Sesamin and sesamolin, antioxidant lipidsoluble lignan compounds, are abundant in sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) seed oil and provide oxidative stability of oil related to sesame quality. The sesamin and sesamolin contents of 403 sesame land races of Korea were determined by HPLC analysis of methanol extract (HPLC value), and their total lignan content was compared with those by using UV-Vis spectrophotometric analysis (UV method) of methanol (UV-MeOH value) and hexane (UV-Hexane value) extracts. HPLC values of total lignan content were strongly associated with UV-Hexane (r=0.705**) and UV-MeOH (r=0.811**) values. The UV values from both the extracts were 3.8-4.7 times higher than those of HPLC values. Lignan content was overestimated by UV method because total compounds in the mixture solution were quantified by absorbing at the same ultraviolet wavelength as in HPLC method. UV method could more rapidly analyze small amount of sample with higher sensitivity of detection than HPLC method. Average contents of lignans in sesame germplasm evaluated in this study were $2.09{\pm}1.02mg/g$ of sesamin, and $1.65{\pm}0.61mg/g$ of sesamolin, respectively, showing significant variation for lignan components. The results showed that UV method for the determination of sesamin and sesamolin could be practically used as a faster and easier method than HPLC by using the regression equations developed in this study.
A simple and new experimental method for determination of lysozyme-M. lysodeikticus cell lysis reaction and lysozyme activity was suggested using Beer's law. The UV transmittance of the solution changed with the concentration of M. lysodeikticus and the relationship between the UV transmittance and M. lysodeikticus cell concentration followed Beer's Law. In addition, it was experimentally proven that the UV transmittance of the solution was not influenced by the lysozyme concentration and product of the lysis reaction. During the lysozyme-M. lysodeikticus cell lysis reaction, thus, M. lysodeikticus cell concentration in the solution could be measured in-situ by UV-spectrophotometer. By using these experimental data, kinetic Parameters of the Michaelis-Menten equation for the lysozyme-M. lysodeikticus cell 1ysis reaction was simply determined The maximum reaction rate constant ($k_3$) and Michaelis-Menten constants were $0.1734sec^{-1}$ and $9.83{\times}10^{-6}M$ respectively. The activity of the lysozyme could also be obtained with this experiment because the lysis reaction rate of the 1ysozyme depended on its activity.

The inorganic pigments of $Fe_2O_3-CoO-Cr_2O_3-MnO_2$ were synthesized by the co-precipitation method. $FeCl_3,\;CoCl_2,\;CrCl_3\;and\;MnCl_2$ are used for the starting raw materials, and 2 N-KOH for precipitator. $MnCl_2$ is secured with 10 mole%, and 6 composition ratios are used with three ingredients to synthesize the pigments. The samples were calcined at $1350^{\circ}C/1.5h$. The resulting pigments were characterized by using XRD, FT-IR, SEM, and UV spectrophotometer. 6wt% pigments were applied to lime glaze and lime-barium glaze respectively firing at $1260^{\circ}C$ for oxidation atmosphere and $1240^{\circ}C$ for reduction one. The results of color analysis by using UV spectrophotometer showed black, bluish black and dark grayish green.

Au fine particles dispersed $TiO_{2}$ film was prepared on silica glass substrate by sol-gel dipping and firing process. The $TiO_{2}$ films were fabricated from the system of titanium tetraisopropoxide-EtOH-HCl-$H_{2}O$-hydrogen tetrachloroaurat (III) tetrahydrate. The conditions for the formation of clear solution and dissolving high concentration of Au compound were examined. Photoreduction process was adopted to control the size of gold metal particles. Phase evolution of matrix $TiO_{2}$ and variation of Au particle with UV irradiation were investigated by XRD, SEM, TEM and UV-visible spectrophotometer. The effect of CPCl (Cetylpyridinium chloride monohydrate) as a dispersion agent was evaluated.

A newly developed silkworm variety, GoldenSilk makes bright yellow cocoon. In this article, the basic characteristics of GoldenSilk cocoon were examined through color analysis, degumming characteristics and UV spectrophotometer. The colorant of GoldenSilk cocoon was not distributed evenly throughout the cocoon layer but existed in the outer layer of the cocoon. The colorant has not good resistance against sunlight. The degumming loss percentage of GoldenSilk cocoon was 29.2%, which is relatively higher than that of the authorized one. UV spectrophotometer showed specific absorption band around 400 to 500 nm, which is the specific yellow colorant of the GoldenSilk cocoon extracted to the degumming solution during the degumming process.
ZnS:Mn-glycine (ZnS:Mn-Gly) nanocomposites were synthesized by capping ZnS:Mn nanocomposites with glycine. Zinc sulfate heptahydrate ($ZnSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$), glycine ($C_2H_5NO_2$), manganese sulfate monohydrate ($MnSO_4{\cdot}H_2O$), and sodium sulfide ($Na_2S$) were used as the source reagents. $ZnS:Mn-Gly-C_{60}$ nanocomposites were obtained by heating the ZnS:Mn-Gly nanocomposites and fullerene ($C_{60}$) at a 2:1 mass ratio in an electric furnace at $700^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to characterize the crystal structure of the synthesized nanocomposites. The photocatalytic activity of the $ZnS:Mn-Gly-C_{60}$ nanocomposites was evaluated, via the degradation of brilliant green (BG) dye under 254 nm irradiation, with a UV-vis spectrophotometer.
Tyrosine is a monohydrolic aromatic amino acid and DOPA is a tyrosine derivative containing dihydroxy group. DOPA can be synthesized from tyrosine by enzymatic reaction. The separation and quantitative determination of each component are very difficult in the reaction mixture. In the present study, two wavelengths giving maximum absorbance difference of each amino acid were determined using UV/VIS spectrophotometer by wavelength scanning and simple assay method was developed for the analysis of the reaction mixture of tyrosine and DOPA by measuring absorbances of reaction mixture. This method can be simply used for the analysis of the tyrosine and DOPA mixture because it does not require and procedure for the pretreatment of the reaction mixture.

This study was carried out develope a ultrasonic transducer displacement generator through 26KHz and 38KHz of the frequency phase modulation on the ultrasonic transducer. This system was producted a power output generation such as 100W, 300W, 400W and 600W. Ultrasonic power output had a change of time. We made use of a Thiram hydration and detected it measurement by the ACAO method. It was to decide the result of ultrasonic power supply for time duration and the result of comparison in the 26KHz & 38KHz by UV/VIS spectrophotometer.
Chelated titanium alkoxides are hydrolysed showly and stable enough to prepare multicomponent gels of titania without its precipitation due to the fast hydrolysis of Ti alkoxide. The alkoxy groups of chelated titanium alkoxide are hydrolysed as fast as that of titanium alkoxide but the chelating groups are stable even in aqueous solution. The chelating groups showed different rates of hydrolysis in aqueous ammonia solution and water added one. Those rates were monitored with UV-VIS spectrophotometer by using their unique absorption bands before and after hydrolysis.

In this study, sensitizing dye was prepared by the reaction of 2-methyl-3-sulfopropyl-4, 5-naphthothiazolium(inner salt) with triethyl orthoformate in the presence of triethylamine. The product was identified by using various analytical tools such as Elemental analyzer, IR spectrophotometer, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, $^1H-NMR$ spectrometer, TGA and DSC. Therefore, it was concluded that naphthothiazolo carbocyanine dye can be used as red-sensitizing dye for the spectral sensitization of photographic emulsion.
