In the fight against cancer, novel chemotherapeutic agents are constantly being sought to complement existing drugs. Various studies have presented evidence that the apoptosis that is induced by these anticancer agents is implicated in tumor regression, and Bcl-2 family genes play a part in apoptosis following treatment with various stimuli. Here, we present data that a styrylpyrone derivative (SPD) that is extracted from the plant Goniothalamus sp. showed cytotoxic effects on the human breast cancer cell line MCF-7. SPD significantly increased apoptosis in MCF-7 cells, as visualized by phase contrast microscopy and evaluated by the Tdt-mediated dUTP nick end-labeling assay and nuclear morphology. Western blotting and immunostaining revealed up-regulation of the proapoptotic Bax protein expression. SPD, however, did not affect the expression of the anti-apoptotic protein, Bcl-2. These results, therefore, suggest SPD as a potent cytotoxic agent on MCF-7 cells by inducing apoptosis through the modulation of Bax levels.

In order to expand cell coverage, increase system capacity, and offer various multimedia service with high throughput in indoor environment, WiBro Access Point(AP) is developed. Home AP is IFA/Omni type and has stack-up structure of channel card and RF board. SOHO AP is designed to support up to 2FA and has remote RF(RRF) structure using UTP method. Inter-operational test with mobile terminal were completed for 3 terminals using web browsing service simultaneously. The performance test results of WiBro AP are as follows: RCE(EVM) value is -34.431 dB for 64-QAM and throughput is up to 6.79 Mbps(DL) and 1.1 Mbps(UL) with 2.5m Line-of-Sight(LOS) condition.

2007년도 상반기부터 단독주택지역 가입자를 대상으로 FTTH 구축이 꾸준히 증가하고 있으며, 초고속 인터넷 서비스를 비롯한 고화질의 IP-TV등의 서비스제공이 상용화 단계에 있다. 단독주택지역의 FTTH의 구축은 향후에도 지속적으로 추진해 나갈 예정으로 있으며, 신축아파트 또한 정보통신건물 인증 정책 추진으로 초기의 건물 신축 당시부터 UTP케이블 및 광케이블의 구축이 보편화되는 추세이다. 반면에 건축된지 오래 경과된 기축아파트의 경우에는 여러 가지 건물 구조형태의 문제점과 열악한 구내통신시설 환경으로 FTTH를 구축하는데 많은 어려움이 있으며, 구축방법의 부재로 인하여 활발히 추진되지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 기축아파트를 대상으로 FTTH 구축을 효율적으로 하기 위한 방법에 대해 언급하였고, 아파트 구내통신설비를 세부 구간별로 분리하여 최적의 FTTH 구축을 할수 있는 방법에 대해서 논하였다.

Backgrounds: Intracerebral hemon-hage is one of the most devastating types of stroke. Ginseng radix, the root of Panax Ginseng, C. A. MEYER (Araliaceae), is one of the most famous medicinal herbs with various therapeutic applications. Objectives: In the present study, the effect of aqueous extract of Ginseng radix on intracerebral hemorrhage-induced neuronal cell death in rats was investigated. Materials and Methods: Step-down avoidance task, Nissl staining, immunohistochemistry for caspase-3 and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay were used for this study. Results: The present results show that hemorrhage-induced lesion volume and apoptotic neuronal cell death in the striatum were significantly suppressed by treatment with Ginseng radix, resulting in enhancement of short-ten-n memory. Conclusions: We have shown that Ginseng radix has a neuroprotective effect on stroke, and aids the recovery from central nervous system sequelae following stroke.

Objectives : Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is one of the most devastating types of stroke. The effect of acupuncture on the intrastriatal hemorrhage-induced neuronal cell death and cell proliferation in rats is examined. Methods : Cell death and cell proliferation in rats was investigated via terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay and immunohistochemistry for caspase-3 and 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine (BrdU). Results : Results showed that apoptotic cell death in the striatum and cell proliferation in the hippocampal dentate gyrus significantly increased following intrastriatal hemorrhage in rats, and that acupunctural treatment at the Zusanli acupoint suppressed the hemorrhage-induced increase in apoptosis in the striatum and cell proliferation in the dentate gyrus. Conclusions : It is suggested that acupunctural treatment, especially at the Zusanli acupoint, may aid recovery following central nervous system sequelae following ICH.

기존 동(copper)케이블을 이용한 초고속 서비스 xDSL 기술이 점차 고주파수 대역을 사용하게 되었다. 전송매개체인 동케이블은 동선의 굵기 및 길이에 따라 주파수별 특성이 달라지게 되어 동케이블의 특성을 이해하는 것은 단말장치의 개발 및 운용측면에 매우 중요하다. 본 논문은 초고속서비스를 제공하는데 기본이 되는 동케이블 중에서 시내선로와 구내선로로 사용되는 JFFS, CPEV, SH, UTP, TIV 케이블을 대상으로 $1MHz{\sim}30MHz$ 대역의 손실, 특성임피던스, 근단누화 등을 측정하고 결과를 분석하였다.

Several micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) are required as co-factors in DNA synthesis, DNA repair, DNA methylation and apoptosis. Some notable examples include (a) folic acid and vitamin B12 required for maintenance methylation of DNA and the synthesis of dTTP from dUTP, thus prevent the misincorporation of uracil into DNA, a highly mutagenic and chromosome-breaking event, (b) niacin, is essential in the form of the coenzymes NAD and NADP which act as a substrate for polyADPribose polymerase (PARP), an enzyme thought to facilitate efficient DNA repair and telomere length regulation and (c) zinc, apart from its antioxidant role as a co-factor in Cu/Zn SOD, it is required in its stabilizing role of the DNA-binding domain of p53 (residues 102-292) and thus is essential for apoptotic response to DNA damage. Existing premises telecommucation wiring ad been installed for efficient telephone service. But premises wiring is currently ready to be reused as media for wideband digital services and Fiber-to-the-curb architecture. Electrical properties of premises wiring link have not characateized above frequencies for voice service. Accurte measurement of these characteristics are exssential for studies fof wideband ditital transmission system. On the other hand, the transmission qualities of premises wiring have been known to be worst in telecommunications access networks. So the knowledge of premises wiring sturucture as well as electrical properties is needed to improve the performance of premises wiring. In this paper, the structure of premises wiring is described in detail and electrical characteristics (characteristic impedance, SRL, attnuation, NEXT) about premises cables and stelecommucations link of representative apartment complex sare measured and naalyzed ove r16MHz range which is UTP Cat3 bandwidth.

Japanese Encephalitis Virus(JEV) can be detected conveniently by the use of biotinylated cDNA probe. To prepare biotinylated probe aminoallyl dUTP was first synthesized chemically to reverse transcribe the virial RNA. The allylamine-labeled cDNA was then converted to the biotin-cDNA by the reaction with an activated biotin ester, NHS-ACA-biotin. The JEV genomic RNA was hybridized to the biotinylated cDNA probe on nitrocellulose filter and visualized colorimetrically by streptavidin complexes with alkaline phosphatase polymer. Sensitivity of the detection system was determined by estimating the amount of the JEV genomic RNA through comparison with signals generated from the biotinylated and $^{32/P}$ -labeled probes. It was found that the biotin probe was as sensitive as $^{32/P}$ -cDNA probe which can detect 50pgs of the target RNA.

In this paper, we designed, constructed and evaluated the system for the FTTH suited to a residence and apartment using CWDM-PON techniques. These systems have capacity to service at 100Mbps rate to 384 users in the same breath. Also, the services include the internet, CATV, IPTV and wireless LAN. In the case of wire network, the data could be transmitted by UTP cable and optical fiber and case of wireless one, the data transmitted using WLAN. The distance between the cental office and the user is 20km and the data rate is 100Mbps maximum. Of course, the optical network used just one fiber optical core. For the basic material, we obtained the characteristics of optical transceiver module, Mux/Demux and transmission qualities depends on the environment.
