A Study on the Enhancement of Flatness for the Metal Sheet with Curvature (곡률을 가진 판재의 편평도 개선을 위한 인자 연구)

  • The focus of this study is on the enhancement of flatness for the shielded slot plate, one of main components of the MCFC stack. The shielded slot plate is to get curvature during manufacturing process since it is produced by forming operation from only one side of it. Therefore, a correction die is proposed to place just after the main die to apply unbending on the curved plate to get almost flat product. In the design for the correction die, four kinds of design factors are selected to study which factor is the most influencing one affecting the flatness of the plate. From the experimental results using Taguchi method, it has been revealed that the Young's modulus of urethane die is the most critical factor.

Development of MR Compatible Coaxial-slot Antenna for Microwave Hyperthermia (초고주파 가열치료를 위한 MR 호환 동축 슬롯 안테나의 개발)

  • MR compatible coaxial-slot antenna for microwave hyperthermia was developed while its structure and size of each part were determined by computer simulation using finite element method(FEM). Its local heating performance was evaluated using tissue-mimic phantom and swine muscles. 2% agarose gel mixed with 6mM/$\ell$ $MnCl_2$ as a biological tissue-mimic phantom was heated by the proposed antenna driven by a 2.45GHz microwave generator. The temperature changes of the phantom were monitored using multi-channel digital thermometer at the distance of 0mm, 5mm, 10mm and 20mm from the tip center of the antenna. Also muscle tissue of swine was heated for 2 and 5minutes with 50W and 30W of microwave generator powers, respectively, to evaluate the local heating performance of the antenna. MRI compatibility was also verified by acquiring MR images and MR temperature map. MR signals were acquired from the agarose gel phantom using $T2^*$ GRE sequence with 1.5T clinical MRI scanner(Signa Echospeed, GE, Milwaukee, WI, U.S.A.) at Pusan Paik Hospital and were transferred to PC in order to reconstruct MR images and temperature map using proton resonance frequency(PRF) method and laboratory-developed phase unwrapping algorithm. Authors found that it has no severe distortion due to the antenna inserted into the phantom. Finally, we can conclude that the suggested coaxial-slot antenna has an excellent local heating performance for both of tissue-mimic phantom and swine muscle, and it is compatible to 1.5T MRI scanner.

  • This paper represents the comparison of harmonic loss characteristics of the inverter-driven 3-phase squirrel cage induction motor with slit and U-iron bridge slots of rotor. Two-dimensional time-stepped finite element method is used for electromagenetic field analysis. And spectrums of bar current, phase current, and torque are compared in each case.

  • This paper presents a broadband compact microstrip antenna design with four U slots on the ground plane by using of genetic algorithm. FDTD method is used as fitness function for antenna analysis, and length of rectangular patch, length of ground plane slot, distance from center point to feed point is used as optimization parameter for maximum bandwidth and minimum size. The measurement result of implemented antenna present 10 dB bandwidth of 15.63 % and peak gain of 3.61 dBi in the 2.445 GHz, and antenna has a reduced patch size of 54.8 % compare with normal microstrip antenna.

  • The Noise generation mechanisms of propane laminar premixed flames on a slot burner have been studied experimentally. The sound levels and frequencies were measured for various mixture flow rates (velocities) and equivalence ratios. The primary frequency of self-induced noise increases with the mean velocity of mixture as $f{\;}{\propto}{\;}U_f^{1.144}$ and the measured noise level increases with the mixture flow rate and equivalence ratio as $p{\;}{\propto}{\;}U_f^{1.7}$$F^{8.2}$. The nature of flame oscillation and the noise generation mechanisms are also investigated using a high speed CCD camera and a DSRL camera. The repetition of sudden extinction at the tip of flame is evident and the repetition rates are identical to the primary frequencies obtained from the FFT analysis of sound pressure signals. CH chemiluminescence intensities of the oscillating flames were also measured by PMT with a 431 nm(10 FWHM) band pass filter and compared to the pressure signals.

Influence of abutment height and convergence angle on the retrievability of cement-retained implant prostheses with a lingual slot

  • PURPOSE. Cement-retained implant prostheses can lack proper retrievability during repair, and residual cement can cause peri-implantitis. The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the influence of abutment height and convergence angle on the retrievability of cement-retained implant prostheses with lingual slots, known as retrievable cement-type slots (RCS). MATERIALS AND METHODS. We fabricated six types of titanium abutments (10 of each type) with two different heights (4 mm and 6 mm), three different convergence angles ($8^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$, and $12^{\circ}$), a sloped shoulder margin (0.6 mm depth), a rectangular shape ($6mm{\times}6.5mm$) with rounded edges, and a rectangular ledge ($2mm{\times}1mm$) for the RCS. One monolithic zirconia crown was fabricated for each abutment using a dental computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing system. The abutments and crowns were permanently cemented together with dual-curing resin cement, followed by 24 hours in demineralized water at room temperature. Using a custom-made device with a slot driver and torque gauge, we recorded the torque ($N{\cdot}cm$) required to remove the crowns. Statistical analysis was conducted using multiple regression analysis and Mann-Whitney U tests (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. Removal torques significantly decreased as convergence angles increased. Multiple regression analysis showed no significant interaction between the abutment height and the convergence angle (Durbin-Watson ratio: 2.186). CONCLUSION. Within the limitations of this in vitro study, we suggest that the retrievability of cement-retained implant prostheses with RCS can be maintained by adjusting the abutment height and convergence angle, even when they are permanently cemented together.

  • An experimental investigation on heat transfer characteristics of two-dimensional heated blocks using a confined impinging slot jet has been performed. The effect of jet Reynolds number(Re=3900, 5800, 9700), streamwise block spacing(p/w=0.5, 1, 1.5) and dimensionless nozzle to block distance(H/B=1, 2, 4, 6) have been examined with five isothermally heated blocks. With the measurement of jet mean velocity and turbulence intensity distributions at nozzle exit, initially turbulent regimes, are classified. To clarify local heat transfer characteristics, naphthalene sublimation technique as used. The maximum Nusselt number at the stagnation point for the jet Reynolds number is occurred at H/B=4. Besides, the local and a average heat transfer of heated blocks increase with decreasing streamwise block spacing and increasing jet Reynolds number.

Design and Implementation of UWB Antenna with Band Rejection Characteristics (대역저지 특성을 갖는 초광대역 안테나 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, we designed and implemented an ultra wideband(UWB) antenna with band rejection characteristics. The proposed antenna consists of a planar radiation patch with slots and ground planes on both sides. Due to the slots in the radiation patch, the antenna shows band rejection characteristics. U-type slot contributes for wireless local area network(WLAN, 5.15~5.825 GHz) band rejection and n-type slot contributes for X-Band(7.25~8.395 GHz) band rejection. To make voltage standing wave ratio(VSWR) less than 2.0 for UWB frequency band except rejection bands, the shapes of planar radiation patch and ground plane was modified. The Ansoft 's high frequency structure simulator(HFSS) was used for the design process and simulations of the proposed antenna. The simulated antenna showed VSWR less than 2.0 for all UWB band excepts for dual rejection bands of 5.15 ~ 5.94 GHz and 7.02 ~ 8.45 GHz. And measured VSWR for the implemented antenna is less than 2.0 for all UWB band of 3.10~10.60 GHz excluding dual rejection bands of 5.12~5.95 GHz and 7.20~8.58 GHz.

Quadruple Band-Notched Trapezoid UWB Antenna with Reduced Gains in Notch Bands

  • A compact ultra-wide band antenna with a quadruple band-notched characteristic is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a slotted trapezoid patch radiator, an inverted U-shaped band stop filter, a pair of C-shaped band stop filters, and a rectangular ground plane. To realize the quadruple notch-band characteristic, a U-shaped slot, a complementary split ring resonator, an inverted U-shaped band stop filter, and two C-shaped band stop filters are utilized in this antenna. The antenna satisfies the -10 dB reflection coefficient bandwidth requirement in the frequency band of 2.88-12.67 GHz, with a band-rejection characteristic in the WiMAX (3.43-3.85 GHz), WLAN (5.26-6.01 GHz), X-band satellite communication (7.05-7.68 GHz), and ITU 8 GHz (8.08-8.87 GHz) signal bands. In addition, the proposed antenna has a compact volume of $30mm{\times}33.5mm{\times}0.8mm$ while maintaining omnidirectional patterns in the H-plane. The experimental and simulated results of the proposed antenna are shown to be in good agreement.

Effect of internal gap on retentivity in implant fixed prosthesis with lingual slot (설측 슬롯을 부여한 임플란트 고정성 보철물에서 내면 간격이 유지력에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: Recently, a method of forming a slot in the prosthesis lingual has been introduced to solve the occlusal and aesthetic disadvantages of screw-retained prosthesis in the manufacture of implant-fixed prosthesis and to ensure retrievability in cement retained prostheses. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the internal gap on the removal of the prosthesis in the preparation of cement-retained implant prostheses with lingual slots. Materials and methods: Titanium abutment and internal gap of the zirconia prosthesis to be attached to the upper part were set to 30, 35, and $50{\mu}m$, respectively. Three for each type total 15 were produced for each type. The zirconia prosthesis formed a retrievable cement-type slot with a space of 1 mm at the location where the titanium abutment meets the shelf area. Autocatalytic resin cement was used for bonding of abutment and zirconia prosthesis, and the maximum removal stress value was measured in units of Ncm by using the customized equipment of the cemented specimen. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to compare the three groups by statistical analysis (${\alpha}=.05$), modified by post hoc test the Mann-Whitney U-test and the Bonferroni correction method were used to compare the two methods (${\alpha}=.017$). Results: There was no statistically significant difference in removal stress between the $30{\mu}m$ group and the $35{\mu}m$ group in the internal gap (P = .032), and there was a significant difference between the $30{\mu}m$ group and the $50{\mu}m$ group, between the $35{\mu}m$ group and the $50{\mu}m$ group (P < .017). Conclusion: Thus, the internal gap of computer-aided design affected the retention between the zirconia prosthesis and the titanium abutment.
