  • According to the development of home-network, home-network middleware supporting interoperability between devices connecting to home-network has been variously Proposed. As a typical middleware, UPnP and Jini are developed individually. So, to extend the usage of home-network, it is necessary to have connections among various home-network middleware. In this paper, we study about home-network middleware UPnP and Jini, and design and implement UPnP-to-Jini service which allows Jini client to use UPnP device using the speciality of UPnP performance process. Using application of light on-off we implemented the connection of them.

  • The Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) specification permits networked devices to discover each other and to provide diverse services in the home network environment. Recently, new paradigms such as mobile connected computing, cloud-based service delivery, smart device content sharing, and Internet of Things (IoT) have emerged, but the home network based UPnP shows functional limitations in supporting such paradigms. To support them, the UPnP Forum has recently extended the capabilities of the existing UPnP, calling it UPnP+. In this paper, the UPnP Device Architecture V2.0 (UDA 2.0), which forms the basis of UPnP+, is presented. We present how UDA 2.0 enables the expansion of the home network to wide-area networks and non-IP device domains.

  • The control of electrical appliances residing in the home network can be accomplished via Internet with the UPnP expansion without modifying an existing UPnP. In this paper, we propose the Internet Gateway that consists of an UPnP IGD(Internet Gateway Device) DCP(Device Control Protocol) and an UPnP Bridge as a system to control electrical appliances of home network. UPnP IGD DCP is to enable the configurable initiation and sharing of Internet connections as well as assuring advanced connection-management features and management of host configuration service. It also supports transparent Internet access by non-UPnP-certified devices. UPnP Bridge searches for local home network devices by sending control messages, while control point of UPnP Bridge looks up devices of interest on the Internet, subsequently furnishing the inter-networking controlling among devices which belong to different home network systems. With our approach, devices on one home network can control home electrical appliances on the other hone network via Internet through IGD DCP with control commands of UPnP.

  • 홈 네트워크의 보급과 P2P 기반의 커뮤니티가 활성화되는 추세로 미루어 볼 때 가까운 장래에 사용자들은 홈 네트워크에 기반한 커뮤니티를 형성하길 원할 것으로 예측되며, 이를 지원하기 위해 표준에 근간한 접근 방법이 제시되어야 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 홈 네트워킹을 위한 대표적인 프로토콜인 UPRP 에 기반하여 홈 네트워크간의 콘텐츠 공유를 지원하는 방안을 모색한다. UPnP포럼에서 정의하는 표준 기능에 UPnP프로토콜의 특성을 이용한 RelayModule을 구현하고 추가함으로 UPnP에 기반한 홈 네트워크 사이의 연결을 지원하고 더 나아가 디지털 콘텐츠 공유를 지원한다.

  • UPnP Protocol is protocol for home networking that extends PnP to IP based network. It is able to remote control, transfer video and audio. However, It is only used simple devices.   • 본 논문은 홈 네트워크 상에서 존재 가능한 PC와 디지털 가전 기기(devices) 및 무선 기기들을 피어-투-피어(peer-to-Peer) 방식으로 네트워크의 연결성을 배어들게(pervasive) 하는 역할을 수행할 수 있는 UPnP(Universal Plug and Play. 이하 UPnP)의 구조를 분석하고 UPnP의 정의된 기능을 테스트하는 툴에 대한 연구로서, UPnP Device Architecture v1.0 표준 스팩(specification)에 따라 구현된 UPnP 미들웨어를 자동으로 테스트할 수 있도록 하는 방법과 UPnP테스트 툴의 구조를 제안한다.

  • In this paper, UPnP Network SaaS model has been studied. Currently, this model of UPnP Network and the trade mission is being used by outsourcing. From now on, the introduction of new trading systems and existing systems and the commercialization of this model as a UPnP network service connection should work. The future of UPnP network SaaS model will become commercially available software, commercial software can be accessed remotely via the Internet should be. Customer site activities must be managed from a central location. Application software architecture, pricing, partnerships, management should not include the character models. N should be the model. When used in small and medium enterprises have a very high value.

  • This paper presents an architecture of UPnP Bridge for interconnecting Non-lP devices with heterogeneous network interfaces to UPnP devices on UPnP networks. The proposed UPnP Bridge provides a Virtual UPnP device that performs generic UPnP Device's functionalities on behalf of Non-lP device. This paper defines 3 types of descriptions, Device Description, Message Field Description, and Extended UPnP Service Description in order to reduce the amount of effort required to connect a non-lP device with a new interface or message format to UPnP network. By these three types of descriptions and Message conversion module, developers for Non-lP devices can easily connect the devices to UPnP network without additional programming. So UPnP control point controls Non-lP devices as generic UPnP device. Some experiments validate the proposed architecture, which are performed on a test bed consisting of UPnP network the proposed bridge, and non-lP devices with CAN and RS232 interfaces.

  • This paper proposes the construction of intelligent home network system using Power Line Communication(PLC) technique, which allows for UPnP bridge remote control and monitoring based on TCP/IP. Also, the communication for control module inside intelligent home network systems is designed with Simple Control Protocol (SCP) in which each device is connected to be controlled independently. When new UPnP device is additionally installed in intelligent home network systems, it is monitored through UPnP bridges based on its registered UPnP device information. The device control based on PLC and implementation of each UPnP device are effectively managed by using TCP/IP remote control and it's provided fundamental functions to monitor various device information in the home network.

  • UPnP presents home network middleware for local home electrical appliances basedon internet protocols that is available access and control electrical appliances just in local home network. Itis designed to bring easy-to-use, flexible, standards-based connectivity to ad-hoc or unmanaged networks in the home, a small business, public spaces, or attached to the Internet. In this paper, Internet Gateway expands UPnP IGD(Internet Gateway Device) DCP(Device Control protocol) and UPnP IGP Bridge for Internet Home Network Electrical Appliance Control. UPnP IGD DCP is configurable initiation and sharing of internet connections, advanced connection-management features, management of host configuration service, and supports transparent Internet access by non-UPnP-certified devices. UPnP Bridge search for local home network devices by sending control messages. Control Point of UPnP Bridge search for devices of interest on the network and can control or be controlled all of functions by IGD DCP with control commands. Outside client, approach to UPnP IGD DCP, send control messages UPnP Bridge, and invoke each UPnP device. As a result, Electrical Appliance of Home Network base on UPnP, can control and be controlled via the Internet like ones in the one Home Network without modification of existing UPnP.
