현존선에 자외선 평형수처리장치 설치로 인한 평형수 처리시간 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Difference in Ballasting Time Arising from the Installation of an Ultraviolet Ballast Water Management System on Existing Ships)

  • 본 연구는 기존 선박에 자외선 (UV) 평형수처리장치(BWMS)를 설치 한 경우, 수치 계산을 통해 평형수 처리시간의 증가를 정량적으로 조사하였다. 계산 결과 배수량 55,000톤 가스 운반선의 평형수 처리시간은 UV BWMS 미설치 및 유량 제어 기능 없이 2.152 시간이었다. 평형수 처리시간은 UV BWMS 설치 후 14.2 % 증가했으며, 유량 제어 기능까지 고려 시 20.4 % 증가했습니다. 실제 조건들을 고려하면 UV BWMS 설치 후 평형수 처리시간은 기존 평형수처리시간 대비 최소 30 % 정도 증가할 것으로 예상됩니다. 따라서 업계 관계자는 평형수 처리시간 증가로 인한 선박 운영 손실을 최소화하기 위하여 UV BWMS 선정시 본선의 실제 평형수펌프 용량과 UV BWMS의 유동 에너지 손실을 충분히 고려하는 것이 좋습니다. 또한 BWMS 설치 후 평형수 처리시간 증가를 최소화하기 위해서는 더 큰 용량의 BWMS, 더 큰 파이프 및 내부 코팅이 있는 파이프 등의 사용을 고려할 수 있습니다.

UV 및 UV/H2O2 시스템을 이용한 수중의 Tetracycline계 항생물질 제거 (Removal of Tetracycline Antibiotics Using UV and UV/H2O2 Systems in Water)

  • Seven tetracycline classes of antibiotics were treated using ultraviolet (UV) and $UV/H_2O_2$ oxidation. Two different UV lamps were used for the UV and $UV/H_2O_2$ oxidation. The performance of the UV oxidation was different depending on the lamp type. The medium pressure lamp showed better performance than the low pressure lamp. Combining the low pressure lamp with hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$) improved the removal performance substantially. The by-products formation of tetracycline by UV and $UV/H_2O_2$ were investigated. The protonated form ($[1+H]^+$) of tetracycline was m/z 445, reacted to yield almost exclusively two oxidation by-products by UV and $UV/H_2O_2$ oxidation. Their protonated forms of by-products were m/z 461 and m/z 477. The structures of tetracycline's by-products in UV and $UV/H_2O_2$ system were similar.

  • In the KOESWall system, non-woven geotextiles are placed at the face of reinforced earth until the facing blocks are built up. And when this system is used as temporary structure, geotextiles facings are exposed to sunlight during service lifetime. During these periods, degradation of nonwoven geotextiles are occurred by UV light. So the UV-resistance of nonwoven geotextiles must be assessed correctly, in considering of the site conditions. In this study, laboratory test and the field test have been performed to evaluate the UV resistance of non-woven geotextiles used in KOESWall system and the results are expressed in terms of tensile characteristics & SEM photographs.

균질계에서 얻은 셀룰로오스 유도체의 광이성질화 현상 연구 (Photoisomerization of Cellulose Derivatives Obtained from Homogeneous System)

  • Cellulose tosylate(CT) was prepared by reaction of cellulose with p- toluenesulfonylchloride in DMAc/LiCl homogeneous system. In order to study a reversible photoisomerization of disperse red 1(DR-1) attached on natural polymer, cellulose tosylate containing DR-1(DR-1/CT adduct) was prepared at $110^{\circ}C$ in DMAc, and the changes of UV/Vis spectra of its solutions and thick film were investigated by alternate irradiation technique. Form the UV/Vis spectra of DR-1/CT adduct dissolved in cosolvents, such as DMAc, DMAc/THF, DMAc/benzene, and DMAc/chloroform and irradiated with 360 nm and 450 nm ligths, we found out changes of UV/Vis spectra were reversible in all solvents systems and we found out changes of UV/Vis spectra were reversible at thick film, also.

  • We investigated sterilization characteristics of UV lights by counting the number of bacteria units with varying sterilization time and distance from the light source. We focused on an idea that UV light of 184.9 nm could generate ozone and developed a new sterilizer. The UV-ozone duplex system sterilized bacteria faster than UV-only sterilizers. To reduce shadowing effects by target objects, we used UV transparent quartz plate as a support and put a reflecting plate. Distribution of UV irradiation intensity and ozone supply were analyzed by a 3D model and measured by a semiconductor UV sensor. But even with an Al reflector, multi-layered pens could not be treated properly from UV irradiation only. Ozone generating lamp could treat more uniformly multi-layered pens with a stirring fan by supplying ozone to shadowed surfaces.

태양광/광촉매를 이용한 오폐수 살균특성 (Disinfection Characteristic of Sewage Wastewater Treatment Using Solar Light/TiO2 Film System)

  • Currently, the application of $TiO_2$ photocatalyst has been focused on purification and treatment of wastewater. However, the use of conventional $TiO_2$ slurry photocatalyst results in disadvantage of stirring during the reaction and of separation after the reaction. And the usage of artificial UV lamp has made the cost of photocatalyst treatment system high. Consequently, we studied that solar light/$TiO_2$ film system was designed and developed in order to examine disinfection characteristics of sewage wastewater treatment. The optimum conditions for disinfection such as solar light intensity, characteristic of sewage wastewater, amounts of $TiO_2$ and comparison of solar ligth/$TiO_2$ systems with UV light/$TiO_2$ system was examined. The results are as follows: (1) photocatalytic disinfection process with solar light in the presence of $TiO_2$ film more effectively killed total coliform (TC) than solar light or $TiO_2$ film absorption only. (2) The survival ratio of TC and residual ratio of organic material (BOD, CODcr) decreased with remain resistant material. (3) The survival ratio of TC and residual ratio of organic material (BOD, CODcr) decreased with the increase of amounts of $TiO_2$. (4) TC survival ratio decreased linearly with increasing UV light intensity. (5) The disinfection effect of solar light/$TiO_2$ slurry system decreased more than UV light/$TiO_2$ film systems. (6) The disinfection reaction followed first-order kinetics. We suggest that solar light instead of using artificial UV light was conducted to investigate the applicability of alternative energy source in the disinfection of TC and the degradation of organic material.

물 재이용을 위한 하수처리장 방류수 색도의 자외선처리에 미치는 과산화수소의 영향 (Effect of Hydrogen Peroxide on UV Treatment of Color in Secondary Effluent for Reclamation)

  • In the present study, a feasibility of an advanced oxidation process using UV/Hydrogen peroxide($H_2O_2$) system equipped with a medium pressure lamp for secondary effluent reclamation was investigated. Initial concentration of $H_2O_2$ and pH were changed to determine the optimum operation condition for the system. The removal efficiency of color was than 80% with 14.3mg/L of initial $H_2O_2$ and 5 minute of contact time in the UV/$H_2O_2$ system. The color removal was analyzed using first-order reaction equation. The dependence of rate constant (k) on initial $H_2O_2$ represented the rational relationship with maximum value. Residual $H_2O_2$ caused increase of effluent COD, since analyzing agent, dichromate, reacted with $H_2O_2$ in the sample. Therefore, excess initial concentration of $H_2O_2$ would significantly affect effluent COD measurement. At pH variation experiment, both residual $H_2O_2$ and color showed peak in the neutral pH range with the same pattern. Effect of $H_2O_2$ dose also enhanced color removal but raised residual $H_2O_2$ problem in the continuous operation UV system. In conclusion, these results indicated that medium pressure UV/$H_2O_2$ system could be used to control color in the secondary effluent for reclamation and reuse.
