군 경계 및 감시로봇 운용개념 연구 (A Study on Operational Concept of Military Guard and Surveillance Robots)

  • In this paper, we propose operational concepts and technology requirements for guard and surveillance robots in military field. After surveying on current trend of guard robots, we present an operational scenario and technology requirements. To begin with, we discriminate the use of fixed type guard robots(fixed robots) and mobile guard and surveillance robots(mobile robots). Fixed robots are used for substituting daily guard by human soldier. In contrast, mobile robots are used for compensating shadow area where not to be covered by fixed type robots. To be specific, mobile robots adopt communication relays to extend operational range and sensor networks to collecting information. In addition, we present technology requirements composed of wireless communication system, platform, sensor nodes, unmanned driving technology, power supply system and IFF etc. In conclusion, in order to maximize co-operational functionality, fixed robots and mobile robots should be tightly related.

구리원석광산에서의 Elemental Carbon (EC) 노출에 관한 사례연구 (A Case Study of Exposure to Elemental Carbon (EC) in an Underground Copper Ore Mine)

  • Exposure to Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM) potentially causes adverse health effects (e.g. respiratory symptoms, lung cancer). Due to a lack of data on Elemental Carbon (EC) exposure levels in underground copper ore mining (unlike other underground mining industries such as non-metallic and coal mining), this case study aims to provide individual miners' EC exposure levels, and information on their work practices including use of personal protective equipment. EC measurement was carried out during different work activities (i.e. drilling, driving a loader, plant fitting, plant operation, driving a Specialized Mining Vehicle (SMV)) as per NIOSH Method 5040. The copper miners were working 10 h/day and 5 days/week. This study found that the most significant exposures to EC were reported from driving a loader (range $0.02-0.42mg/m^3$). Even though there were control systems (i.e. water tanks and DPM filters) on the diesel vehicles, around 49.5% of the results were over the adjusted recommendable exposure limit ($0.078mg/m^3$). This was probably due to: (1) driver's frequently getting in and out of the diesel vehicles and opening the windows of the diesel vehicles, and (2) inappropriate maintenance of the diesel vehicles and the DPM control systems. The use of the P2 type respirator provided was less than 19.2%. However, there was no significant difference between the day shift results and the night shift results. In order to prevent or minimize exposure to EC in the copper ore mine, it is recommended that the miners are educated in the need to wear the appropriate respirator provided during their work shifts, and to maintain the diesel engine and emission control systems on a regular basis. Consideration should be given to a specific examination of the diesel vehicles' air-conditioning filters and the air ventilation system to control excessive airborne contaminants in the underground copper mine.

InGaN/Sapphire LED에서 기판 제거 유무와 칩 마운트 타입이 광출력 특성에 미치는 영향 (Analysis of the Effect of the Substrate Removal and Chip-Mount Type on Light Output Characteristics in InGaN/Sapphire LEDs)

  • InGaN/Sapphire LED에서 기판 제거와 패키지 방식이 광출력 특성에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. Sapphire 기판의 제거는 반도체 접합에서 발생된 열의 방출에 도움이 되지만, 반대로 광추출효율이 손상되는 문제점이 수반된다. Sapphire 기판이 제거된 칩을 열전도율이 좋은 금속의 마운트 위에 부착하면, 최대 구동전류는 현저히 증가하고 광출력도 상당히 증가됨으로써, 광추출효율이 손상되는 문제점이 어느 정도 보상된다. 하지만, sapphire 기판이 제거된 칩을 상대적으로 열전도율이 낮은 유전체의 마운트 위에 부착하는 경우에는, 거의 모든 입력전류 범위에서 sapphire 기판이 남아 있는 일반형 칩보다 낮은 광출력을 나타낸다. 따라서, 작은 광출력이 요구되는 응용분야에서는 사용된 칩 마운트의 종류에 무관하게, 일반형 칩이 sapphire 기판이 제거된 칩 보다 유리한 것으로 분석된다.

인덕턴스형 미소 변위 측정 시스템과 응답 특성의 분석 (An Inductive Micro Position Sensign System and Analysis of its Response Characteristics)

  • This paper presents a mew design of an inductive position sensing system with high sensitivity. The designed system consists of the driving coils, position-detecting coils, and closed loop formed magnetic blocks. To obtain high sensitivity we design a symmetric and closed loop type measuring system with small air-gaps. The elements that affect the system characteristics are turn ratio, excitation frequency, air-gap size, capacitance effect, and load resistance. By experimental investigation, the influences of these elements are examined and the system parameters are selected. The sensitivity of the newly designed system is greater than 2800mV/(V mm) and the linearity error is below${\pm}0.01%; in; the; range; of; {\pm}200{\mu}m$.

Flow Analysis in Positive Displacement Micro-Hydro Turbine and Development of Low Pulsation Turbine

  • In order to extract micro hydropower in the very low specific speed range, a Positive Displacement Turbine (PDT) was proposed and steady performance was determined experimentally. However, the suppression of large pressure pulsation is inevitable for practical application of PDT. The objective of the present study is to reveal the mechanism and the characteristics of pressure pulsation in PDT by use of CFD and to suppress the pressure pulsation. Unsteady CFD analysis has revealed that large pressure pulsation is caused by large variation of rotational speed of the following rotor, while the driving rotor, which is output rotor, keeps constant speed. Here is newly proposed a 4-lobe helical type rotor which can reduce the pressure pulsation drastically and the performance prediction of new PDT is determined.

  • For the purpose of a cost effective design of practical subsonic/supersonic ejector systems, an experiment was carried out using a superheated steam as a primary driving flow. The superheated steam jet was produced by several different kinds of subsonic and supersonic nozzles. The secondary flow of atmospheric air inside a plenum chamber was drawn into the primary steam jet. The vacuum performance of the plenum chamber was investigated for a wide range of the ejector operation pressure ratio. The result showed that the static pressure of the mixed flow at the ejector throat is only a function of the ejector operation pressure ratio, regardless of the primary nezzle type employed.

  • This paper is aimed to develop the circuit of a coil-type oil sensor packaged to the automotive engine oil monitoring the deterioration in the driving condition and let a driver notify the optimized time for the exchange of engine oil. By applying the principle which the deterioration of automotive engine oil can be expressed to the dielectric constant, the capacitance bridge circuit and the integrator circuit are designed and packaged to a coil-typed engine oil. In this study. the range of operating temperature of engine oil is experimentally recommended within 55$^{\circ}C$ for the stability of a sensor designed. It is concluded that the characteristics of output voltage converted from the dielectric constant are linearly distributed.

  • Recently, owing to environmental problems and instability of rare earth resources market, non-rare earth electric motors are attracting attention. As a non-rare earth motor type, a wound rotor synchronous motor(WRSM) has high power density and wide driving range further it can reduce loss by field current control during field weakening control at high speed. However, since the d-axis flux of the WRSM is coupled with the rotor circuit, the fluctuation in the d-axis flux linkage affects the rotor circuit, which causes ripple of the field current and torque. In this paper, we propose the field current ripple compensation method by injecting the feedforward voltage. the proposed compensating method was demonstrated by simulation and experiments.

Design of a Propagation Wave Type Microrobot for Moving on the Slippery Surface

  • Animal-like robots are serving an important role as a linkage between biology and engineering. So, in this paper, we aim to develop a biomimetic microrobot that mimics the locomotion mechanism of a gastropod. This microrobot has 3 DOF (x, y translation and rotation), and has small size, unlimited traveling range, high resolution and low cost. Its movement can be made using propagation wave that is generated by the controllable sinusoidal voltage source and piezoelectric effects. This soft motion that can be generated by propagation wave and piezoelectric mechanism would be useful for the motion on the slippery surface. So we modeled the propagation wave mechanism including piezoelectric effect and friction on the contact surface, and could know the velocity of the microrobot is dependent on the driving frequency, input voltage peak, propagation wavelength and surface friction coefficient. With these results we design the microrobot, and accomplish its fabrication and experimentation. The development of this microrobot shall be aimed to design an autonomous moving actuator like animal. Also it can be used from micromanipulation system technology to biology and medicine.
