인체보호용 헬멧의 구조 및 기술 (Structure and Technology of Personal Protection Helmets)

  • The helmet is an imperative personal protective equipment. This protective device must be able to guard the human head against potential risks. Helmets are classified according into the purpose of use; therefore, the required performance and specifications depend on the type of products. Military helmets are intended to protect the wearer's head from bullets and shrapnel. Generally, lightweight super fibers and fiber reinforced composite materials are used as helmet shell materials, and NIJ STD of U.S. Department of Justice is most widely used as international standard related to bulletproof helmets. Safety helmets are widely used for industrial application and sports leisure. In general, the performance of shock absorption must be ensured, and various lining systems are applied in material, design, and combination methods. Evaluation standards have also been classified and strictly controlled for each purpose; therefore, it is difficult to certify with the existing standards such as the recently developed convergence helmets. However, it is possible to launch the product through a separate national integrated certification procedure.

A study on the traceability and uncertainty of skin hydration measurement on the sole of the foot

  • Objectives: In order to accurately measure skin moisture and accumulate normal skin moisture data, analyzing the uncertainty of the skin moisture measurement and establishing standard reference data is essential. It helps to evaluate the skin's condition and has great significance in diagnosis and treatment. In this study, the traceability of the equipment and the uncertainty of the results were analyzed for their potential use in the field of Korean medicine. The data was collected measuring skin moisture on the sole of the foot. Methods: One professional measured the moisture of the adult male's foot 10 times following a determined protocol. The standard uncertainty of repeated measurements was calculated from the mean value of 10 repeated measurements. Ten trainee participants also measured the adult male's foot following a determined protocol. The standard uncertainty by tester was calculated from the value of repeated measurements. Results: As a result of analyzing the difference between the mean and standard uncertainties in both the expert and trainees, it was confirmed that the variance in this study did not satisfy the normal distribution. In addition, the Mann-Whitney U-test was carried out, and it was found that there was no significant difference in the measured values of the two groups. The authorized uncertainty of measurements and traceability of all the equipment was not confirmed. Conclusions: This paper establishes the basis for later measurement-equipment research to provide the objective indicators to approach the dryness of plantar skin from dehydration, the Korean medicine perspective.

Systems Engineering Approach to develop the FPGA based Cyber Security Equipment for Nuclear Power Plant

  • In this work, a hardware based cryptographic module for the cyber security of nuclear power plant is developed using a system engineering approach. Nuclear power plants are isolated from the Internet, but as shown in the case of Iran, Man-in-the-middle attacks (MITM) could be a threat to the safety of the nuclear facilities. This FPGA-based module does not have an operating system and it provides protection as a firewall and mitigates the cyber threats. The encryption equipment consists of an encryption module, a decryption module, and interfaces for communication between modules and systems. The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)-128, which is formally approved as top level by U.S. National Security Agency for cryptographic algorithms, is adopted. The development of the cyber security module is implemented in two main phases: reverse engineering and re-engineering. In the reverse engineering phase, the cyber security plan and system requirements are analyzed, and the AES algorithm is decomposed into functional units. In the re-engineering phase, we model the logical architecture using Vitech CORE9 software and simulate it with the Enhanced Functional Flow Block Diagram (EFFBD), which confirms the performance improvements of the hardware-based cryptographic module as compared to software based cryptography. Following this, the Hardware description language (HDL) code is developed and tested to verify the integrity of the code. Then, the developed code is implemented on the FPGA and connected to the personal computer through Recommended Standard (RS)-232 communication to perform validation of the developed component. For the future work, the developed FPGA based encryption equipment will be verified and validated in its expected operating environment by connecting it to the Advanced power reactor (APR)-1400 simulator.

Downlink Signal Measurement Algorithm for WCDMA/HSPA/HSPA+

  • Wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA), high speed packet access (HSPA) and HSPA+ are third generation partnership project (3GPP) standards. These systems are the major wireless communication standards. In order to test the performance of WCDMA/HSPA/HSPA+ signal in a base station, the measurement hardware is required to the evaluation of the transmitted signals. In this paper, the algorithm for the performance measurement of the WCDMA/HSPA/HSPA+ is proposed. Also, the performance of the measurement algorithm is used to evaluate the generated signal by the WCDMA/HSPA/HSPA+ signal generator. Generally, the algorithm of normal modems cannot be applied to the measurement system because the signal measurement equipment needs to guarantee the high accuracy. So, the WCDMA/HSPA/HSPA+ signal measurement algorithm for the accurate measurement is proposed. By the simulation, it is confirmed that the proposed measurement algorithm has good performance compared with the specification. Therefore, the proposed algorithm can be usefully applied to verify the performance of the measurement using the simulation.

A practical modification to coaxial cables as damage sensor with TDR in obscured structural members and RC piles

  • Obscured structural members are mostly under-evaluated during condition assessment due to lack of visual inspection capability. Insufficient information about the integrity of these structural members poses a significant risk for public safety. Time domain reflectometry (TDR) is a novel approach in structural health monitoring (SHM). Ordinary coaxial cables "as is" without a major modification are not suitable for SHM with TDR. The objective of this study is to propose a practical and cost-effective modification approach to commercially available coaxial cables in order to use them as a "cable sensor" for damage detection with the TDR equipment for obscured structural members. The experimental validation and assessment of the proposed modification approach was achieved by conducting 3-point bending tests of the model piles as a representative obscured structural member. It can be noted that the RG59/U-6 and RG6/U-4 cable sensors expose higher strain sensitivity in comparison with non-modified "as is" versions of the cables used. As a result, the cable sensors have the capability of sensing both the presence and the location of a structural damage with a maximum aberration of 3 cm. Furthermore, the crack development can be monitored by the RG59/U-6 cable sensor with a simple calibration.

스마트폰의 CMOS 영상센서를 이용한 광용적맥파 측정방법 개발 (Development of a Photoplethysmographic method using a CMOS image sensor for Smartphone)

  • 맥파는 심전도와 같이 자율신경계를 통해 생리적 반응을 측정하는 신호이지만, 손가락에 센서 하나만 부착시키면 되기 때문에 상대적으로 신호의 측정이 간편하다는 장점을 가지고 있어 u-Healthcare 분야에서의 활용이 용이하다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 스마트폰 카메라의 CMOS 영상 센서를 활용하여 맥파를 비침습적으로 측정하는 방법 중의 하나인 광용적맥파를 획득하고 이로부터 스트레스 여부를 판단하는 휴대형 시스템을 개발하여 u-Healthcare 분야에서의 활용 가능성을 확인하는 것이다. 이를 위해 광용적맥파를 별도의 센서에 의한 측정이 아닌 스마트폰 카메라에서 획득되는 영상 데이터를 활용하여 광용적맥파를 획득한 후 분석하였다. 또한 확보된 광용적맥파 영상신호 데이터를 이용하여 심박변이도와 스트레스 지수를 별도의 호스트 장비 없이 스마트폰만을 이용해 사용자에게 제공 하였다. 또한 부가적으로 스마트폰에 부착가능한 별도의 하드웨어 디바이스를 개발함으로써 획득된 데이터의 신뢰도 및 정확성을 향상시켰다. 실험결과를 통해 스마트폰의 카메라 영상을 활용하여 광용적맥파 신호를 통한 심박수 측정과 스트레스의 정도를 분석하기 위한 스트레스 지수 추출이 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서는 상용화된 제품 또는 정형화된 센서가 아닌 스마트폰의 카메라를 이용하기 때문에 상용화된 외부 센서에 의한 광용적맥파 신호보다는 해상도가 떨어지는 단점이 있음에도 불구하고 결과 데이터의 신뢰도 향상을 위한 별도의 추가외부 장치 개발 및 여러 가지 최적화 알고리즘을 통해 신뢰성 있는 데이터를 확보할 수 있어 u-Healthcare 장비로써의 활용 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다.

사용후핵연료봉 slitting 장치 성능 평가 (Capacity evaluation on the slitting device of the spent fuel rod)

  • The spent fuel slitting device is an equipment developed for the separation of the pellet and hull from the cutting fuel rod with length of 250 mm, and in order to feed UO$_2$ pellet. We have analyzed on the existing technologies for designing and producing of the slitting device in the first year(2001), based on these results, designed and produced the rod slitting device. It has effectively separated the pellet from the hull, but demanded the supplement separation work because of the mixing with pellet and hull in the vessel, and required the condition for the reducing time of the process. In the second year(2002), we have reduced the work time, performed the test and capacity evaluation with the improving device, based these results, and ensured the data demanded for designing of the spent fuel rod slitting device. We have compared with the DUPIC(Direct use of spent PWR fuel in CAND reactors) process, and developed the device for the purpose of reducing over 40 % in comparition with the DUPIC operation time(5 minutes). Based on these results, it will is effectively applied to available data for designing and producing of the hot test facility.

  • This paper deals with the development of three phase 440[V], 500[KVA] Inverter system using the IGBT Devices. IGBT's have been used very successfully in variable frequency induction motor drive equipment. Problems associated with power devices characteristics when power devices are operated in parallel, such as balanced switching behavior and thermal stability, can be solved by using NPT type IGBT's. By Experimental results, it is confirmed that the voltage overshoot and reverse recovery current was very low. The equipment had proved to be reliable and short circuit proof. In addition, the performances in term of thermal characteristics, protection functions and stability are satisfactory.

시간 연속성을 고려한 딥러닝 기반 레이더 강우예측 (Radar rainfall prediction based on deep learning considering temporal consistency)

  • 본 연구에서는 시계열 순서의 의미가 희석될 수 있는 기존의 U-net 기반 딥러닝 강우예측 모델의 성능을 개선하고자 하였다. 이를 위해서 데이터의 연속성을 고려한 ConvLSTM2D U-Net 신경망 구조를 갖는 모델을 적용하고, RainNet 모델 및 외삽 기반의 이류모델을 이용하여 예측정확도 개선 정도를 평가하였다. 또한 신경망 기반 모델 학습과정에서의 불확실성을 개선하기 위해 단일 모델뿐만 아니라 10개의 앙상블 모델로 학습을 수행하였다. 학습된 신경망 강우예측모델은 현재를 기준으로 과거 30분 전까지의 연속된 4개의 자료를 이용하여 10분 선행 예측자료를 생성하는데 최적화되었다. 최적화된 딥러닝 강우예측모델을 이용하여 강우예측을 수행한 결과, ConvLSTM2D U-Net을 사용하였을 때 예측 오차의 크기가 가장 작고, 강우 이동 위치를 상대적으로 정확히 구현하였다. 특히, 앙상블 ConvLSTM2D U-Net이 타 예측모델에 비해 높은 CSI와 낮은 MAE를 보이며, 상대적으로 정확하게 강우를 예측하였으며, 좁은 오차범위로 안정적인 예측성능을 보여주었다. 다만, 특정 지점만을 대상으로 한 예측성능은 전체 강우 영역에 대한 예측성능에 비해 낮게 나타나, 상세한 영역의 강우예측에 대한 딥러닝 강우예측모델의 한계도 확인하였다. 본 연구를 통해 시간의 변화를 고려하기 위한 ConvLSTM2D U-Net 신경망 구조가 예측정확도를 높일 수 있었으나, 여전히 강한 강우영역이나 상세한 강우예측에는 공간 평활로 인한 합성곱 신경망 모델의 한계가 있음을 확인하였다.

한국 제조업 사업체의 체화 기술진보율 추정 (Estimation of Embodied Technological Progress in Korean Manufacturing)

  • 본 연구에서는 우리나라의 광공업통계자료를 이용하여 1985~2003년 기간을 대상으로 개별 공장 수준의 미시자료를 구축한 후 Sakellaris and Wilson(2004)의 분석방식을 차용하여 우리나라 제조업체의 체화 기술진보율(embodied technological change)을 추정하고, 이를 미국을 중심으로 한 기존의 선행 연구 결과와 비교해 보았다. 분석 결과에 따르면, 우리나라 제조업의 체화 기술진보율은 분석기간 중 연평균 13.7% 수준으로서 Sakellaris and Wilson(2004)이 추정한 미국의 제조업 추정치인 16.9%에 비해 다소 낮은 수준인 것으로 나타났다. 기간별로는 외환위기 이후 기간의 체화 기술진보율이 이전 기간에 비해 대폭 상승한 것으로 추정되었다. 한편, 기업특성별로는 외환위기 이후의 기간을 중심으로 IT산업이 비IT산업에 비해, 그리고 IT 고이용 산업이 저이용 산업에 비해 상대적으로 체화 기술진보율이 높은 것으로 파악되었다. 이와 같은 결과는 최근 설비투자의 전반적인 둔화세가 지속되고 있는 가운데, 설비투자의 구성 면에서 정보통신부문을 중심으로 질적 향상이 진행되어 왔음을 시사한다.
