The present study is the first to consider both talent types and the appearance affect perception on the clothing consumption values correlates to appearance management behaviour. As a results, the talent type of 367 respondents was mean=3.324. The highest talent of 367 respondents was interpersonal talent, the lowest talent was logical-mathematical talent among 8 talent types. The effects of 8 talent types on 5 clothing consumption values were significant on the regression analysis, specifically the results showed that the effects of linguistic, musical, interpersonal and intrapersonal talents among 8 talent factors on the clothing consumption value were significant. Regression results showed that if the practical and the inner-directed appearance affect perception factors among 3 appearance affect perception factors increase by one standard deviation, the social, political, aesthetic, and emotional clothing consumption values increase by each standardized efficient ${\beta}$. The effects of 8 demographic factors on 5 clothing consumption values were significant on the regression analysis, specially, occupation, monthly clothing allowance, income, and sex variables were significant, the results revealed that if the occupation factor(specialist and administrator) increases by one standard deviation, the social, political, aesthetic, and emotional clothing consumption values increase by each standardized efficient ${\beta}$. Finally, this study suggests that the 3 independent variables(talent types, appearance affect perception factors, and demographic factors) were predictors related to clothing consumption values. The higher the score, it was concluded that the independent variables were more active in clothing consumption behaviour.
The purpose of this study was to classify the consumption values of 20's and 30's female consumers, identify the differences among the consumption value groups, and analyze purchase behaviors of imported fashion luxury brands according to the consumption value types. The subjects were 518 women who purchased luxury bags. The results of the study were as follows. First, as a result of cluster analysis to classify the consumption values of 20's and 30's female consumers, 4 groups were identified as "rare and emotional pursuit group", "functional pursuit group", "fashion pursuit group", and "social and conspicuous pursuit group". Second, 4 groups showed different luxury bag purchase behaviors, such as purchase motivation, purchase selection criteria, information source, purchase frequency, purchase cost of one time, purchase cost of year, the number of possession, purchase place, and store selection criteria. Third, rare and emotional pursuit group ranked the first in terms of product, price, and store satisfaction. Therefore, consumption values were identified as the important factor suggesting purchase behaviors of female consumers in 20's and 30's.
This qualitative case study examined the experience of middle-aged homemakers with buying and wearing clothes. Clothing benefits and clothing purchase types were observed in the homemakers' daily clothing-related behavior. This study aims to understand clothing consumption values in light of clothing benefits and to determine purchasing methods, purchasing mental states, and personal characteristics according to the clothing purchase types of middle-aged homemakers. The participants of this study were four full-time homemakers and four homemakers with a job outside the home, all in middle age. This study was conducted through in-depth interviews based on an unstructured questionnaire, and the data were collected from January 2010 to October 2010. The results were as follows: first, the clothing benefits were identified as a social stereotype, aesthetic taste, economy, wearing situation, and age perception. The most important clothing consumption values to the middle-aged homemakers based on the observed clothing benefits were, in order: social value, emotional value, epistemic value, functional value, and conditional value. Second, the type of clothing purchase was observed to be planned buying, followed by impulse buying, and compensatory buying. Even when a homemaker planned to shop regularly, when they were exposed to an attractive retailer promotion, they seized on the opportunity on impulse or made a compensatory purchase to divert oneself. Even though homemakers prefer primarily impulse buying, when they went shopping for clothing with their mother-in-law or husband, they made planned purchase also.
This study was to investigate the value changes in Korean women by analyzing the ads of womens magazines. The contents of ads were classified into two types of values: general and consumption values. The general values, composed of inner-directedness and outer-directrdness, might predict consumer behavior in general. The consumption values, utilitarians and hedonic, were expected to affect the consumer purchasing attitude to a specific product. Factors affecting the cultural values were per capita income and womens social status. Total 2969 illustrated ads with verbal theme from 32 Korean womens magazines were used. The content analysis, chi-square test, logistic regression were done for the analysis. The results showed that inner-directedness was dominant general value in Korean womens culture and increased over time. Younger consumers were more inner-directed than older ones were, and inner-directed values increased with income growth. For the consumption values, utilitarian values were higher than hedonic ones and went up over time. For the product types, utilitarian ads were frequent in cosmetics while hedonic ads were high for apparels. Those results implied that Korean womens culture became more inner-directed with increased income. Also consumption values were likely to differ between product groups. Per capita income was shown to increase inner-directedness while womens social status was to increase outer-directedness.

Five types of art appreciation included fine art exhibition(including photographs, architects, calligraphy works), classical and opera performance, traditional Korean music performance, drama and musical performance, dance performance. The sample for this study consisted of 422 university students of five universities in Seoul. The data were collected using the structured questionnaires. The statistical methods used for the analysis were descriptive statistics, chi-square, factor analysis, and cluster analysis. The major findings are as follows. 1. The result of factors for consumption values of students emerged four factors. These were called as 'materialism', 'honor centered', 'family centered', 'hedonism' value. 2. The cluster analysis was conducted based on these four factors. The result showed 3 groups of consumption value which were called as 'material' honor value group', 'family value group', 'hedonic value group'. 3. The consumption value of university students did not significantly differ according to their demographic variables. 4. The behavior of art appreciation of university students significantly differed by their demographic characteristics and consumption value. The material' honor valued group showed the least chances to make decisions on art appreciation for one's own, which reflected that this group appreciate art to satisfy their honors rather than to enjoy art itself. They also showed the most chances to consider the renownedness of the art work or artists among three groups. And they showed the least chances to pay for the tickets for art appreciation, all of those meant that they appreciate arts unvoluntarily in situational condition. The family valued group showed the most chances to pay for the tickets when they appreciate arts. And therefore they were most susceptible for the prices. The hedonic valued group showed the most interests in art. They decided to appreciate art for their own, and they considered the contents and the highness in the level of the art the most when they appreciate art. And they show the most intention of participation in drama/musical performances, which reflect their interests in hedonic values. Based on these results of this study concluded that the consumption values of university students affected their behavior of art appreciation. Thus, university students' behavior on art appreciation can be effectively developed by education according to their consumption values.

The purpose of this study was to classify male consumers and examine their clothing consumption values and the perceived importance of store attributes. Using Internet-based research service, survey data were collected from 651 male consumers aged between 20 and 40. The questionnaire included questions regarding respondents' preference of different store types, clothing consumption values, perceived importance of store attributes. According to the results, the respondents were categorized into 5 distinct groups based on their store type preferences: discount store preference group, multi-channel preference group, store indifferent group, brand store preference group, online store preference group. Multi-channel preference group was the largest among these groups. The five store type preference groups statistically varied in clothing consumption values, i.e., epistemic value, brand/conspicuous value, and economic value. The groups also differed in the importance they placed in the store attributes of: service and product quality, promotion, fashionability, salesperson and store environment, store atmosphere, convenience, and website image. This study introduces an effective marketing strategy for fashion SMEs and small designer brands utilizing Instagram as a social networking platform. The research compared the impact of two information delivery types (native advertisements vs. live streaming after native ads) and two types of promotional messages (scarcity vs. price discount) on SNS consumption value, and product attitude toward fashion designer brands. The study involved surveying 251 Korean women aged 25-55 with experience in buying designer products and using SNS. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 26.0 and Process Macro v3.5. Results indicated that both native advertisements and live streaming enhance economic and social values in SNS consumption. Live streaming with price discount messages generates higher perceived SNS consumption values compared to scarcity messages. Consumers showed a more favorable attitude toward designer brand products when watching the live streaming of price discount messages rather than scarcity messages. The findings emphasize that the broadcast host actively induced participation to reveal viewers' social presence through comments or emphasized discount messages such as ultra-special prices during live streaming on Instagram.
This study details the history and characteristics of consumption values, text style analyses, and appeal types expressed in magazine commercials from 1955 to 2008. This study analyzes the level of the social structure of commercial expression for each period. Consumption values based on the categories of consumption values by Sheth (1991) were classified through a total commercials analysis. Analyses on closing types of sentences, types of sentences, and rhetorical figures were executed focusing on headline text and text style. Appealing types were composed of rational, emotional, and ethical appeals. For analysis, the crosstab analysis and chi-square test of SPSS are used. The results are as follow. Seven values were constructed, functional value, social value, emotional value, conditional value, epistemic value, fashionable value, and indistinct value. The ratio of emotional value was the highest and functional value, epistemic value conditional value, fashionable value, social value, and indistinct value followed. The emotional value social value, conditional value, fashionable value, and epistemic value that focused on the emotion of consumers increased, while the functional value decreased. Sentences that use narrative styles, hyperboles, and metaphors that increased the interest of readers were dominantly used in the headline texts. For sentence expression, a declarative sentence in a sentence type, exciting curiosity in the expression method where hyperbole and figures of speech in rhetorical expressions are used most often. Emotional appeal was used almost twice more than the reasonable appeal for appeal types of the total commercial. The lower level of reasonable appeal is information that provides the product function. Interest and expression (such as pleasure and achievement) were used most often for emotional appeal. These results show that the most important issue is the emotional value in consumption in understanding the consumer. Marketing managers should also be aware of the functional value as well as an emotional value.
