Five equating methos for elective subjects of College Scholastic Ability Test were analyzed under a common-items nonequivalent groups design using a real data set of 110 thousand examinees. Five methods were (a)two-stage linear equating (b) two-stage equi-percentile equating (c) Tucker equating (d) Frequency estimation equating and (e)Braun-Holland equating. The results indicated that Frequency estimation equating fits well and two-stage linear equating produces most different equating results from the Frequency estimation equating.
Lee Shi Zhen(李時珍) raised a question in argument on the writer of Bao Ming Shi(保命集), which had been believed to be written by Liu Wan Su(劉完素), arguing that Bao Ming Shi(保命集), also called Huo Fa Ji Yao(活法機要), was written by Zhang Yuan Su(張完素). There were three representative arguments on the writer of Bao Ming Shi(保命集). One suggested that it was written by Zhang Yuan Su(張完素) while the other argued that it was definitely written by Liu Wan Su(劉完素). And another suggested thai it was edited by posterity by combinding the works of the former two miters. After this study, it was found that Bao Ming Shi(保命集) has Liu Wan Su(劉完素) and Zhang Yuan Su(張完素)'s unique medical thoughts in many descriptions resulting in controversial dispute. Through these arguments, a new hypothesis has been made that the third person who had studied Liu Wan Su(劉完素) and Zhang Yuan Su(張完素)'s medical thoughts wrote Bao Ming Shi(保命集). Liu Wan Su(劉完素) and Zhang Yuan Su(張完素) were quite different in medial thoughts and their works and they found different school, respectively. Therefore, if Bao Ming Shi(保命集) was written by Liu Wan Su(劉完素) or Zhang Yuan Su(張完素), it is impossiple that Bao Ming Shj(保命集) has the two medical thoughts in many descriptions. So, it is regarded reasonable to argue that the person who had aquainted with the two medical thoughts wrote this book. Then enother question can be raised : why the persion wrote Bao Ming Shi(保命集) which integrated the two medical thoughts and. The answer is as follows. Liu Wan Su(劉完素) and Zhang Yuan Su(張完素) became the rounders of He Jian(河間) school and Yi Shui(易水) school, respectively, which have considerably affected later generations, suggesting advanced medical theory. The medical thoughts suggested by the two were sure advanced compared with the former generation, but subjective and biased enough be critisized. So, it is thought that the third person wrote Bao Ming Shj(保命集) to recover those demerits and to describe more advanced medical theory. Zhongyi Xueshushi(中醫學術史) suggests that posterity edited Bao Ming Shi(保命集) by combinding Liu Wan Su(劉完素) and Zhang Yuan Su(張完素)'s works, which is different flam my suggestment. In above description, it is said that the two medical thoughts were quite different, but Bao Ming Shi(保命集) has well-understood medical thoughts containing the two medical thoughts in chaptor to chaptor, and well coincides from cover to cover, which shows that it is written by one person not edited by posterity. My hypothesis can admit other arguments on the writer of Bao Ming Shi(保命集), recover the bias of those argument and solve the questions raised in other arguments. Therefore, I suggest that the person, who was well aquainted with Liu Wan Su(劉完素) and Zhang Yuan Su(張完素)'s medical thoughts, wrote Bao Ming Shi(保命集) to describe more advanced and complete medical theory by amending the bias and taking the merits of the two medical thoughts.

Today, vast attention has been paid to periodic arrays of nanostructures due to their potential for applications such as memory with huge storage density. Such application requires large-scale fabrication of well ordered nano-sized structures. One of the most widely used methods for the ordered nanostructures is lithography. This top-down process, however, has the limit to reduce size. Here the promising alternative is the self-organization of ordered nano-sized structures such as large scale 2d carbon-induced reconstructions on W(110). In the present study, we report on the first well-resolved atomic resolution STM studies of the well-known R($15{\times}3$) and R($15{\times}12$) carbon induced reconstruction of the W(110). From the atomic image of R($15{\times}3$) for different values of tunneling gap resistance, we can tell there are no missing atoms in unit cells of R($15{\times}3$) and some atomic displacements are substantial from the clean W(110), even though not all the imaged position of atoms correspond to tungsten, but may include those of carbon. We are considering two cases; First case is related to lattice deformation, or top layer of W(110) is deformed in the process of relief of strain caused by random inserting of carbon atoms possibly in the interstitial position. In the second case, R($15{\times}3$) unit cell results from a coincidence lattice between clean W(110) substrate and tungsten carbide overlayer which has rectangular atomic arrangement and giving R($15{\times}3$) coincidence lattice. beta-W2C showing rectangular unit cell should be a candidate. Further, we report on new reconstructions. Unlike the well-known R($15{\times}12$) consisting of two parts, two inner structures between two "Backbone" structures. The new reconstruction, which we found for the first time, contains more parts between the "Backbone"s. Sometimes we can observe the reconstruction consists of only inner parts without "Backbone" parts. Thus, the observed reconstruction can be built by constructing of two types of "Lego"-like block. Moreover, the rectangle shape of "Backbone" transform to parallelogram-like shape over time, the so-called wavy-R($15{\times}12$). Adsorption of hydrogen can be the reason for this transformation.
Computer simulation has been widely used to design and optimize the operation of wastewater treatment plants since 1980. For secondary clarifiers, the simulation has been a tool to optimize the performance by providing dimensions for flocculation well. However, there has been no attempt to find the optimized geometrical parameters in circular secondary clarifier using simulation tools. In this study, three SVIs (Sludge Volume Indexes), two well types (feed and flocculation wells), 8 SWDs (Side Water Depths) and 9 bottom slopes were variables for simulation. Diurnal inflow and associated MLSS (Mixed Liquor Suspended Solid) concentrations were used for input loadings. When flocculation well was installed, 48% less concentration at lowest ESS (Effluent Suspended Solid) concentrations was produced and the diurnal ESS concentration range had been reduced by 52%. From these results, flocculation well must be installed to produce lower and stable ESS from circular secondary clarifiers. Under same loading conditions with $300m{\ell}$/g of SVI, The lowest ESS was produced when SWD was 4.5m with 4% of bottom slope. Therefore, SWD and bottom slope must not be deeper than 4.5m and must be near 4%, respectively, in circular clarifier with flocculation well to produce the lowest ESS concentration.
Purpose: This study was designed to examine the relationship between perceived entrapment to depression and subjective well-being of women as family caregivers caring for elderly dementia patients. Methods: One hundred and sixty-nine women family caregivers were recruited from two high schools located in Seoul, Korea for this descriptive study. The instruments used were The Entrapment Scale, The Center for Epidemiology Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) and Subjective well-being scale. Results: The score of perceived entrapment significantly correlated with depression and subjective well-being. The significant predictor of depression in women caregivers was perceived entrapment, 50.3% of the variance in depression. Also, perceived entrapment was predictor of subjective well-being in women caregivers, explaining 41.4% of the variance in depression. Conclusion: This study showed that perceived entrapment is an important predictor for depression and subjective well-being. Therefore, in order to reduce depression in women caregivers, it is necessary to design an intervention program that helps with coping and reduces perceived entrapment.
Purpose: This study was conducted to find out the effects of hospice care by evaluating the spiritual well-being and quality of life in the hospice and nonhospice patients. Method: The research design was composed of descriptive study. The data were collected using the questionnaire with interview from 30 hospice patients at three hospice institutes and 30 nonhospice patients at two general hospitals. The tools used for this study were 14-item questionnaire regarding general characteristics, a revised Spiritual Well-being Survey(Paloutzion and Ellision, 1982) and 22-item of revised Mcgill Quality of Life questionnaire. Result: The spiritual well-being of the hospice patients was higher than that of nonhospice patients(F=5.52, p=0.023). The global quality of life of the hospice patients was higher than that of nonhospice patients(F=8.84, p=0.004). There was a significant positive correlation between spiritual well-being and quality of life of the hospice patients and non hospice patients. Conclusion: The hospice care effects on spiritual well-being and quality of life of the terminal cancer patients.
This study investigates the effects of parent-adolescent communication, emotional intelligence and parentification on the psychological well-being of adolescents. Participants were 712 middle and high school students from Seoul. The collected data were analyzed through a Cronbach's $\alpha$, two-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and stepwise multiple regression. The results are as follows: 1) While parent-adolescent communication, parentification, and psychological well-being differed by grade, emotional intelligence did not differ by grade. 2) Father-adolescent communication, regulation of emotion, expression of emotion, practice of emotion, recognition of emotion and mother-adolescent communication were significant predictors of the psychological well-being of middle school students. 3) The recognition of emotion, father-adolescent communication, practice of emotion, regulation of emotion, and mother-adolescent communication were significant predictors of the psychological well-being of high school students. 4) Emotional intelligence played a partially mediating role in the relationship between parent-adolescent communication and psychological well-being.
Social capital theory provides a framework for analyzing the economic well-being. The purpose of this study is to analyze the age effect of social capital by comparing middle aged and the elderly, as well as to investigate the independent effects of social capital on their subjective economic well-being, respectively. The two concepts of "trust" and "social network" were used to measure the level of social capital. Comparisons between the age groups were made regarding the relationships between social capital and economic well-being of four age groups, including younger middle-aged, older middle-aged, younger elderly, and older elderly. Data from the $2^{nd}$ wave of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA) were used. The final sample for this analysis is 8,406 respondents aged 45~84. The major findings are as follows. First, the level of social capital, trust and social network, is statistically different by age groups. Second, the model fits in the case of model including social capital variables are all larger than their counterparts in the four age groups. Third, social capital is "resource" that can contribute to increasing the subjective economic well-being. Based on the empirical results, implications for welfare policies related with issues of social security for the elderly in Korea are provided.

The current study examined the relationships between disaster victims' post-trauma risk and posttraumatic growth, and the mediational role of social support for this relationships. In addition, we tested the hypothesis that income status would moderate the relationship between post-trauma risk and subjective well-being. Two hundred disaster victims completed Post-trauma Risk Checklist (PRC), Posttraumatic growth scale, Social support scale and Concise Measure of Subjective Well-Being (COMOSWB) as well as questions about their demographic characteristics. Results showed that those with high post-trauma risk demonstrated significantly higher levels of posttraumatic growth as compared to those with low post-trauma risk and social support partially mediated this relationship. Also, high levels of post-trauma risk predicted low levels of recent subjective well-being. Participants with high income obtained higher subjective well-being than did those with low income among high post-trauma risk groups. Implications for post-trauma risk and posttraumatic growth are discussed.
Purpose: This was a correlation study to identify the relationship of spiritual well-being, hope on fatigue in cancer patients on chemotherapy. Methods: The subjects completed structured questionnaires: the 'Spiritual Well-being Scale', developed by Paloutzian & Ellison, 'Hope Scale', developed by Kim & Lee and 'Fatigue Scale', developed by Mendoza et al. Data were collected from 120 patientsat two general hospitals and were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA & Sheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple stepwise regression. Results: Participants with higher fatigue had lower scores for hope (r=-.36, p<.001) and lower scores for spiritual well-being (r=-.23, p=.011). Participants with higher scores for hope had higher scores for spiritual well-being (r=.61, p<.001). The factors seen as contributing to fatigue were hope, financial burden of treatment, period of religious life, living with spouse, and reported pain. These variables explained 32.3% of the variance in fatigue. Hope with 13% was the most influential. Conclusion: The fatigue of the cancer patients on chemotherapy can be reduced if hope is improved, and hope can be improved if the spiritual well-being is improved. Therefore, we suggest developing a nursing intervention program that leads to improve hope and spiritual well-being of the cancer patients on chemotherapy for reducing fatigue.
