  • CWSII method was developed to overcome the problems of frequent occurrence in the application of existing downward construction methods, especially in the case of using slurry wall instead of SCW or CIP as a retaining wall. By the improvements in connecting steel beams with the wall, CWSII method is able to ensure the settlement of a steel beam and the diaphragm effect of a slab while reducing the degree of difficulty and the term of works and the cost of construction. As the desired results, CWS method can be applied as a practical downward construction method regardless of the type of retaining wall. In this paper, besides the concept and features of CWSII method, it can be seen that the method can provide reliable and economical performances by comparing with existing methods.

  • Organic molecular-beam deposition of Mg:Ag thin films with a low Mg concentration on tris (8-hydroxyquinolino) aluminum $(Alq_3)$ layers at room temperature was performed to investigate the feasibility of using Mg:Ag thin films as cathode electrodes in organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs). The effective barrier height of the $Mg:Ag/Alq_3$ heterointerface, determined from current-voltage measurements, was as low as 0.23 eV. These results help improve understanding the electrical properties of the $Mg:Ag/Alq_3$ heterointerfaces in OLEDs.

  • Road is typically constructed along ridge area of mountain because of topographical and economic reasons. Therefore, road may face lots of open cut slope which can easily cause rock falling. This study evaluates the structural safety of newly developed falling rock protection system which has a roof deck plate. The structural performance under self-weight, snow load and load from failing rock was investigated using a finite element numerical analysis method. From the analysis results, the H-beam space was limited not to exceed 2.2m. The deck plate was also safe under the examined loading condition. A hinge and connection in the system were investigated through detailed modelling and analysis. The results showed that the hinge was safe enough and that the connection should strengthened with appropriate stiffeners.

  • We design a multi-element photo-detector to measure the size of particles using the diffracted light energy distribution. The light energy that is scattered by particles in the collimated laser beam is collected by the Fourier transform lens and directed to the multi-semicircular concentric annular detecters. The scattered profile measured by the photodetector is sampled by a 32 channel analog-to-digital converter. A nonnegative least squares analysis translates the light energy distribution into the corresponding unique particle size distribution.

  • In this paper, the vibration of a rotating shaft with a thin rigid disk is considered. It is assumed that the shaft has uniform, circular cross-section. Based on the Timoshenko-beam theory, the transverse displacements and slops in two lateral directions, the axial displacement, and the torsional deformation are considered. A spectral element model is developed by using the variation method for the vibration analysis of the rotating shaft with a thin rigid disk, which is modeled by two shaft elements and a thin rigid disk element. The result of vibration analysis by finite element method is compared to the result of this research.

  • It is generally known that RC flexural members strengthened by GFRP(Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymers) tend to be failed by premature bond failure near the flexural-shear cracks happened at the mid-span of beams. It is therefore strongly recommended that premature bond failure must be avoided to insure the intended strengthening effects sufficiently. The various methodologies such as increasing bonded length of GFRP and bonding details including U-shape wrappings and epoxy shear-keys are examined in this study. The bonded length of GFRP are calculated based on the assumed bond strengths of epoxy saturating resin. Total six half scale RC beam specimens were constructed and tested to investigate the effectiveness of each methodologies to prevent the bond failure of GFRP. Test results of each specimens are discussed in this paper.

  • The current study targets to estimate the contribution of the end-anchored FRP composites in resisting shear force using a soft computing tool i.e., adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). A total of 107 sets of data accumulated from literature was utilized for the development and evaluation of the current ANFIS model. A comparative analysis between the ANFIS predictions and the acquired experimental results has shown that the ANFIS predictions are in very good agreement with that of experimental ones. Additionally, the accuracy of the current ANFIS model has been weighed up against the estimates of nine widely adopted design guidelines. Based on various statistical parameters, it has been deduced that the effectiveness of the current ANFIS model is better than the considered design guidelines. Besides this, a parametric study was carried out to explore the combined effect of different parameters as well as the impact of individual parameters.

  • In this study, we have investigated the micromachining of PZT to fabricate interdigitated electrodes of electro active material actuator using Nd:YAG laser We have observed groove shapes of PZT with changing beam power, scanning speed, gas, and so on to find optimum conditions of the laser processing for PZT grooves. As a result, this method has been applied to the laser micromachining for grooves in PZT surface, and we could have optimum parameters of Nd:YAG laser Finally it was shown that the laser micromachining of PZT can substitute fer bonding, etching and deposition processes in fabricating electro active material actuator embedded with interdigitated electrodes.

  • F First I will introduce our works how to improve the crystal growth t technique for Rare earth pnictides and chalcogenides. All these substances h have hi양1 vapor pressure and high melting print up to 3$\alpha$)()C. 까len we employ m the tungsten or molybden crucibles and enclose the sample by 빼e welding of m the lid with high current electron beam. We cannot elevate the temperature up t to 3$\alpha$)()C without suitable radiation shield because rate of radiation loss r rapidly increase in such a high temperature regions. There were no good r radiation shield but we discovered that the p-BN could work as an excellent r radiation shield after checking of the many substances. S Secondly I will show several interesting and unusual 뻐ysical properties of obtained crystals under high magnetic field, hi양1 pressure and also i including angle resolve photoemission spectroscopy. I will stress the p properties of the low carrier concentration with strong correlation on C댐, U USb and Yb4As3

  • This study aimed to evaluate the low temperature properties of the 18Cr ferritic stainless steel weld. Applied welding methods were LB(Laser Beam) and GTA(Gas Tungsten Arc) welding to compare the different low temperature properties of the welds. Low temperature properties were evaluated by the Charpy impact, Erichsen and Expansion test at low temperature. LB weld showed superior low temperature properties in the cases of the Charpy impact test and expansion test at low temperature, while GTA weld showed a superior low temperature property in the case of Erichsen test at low temperature. The different low temperature properties with test methods are still under analysis and may be due to different crack path depending on the microstructure, test speed and stress concentration during test.
