperidine under solvent-free microwave irradiation. The products were identified by 1H NMR, IR, UV-Vis spectra and elemental analysis. The absorption and fluorescence properties of these dyes were investigated both experimentally and theoretically. Calculations performed at a combination of time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) and the polarizable continuum model (PCM) reproduced the π-π* type absorption bands of the dyes. Regression analysis was used for studying theoretical results of the absorption maxima in different solvents. Compared with experimental counterparts, estimated overall uncertainties in the absorption maxima were about ±2%.

  • Iron-doped LiNbO$_3$ crystals were grown by floating zone(FZ) method with different [Li]/[Nb] ratio in order to investigate doping effects of transition metal impurity in LiNbO$_3$ crystal. The grown crystals were analyized edge in UV/VIS/IR spectrometry and EPMA(electron probe micro-analysis). The absorption edge in UV-VIS region and OH-absorption peak in IR region were investigated. The change of Fe concentration along the solidification direction was also investigated

나노 다공 구조를 가진 알루미나 재료의 UV 레이저 미세가공에 관한 실험적 기초 연구 (Basic Experimental Investigations to UV Laser Micro-Machining of Nano-Porous Alumina Ceramic Material)

  • Recently UV laser is widely used to process micro parts using various materials such as polymers, metals and ceramics because it has a very high intensity at the focused spot area. It is generally known that there are still some difficulties for alumina($Al_2O_3$) ceramics to directly make micro patterns like holes and lines on the surface of working material using 355nm UV laser because the alumina has a very low absorption coefficient at that wavelength. But nowadays new alumna with nano-porous holes is developed and applied to advanced micro functional parts of IT, BT and BT industries. In this paper, we are going to show the mechanism of photo-thermal ablation for nano-porous ceramics. Inside hole there is a lot of multiple reflections along the depth of hole. Experimentally we can find the micro hole drilling and micro grooving on the surface of nano-porous alumina.
