Consumer's Attitudes Toward Jeans Wear Advertisements by Appeal Type (소구 유형별 Jean 의류광고에 대한 소비자 태도-성적.비성적 소구유형을 중심으로)

  • The present study was made to contribute to thed improvement of the quality of jeans wear advertising, and to the establishment of more effective advertising policy by which the jeans wear advertisements can go well with the unique charateristics of jeans wear. The study analyzed the consumer's attitude and dimention of affective responses toward jeans wear advertisements by type of appeal. The research was implemented through the survery with a representative sample of 344 consumers residing in Seoul. Means, Standard Deviation, ANOVA, Duncan Test, Facor Analysis and Regression were imployed to analyze the data gathered. The results of the study are as follows : (1) There are four dimentions of affective responses toward jeans wear advertisements ; upbeat-activation dimention, erotic-activation dimention, calm-emotional dimention, negative emotional demention. (2) According to consumer's sex, there are significant differences in each dimention of their affective responses. Toward sex-appeal advertisements, men show high degree of affective responses in upbeat-activation dimen-sion and calm-emotional dimension. (3) There is a probability that non-sex-appeal advertisement covers wider range of consumer than sex-appeal advertisements. (4) There is no significant different in affective responses towards both sex-appeal and non-sex-appeal advertisement of jeans wear between and among sex·age and involvement level of consumer. (5) Men prefer sex-appeal advertisement to non-sex-appeal advertisement, while there is no significant differences between the attitude of female consumers toward sex-appeal adver-tisement and non-sex-appeal advertisement. (6) In particular, age of 15∼18 and 30∼35 group of female consumer show very positive attitude toward sex-appeal advertisement. Therefore, there is a need to segment female jeans wear market by age groups. (7) According to the age and the involvement level of consumers, there is a significant differences in their attitudes toward advertise-ment. In case of male consumers, group of low level involvement prefer sex-appeal advertise-ment to non-sex-appeal advertisement. While high level involvement group did not show any significant differences between the attitude toward sex-appeal advertisement and the attitude toward non-sex-appeal advertisement. And the age of 15∼24, low level involvement group of female consumers also more positive attitude toward sex-appeal advertisement than toward non-sex-appeal advertisements.

  • Personal health and environment is being aimed recently to show increase in preferences of eco-friendly cosmetics with longing of clean nature, and environment on pure plant ingredients. This study has the purpose of inquiring components and types of magazine advertisement in eco-friendly cosmetics and to analyze the model characteristics. The standards of analysis were classified as product, face, background, article, arrangement of colors, image, and eco-friendly factors. The results of this study are as follow. First, in inquiring the general characteristics of the magazine advertisement in eco-friendly cosmetics, the results were shown as the order of attention on product, face, background, article, arrangement of colors, image and eco-friendly factors. Second, in inquiring the components and types of magazine advertisement in eco-friendly cosmetics, the results showed an attentive difference in product, face, background, article, arrangement of colors and eco-friendly factors. Third, in inquiring relationships of model characteristics between domestic and foreign eco-friendly cosmetics, the results showed lots of domestic cosmetics advertising direct advertising, product type emerged was a lot of character type emerged. International cosmetics advertising, indirect advertising and highlighting the many articles that appeared prominently type is characterized.

Effect of Sex Appeal Advertising (섹스어필 광고의 효과)

  • Study on how a visual image of sex-appealing advertisement is meaningfully functioned and how customers recognize it is necessary but preceding studies about it are not sufficient. Therefore, this study analyzed effect of advertisement and its reaction according types of visual expression in sex-appealing advertisement and also, it found effective expression type of sex-appealing advertisement. As the result, according to appealing types of eroticism and pornograph, attitude on advertizement and intention of purchase showed difference and according to expressing types, there was difference in attitude on advertisement, attitude on brand, and intention of purchase. But there was not interactive effect between appealing type and expressing type. Such results implied that in using eroticism advertisement strategy, white and black color had higher expressing effect than natural color, to raise effect of brand, artistic sense and eroticism strategy were needed, and to raise intention of purchase, naked expression of pornograph was more effective.

Design of Digital Broadcasting Data Service showing Supplementary Information of each Type of ID Advertisement (ID 광고의 유형별 부가정보를 보여주는 디지털방송 데이터서비스 설계)

  • The advertisement market is an industry that is heavily influenced by media changes. As the digital broadcasting has settled, TV, a typical advertisement medium, has evolved from a passive content consuming medium into a platform for operating various data services as well as broadcasting programs. These changes mean that viewers are able to actively consume TV contents including advertisement, so the broadcasting industry needs to consider about the growth strategies that link the advertisement market with data services. This study designed a digital broadcasting data service that provides supplementary information of ID advertisement with short exposure time (less than 10 seconds) and insufficient space (less than 1/4 of TV screen). Specifically, we designed the user scenario and user interface of the data service, defined representative types of ID advertisement and the supplementary information for each type, developed a method, based on the international digital broadcasting standard DVB, for providing the supplementary information to the data service.

An advertisement method using inaudible sound of speaker

  • Recently, there are serviced user customized advertisement of various type using smart device. Representative services are advertisement service using light of smart TV screen or audible sound of smart TV to transmit advertisement information. However, those services have to do a specific action of smart device user for advertisement information or need audible audio information of TV contents. To overcome those weakness, therefore, we propose an advertisement method using inaudible sound of speaker based on smart device. This method supports the transfer of advertising content to the smart device user with no additional action or TV audio signal required to access that content. The proposed method used two high frequencies among 18kHz ~ 22kHz of audible frequency range which smart TV can send out. And it generates those frequencies synthesized with audio of TV contents as trigger signal which can send advertisements to smart device. Next, smart device analysis the trigger signal and request advertisement contents related to the signal to server. After then, smart device can show the downloaded contents to user. Because the proposed method uses the high frequencies of sound signals via the inner speaker of the smart device, its main advantage is that it does not affect the audio signal of TV content. To evaluate the efficacy of the proposed method, we developed an application to implement it and subsequently carried out an advertisement transmission experiment. The success rate of the transmission experiment was approximately 97%. Based on this result, we believe the proposed method will be a useful technique in introducing a customized user advertising service.

A Study on Advertisement Design of Men's Fashion Products (남성패션제품 광고디자인에 대한 연구)

  • The present study analyzed the differences of advertisement design, expression method, and appeal types in the men's fashion product advertisement from men's magazines between 1996 and 2006, according to the year, season, and the type of the magazine. The magazines chosen for the analysis were Korean Esquire, GQ, and Shin-dong-a. 2058 advertisement out of 88 sample magazines were chosen and analyzed by frequency, and chi-square using SPSS statistic package. The results of the study were as follows. First of all, there were more advertisements without copy, and even when the copy was used, it was used as a headline only. Secondly the poster style layout was used more frequently than other layouts, and one male model wearing the product was the most popular. Thirdly the types of appeal in advertisement, sensuous appeal was most frequently used. The results of the study showed that there is little advertisement differentiation in men's fashion product advertisement. Therefore in order to draw consumer's attention. various and unique advertisement design should be implemented.

Why SNS Sites Are Using Advertising Models Like You: An Explanation from Construal-Level Theory

  • Based on the Construal Level Theory, we aim to study a most favorable fit among the advertising model, media type, and message construals, which are important factors in an advertisement. A two (social distance of the ad model in an ad: distal (low similarity) vs proximal (high similarity) by two (social distance of a media type: distal (portal) vs. proximal (SNS)) by two (message construal: abstract vs concrete) laboratory experiment was conducted to examine attitude changes on ad messages. The results show that abstract messages were more effective in attitude toward advertisement and purchase intention under the distal social distance (i.e. advertising model in low-similarity and portal media type) while concrete messages were so under the proximal social distance and SNS media type.

An Analysis of Color Status and Image Evaluation of the Outdoor Advertisement for Improving the Outdoor Facade of Commercial Building Structure in Old Downtown Area (구도심가로변의 상업건축물 외부파사드 개선을 위한 옥외광고물의 색채현황 분석 및 이미지 평가)

  • This study is intended to formulate the issues through the status analysis and image evaluation for each street on the basis of colors for the outdoor advertisements for part of street side in the oldest downtown for its construction year. Analysing the business type of the street side, it displays the identity of the fashion business area and the color status shown on the outdoor advertisement did not consider the harmony on the other business type and building improvements that it displays chaotic street views in overall. Status of color for the outdoor advertisement compared and analyzed for each street-side to be analyzed with high color contrast with the building structure and outdoor advertisements than the Street B side where there are many businesses of fashion sundries and fashion clothes to form more complicated street scenery visually for the Street A side. The color combination principle of building structure and outdoor advertisement was shown to be the factor for the contrasting unity and diversity. In order not to stimulate this visual confusion, the colors of outdoor advertisement has to be applied on the basis of the color guideline based on the color combination principle of outdoor advertisement and building structure to have the aesthetic harmony overall. As a result of analysis using the KJ method, the present image of the old downtown area was shown with the adjective vocabularies of "complicated", "out-dated", "chaotic", "disorganized", "dirty", "suffocating", and "unilateral", and its image to strive for would be in a total of 6 adjective vocabularies of "well-arranged", "young", "dynamic", "sophisticated", "personable" and "neat", and it has presented the basic foundation of color guideline of outdoor advertisement fit for its image.

  • Various applications are developed with the extension of the smart phone market. This affects the change of contents and market for mobile advertisement. Mobile advertisement has been changed from the text type in feature phone environment to banner type which are added on the applications and branded app which are application itself for commercials. This research shows the difference in views between users and professions for the factors which affects the acceptance of mobile advertisement in smart phone environment. The analysis results present two groups have significant differences in the views for the users' acceptances of mobile advertisement. This research provides the important factors which need to be considers in creating mobile commercials. It also suggests that professions in advertisement field have to consider the aspects of smart phone users when they create advertisements in smart phone environment.
