  • The Cretaceous Yucheon Group is volcano-sedimentary successions that are formed by volcanic activities of the Gyeongsang Volcanic Arc. Lack of the detailed field researches on the Yucheon Group results in poor understanding of the formation time and the tempo-spatial development of the volcanic arc. Also, this causes difficulties to reconstruct the depositional history from the Sindong and Hayang groups to the Yucheon Group. In this study, we conducted field research targeting to the interface between topmost part of the Hayang Group and the lowermost part of the Yucheon Group from Hyeonpoong to Bugok areas. We also identified depositional timing of the lowermost part of the Yucheon Group using SHRIMP U-Pb zircon age dating. This Yucheon Group is composed of tuff and lapilli tuff, conformably overlying the Jindong Formation. The results of SHRIMP U-Pb zircon age are 97 to 96 Ma, indicating cessation of deposition of the Hayang Group at 97 to 96 Ma by input of pyroclastic materials into the Jinju Subbasin during the explosive volcanic eruptions from the Gyeongsang Volcanic Arc. In comparison with field researches and results of LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb age dating (88-85 Ma) of the lowermost part of the Yucheon Group in Gyeongju areas, the volcanic activities that formed Yucheon Group and their influence ranges varied tempo-spatially. This is probably due to distance difference from the volcanic arc or establishment of the paleo-drainage system from the Gyeongsang Volcanic Arc to nearby lowlands.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare the microshear bond strength (uSBS) of two totaletch and four self-etch adhesive systems and a flowable resin to enamel. Materials and Methods: Enamels of sixty human molars were used. They were divided into one of six equal groups (n = 10) by adhesives used; OS group (One-Step Plus), SB group (Single Bond), CE group (Clearfil SE Bond), TY group (Tyrian SPE/One-Step Plus), AP group (Adper Prompt L-Pop) and GB group (G-Bond). After enamel surfaces were treated with six adhesive systems, a flowable composite resin (Filek Z 350) was bonded to enamel surface using Tygon tubes. the bonded specimens were subjected to uSBS testing and the failure modes of each group were observed under FE-SEM. Results: 1. The uSBS of SB group was statistically higher than that of all other groups, and the uSBS of OS, SE and AP group was statistically higher than that of TY and GB group (p < 0.05). 2. The uSBS for TY group was statistically higher than that for GB group (p < 0.05). 3. Adhesive failures in TY and GB group and mixed failures in SB group and SE group were often analysed. One cohesive failure was observed in OS, SB, SE and AP group, respectively. Conclusions: Although adhesives using the same step were applied the enamel surface, the uSBS of a flowable resin to enamel was different.

  • Objectives Osteoporosis is an impending problem in the rapidly aging society. The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of Yoohyangheukho-dan ($R{\check{u}}xi{\bar{a}}ngh{\bar{e}}ih{\check{u}}-d{\bar{a}}n$) on osteoporosis induced by ovariectomy in rats. Methods 24 rats were randomly assigned to a SHAM group, a control group, and a Yoohyangheukho-dan ($R{\check{u}}xi{\bar{a}}ngh{\bar{e}}ih{\check{u}}-d{\bar{a}}n$) group (n=8). Ovaries were extracted and for 8 weeks, the rats were given dry feeds and Yoohyangheukho-dan ($R{\check{u}}xi{\bar{a}}ngh{\bar{e}}ih{\check{u}}-d{\bar{a}}n$) group were given a mixture of dry feeds and Yoohyangheukho-dan ($R{\check{u}}xi{\bar{a}}ngh{\bar{e}}ih{\check{u}}-d{\bar{a}}n$). At 8 weeks, their body weight, femur mass, tibia ash per body ratio, overall surface area and thickness of the trabeculae, overall surface area of the osteoblasts, and the number of osteoclasts were measured and levels of albumin, aspartate transaminase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), total-cholesterol, calcium and estradiol were recorded. Results There was no significant difference in the weight of the femur and the tibia ash per body ratio. The Yoohyangheukho-dan ($R{\check{u}}xi{\bar{a}}ngh{\bar{e}}ih{\check{u}}-d{\bar{a}}n$) group had significantly thicker trabeculae than the control group and showed a minimal increase of overall surface area of the trabeculae. The overall surface area of the osteoblasts and the number of osteoclasts decreased in the Yoohyangheukho-dan ($R{\check{u}}xi{\bar{a}}ngh{\bar{e}}ih{\check{u}}-d{\bar{a}}n$) group. There were no statistically significant differences in AST, ALT, ALP, total cholesterol, phosphorus, and estradiol levels. On the contrary the Yoohyangheukho-dan ($R{\check{u}}xi{\bar{a}}ngh{\bar{e}}ih{\check{u}}-d{\bar{a}}n$) group had significantly higher levels of Albumin, triglyceride, and calcium. Conclusions It can be concluded that oral intake of Yoohyangheukho-dan ($R{\check{u}}xi{\bar{a}}ngh{\bar{e}}ih{\check{u}}-d{\bar{a}}n$) prevents the thinning process of the trabeculae. Thus, it may have positive effects on the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.

  • In this paper, we use U-Mart that is an agent-based artificial market model. U-Mart is more open than the other artificial market, because In U-Mart, not only computer program agents, but also human agents are able to participate in the market. Therefore, the market in U-Mart gets closer to the real markets and the agents that participate in the market make the complex decision. Moreover we expand to the number of brand to plural. This expansion causes to appear the several strategies to make a profit. As one of this example, we treat the portfolio and confirm the possibility of getting the constancy to make portfolio.

Concentration of plasma low density lipoprotein(LDL)-cholesterol showed a Significant decrement in the 300 mg/kg in Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) groups than that of control group. Concentration of plasma high density lipoprotein(HDL)-cholesterol showed a significant increment in the 300 mg/kg in Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) group. 3. Concentration of liver total cholesterol showed a tendence to decrease in Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) groups. Concentration of liver TG showed a significant decrement in all Ojeoksangamibang groups than that of control group. 4. Concentration of plasma and liver thiobarbituric acid reactive substance(TBARS) showed a tendence to decrease in Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) groups. 5. The values of glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase(CAT) activity showed a significant increment in all Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) groups than that of control group. 6. The values of plasma aspartate aminotransferase(AST) and alanine aminotransferase(ALT) activity showed no significant different in all treatment group. 7. Concentration of plasma $interleukin(IL)-1{beta}$ showed no significant difference in all the treatment groups. Concentration of plasma IL-6 showed a significant decrement in the 300 mg/kg in Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) group than that of control group. However the concentration of plasma IL-10 in the 300 mg/kg Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) groups showed a significant increment than that of control group. 9. In the analysis of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR), gene expression of $TNF-{\alpha}$, Apo-B and Apo-E in the Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) groups showed a lower expression than that of control group. However the gene expression of leptin showed no difference in the treatment groups. 10. The ratio of $TNF-{\alpha}$, Apo-B, and Apo-E per ${\beta}-actin$ expression in the Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) groups showed a significant decrement than that of control group. However The ratio of leptin expression per ${\beta}-actin$ expression showed no significant difference among all the treatment groups. Conclusions: According to above results, in lowering lipid effect, anti-oxidation and control of pro-inflammatory cytokines production, Ojeoksangamibang($W{\check{u}}j\bar{i}s\check{a}nji\bar{a}w\grave{e}if\bar{a}ng$) gives effect.

  • Background: Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) has emerged as a valuable biomarker of urinary tract infection (UTI) in children. Purpose: This study aimed to compare the diagnostic accuracy of urinary NGAL (uNGAL) with those of serum C-reactive protein (CRP) and white blood cell (WBC) count for predicting UTI and acute pyelonephritis (APN) in febrile children. Methods: The medical charts of children undergoing uNGAL measurements between November 2017 and August 2019 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients with a suspected or diagnosed UTIs were included. The diagnostic accuracies of uNGAL, serum CRP, and WBC count for detecting UTI and APN were investigated. Independent predictors of UTI and APN were investigated using multivariable logistic regression analyses. Results: A total of 321 children were enrolled in this study. The uNGAL levels were higher in the UTI group (n=157) than in the non-UTI group (n=164) (P<0.05). Among children with a UTI, uNGAL levels were higher in the APN group (n=70) than, the non-APN group (n=87) (P<0.05). In the multivariate analysis, uNGAL was independently associated with UTI and APN (both P<0.05). Serum CRP and WBC count were not correlated with the presence of UTI and APN. Receiver operating curve analyses showed that the uNGAL level had the highest area under the curve (AUC) for predicting UTI and APN, respectively (AUC, uNGAL vs. CRP vs. WBC count, 0.860 vs. 0.608 vs. 0.669 for UTI; 0.780 vs. 0.680 vs. 0.639 for APN, all P<0.05, respectively). The predictive values and likelihood ratios of uNGAL were superior to those of serum CRP and WBC count for detecting UTI and APN at each cutoff level. Conclusion: UNGAL may be more useful than serum CRP and WBC count for identifying and assessing UTI in febrile children.
