This study investigated medical students' perceptions of good jobs. We classified medical students' perceptions of good jobs and analyzed the characteristics of each type. The Q methodology was used to extract medical students' subjective thoughts. After extracting statements based on previous studies, 46 Q samples were selected. The P sample consisted of 40 medical students divided evenly by gender and grade. They performed a Q sort of the 46 Q sample questionnaire and the results were analyzed using the QUANL ver. 1.2 program. Very few consensus statements were found in the replies. We divided answers into four types, each of which was clearly distinguished: (1) quality of life-oriented jobs, (2) reward-oriented jobs, (3) service-oriented jobs, and (4) self-realization-oriented jobs. Medical students in type 1 prioritized quality of life equally at work and at home. Medical students in type 2 preferred high-paying jobs. Medical students in type 3 placed importance on serving others. Finally, medical students in type 4 viewed good jobs as involving learning and development. The types of jobs sought were classified according to individual students' values and subjectivity. Medical schools may use the results of this study as a basis for career guidance.

The purpose of this study was to explore characteristics of sixth grade students' opistemological beliefs in science and the relationship to learner's characteristics: learning motivation, learning strategies, and logical thinking. The subjects were 265 sixth graders and data was collected through two types of questionnaires, translated and modified by researchers: opistemological beliefs regarding science, learning motivation & strategies. The results of this study were as follows. The students believed that the goals of science were related to activations such as 'Science is experiment', or 'Science is invention: These beliefs were connected with the emphasis of science classes or the focus of the science curriculum. However, the students' beliefs related to the changeability of science knowledge, the source of science knowledge, and the role of experiments in developing knowledge were oriented to modern opistemological views. Moreover, the beliefs were meaningfully related to students' characteristics: learning motivation, learning strategies, and logical thinking. Among the students' characteristics, logical thinking was especially related to all of the factors of students' beliefs: the changeability of science knowledge, the source of science knowledge, and the role of experiments in developing knowledge. However, the students who believed that scientific knowledge came from scientists, science teachers, or science textbooks had high levels of self-efficacy. Therefore, the belief that scientific knowledge is formed by self-discovery, in order to generate high self-efficacy, needs to be encouraged. From the results, it is possible to check the orientation of current science education based on the students' opistemological beliefs. In addition, the resources can be accumulated for persevering in our efforts to achieve a positive orientation for science education.
The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships between the concept of heat and that of temperature for elementary students. Eight multiple choice type questions with explanation of reasons for selection were developed based on previous researches and the analysis of science curriculum for elementary students. The students of 9, 10, 11 years(n=292) were selected from two elementary schools in Taegu City. The responses of students' multiple choice and their explanations were analysed in each items χ² test used for the relationships between types of heat and temperature conceptions Half of elementary student could discriminate the two terms of heat and temperature, majority of them thought that heat is likely to be hot and temperature is the quantity of heat, which is not based on scientific conception. Elementary students thinkings about heat could be classified with material type of heat and molecular kinematics type. Material type of heat were more popular than with molecular kinematics type, although the latter is increased. Majority of students answered correctly in qualitative questions of mixing of hot and cold water, but about only one third of them answers in quantitative questions. Subtraction of cold temperature from hot temperature was the most popular explanation, even though one-quarter of students summed up the two temperature in quantitative situation of mixing hot and cold waters. Those who thought heat as the molecular kinetic responded more correctly in most difficult questions than those who as the material. Therefore, we concluded that the types of heat conceptions affected the concept formation of temperature.
