Cuckoo search optimization algorithm for boundary estimation problems in electrical impedance tomography

  • Estimating the phase boundary in two-phase flow is crucial for designing and optimizing industrial processes. Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is a promising technique for imaging phase distribution in such flows. This paper proposes using a cuckoo search (CS) optimization algorithm to estimate the phase boundary with EIT. The boundary is parameterized using the Fourier series, and the coefficients are determined by the CS algorithm. The CS algorithm iteratively seeks the phase boundary configuration by minimizing a cost function. Computer simulations and phantom experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of this method in estimating phase boundaries in two-phase flow.

특징벡터의 끌러스터링 기법을 통한 2단계 내용기반 이미지검색 시스템 (Two-phase Content-based Image Retrieval Using the Clustering of Feature Vector)

  • 내용기반 이미지검색이란 색상, 형태 및 질감 등의 저-수준 특징정보를 이용하여 이미지 데이터베이스를 구축하고, 이미지에 대한 검색요구가 발생했을 때 사용자가 찾고자 하는 이미지와 유사한 이미지를 제공하는 시스템으로 정의된다. 데이터베이스의 구축시간과 사용자가 질의를 입력한 후 결과를 얻을 때까지의 반응시간을 나누어 고려할 때, 사용자는 반응시간에 보다 관심을 갖는 것이 일반적이다. 내용기반 이미지검색 시스템에서 질의이미지와 데이터베이스 내의 이미지와의 유사도 비교시간이 전체 반응시간 중에서 가장 큰 비중을 차지한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 유사도 비교시간을 최소화하기 위해 특징벡터의 클러스터링 기법을 적용한 2단계 탐색방법을 제안한다. 실험 결과를 통해 제안하는 2단계 탐색방법으로 대용량의 이미지 데이터베이스 내의 전체 이미지에 대한 원 특징정보와 비교하는 전체검색에 비해, 동일한 적합성을 보장하면서 평균적으로 2배 이상의 검색속도 향상을 확인하였으며, 이미지의 수가 더욱 커질수록 효과적임을 입증하였다.

  • This paper presents a two-phase method for the vehicle routing problems with time windows(VRPTW). In a supply chain management(SCM) environment, timely distribution is very important problem faced by most industries. The VRPTW is associated with SCM for each customer to be constrained the time of service. In the VRPTW, the objective is to design the least total travel time routes for a fleet of identical capacitated vehicles to service geographically scattered customers with pre-specified service time windows. The proposed approach is based on ant colony optimization(ACO) and improvement heuristic. In the first phase, an insertion based ACO is introduced for the route construction and its solutions is improved by an iterative random local search in the second phase. Experimental results show that the proposed two-phase method obtains very good solutions with respect to total travel time minimization.

  • 관망상배관(Looped networks)시스템에서 관수로시스템의 전체비용은 폐회로유량(Loop flows)에 따라 영향을 받는다. 따라서 관망상배관의 최적설계를 위한 수학적모형을 추계학적 최적화방법에 적용하기 위하여 폐회로유량의 섭동(Perturbations)으로 전체비용이 변하게 하였다. 관망상 배관문제의 분석가능영역은 수많은 국지해(Local optimum)를 갖는 비볼록(Nonconvex)이므로 분석가능영역의 효율적인 심사를 위하여 수정추계학적 심사방법을 제안하였으며 이 방법은 국부심사단계(Global search phase)와 국지심사단계(Local search phase)로 구성되어 있다. 국부탐사에서는 점차적으로 국지해를 증진시키며 국지탐사에서는 국부탐사단계에서 교착상태에 있는 국지해로 부터 벗어나게 하거나 최종국지해를 증진시킨다. 제안한 방법의 효율성을 검정하기 위하여 참고문헌에 있는 기존관수로시스템의 병열관로(Parallel pipe line) 확장문제를 표본으로 채택하여 제안한 방법을 적용한 결과 먼저 발표된 연구자들의 비용보다 적은 비용으로 설계할 수 있었다.

GPS를 이용한 자세 측정 시스템의 미지정수 결정기법 (An Integer Ambiguity Resolution Method for GPS Attitude Determination)

  • The attitude of a vehicle can be precisely determined using GPS carrier phase measurements from more than two antennas attached to a vehicle and an efficient integer ambiguity resolution technique. Many methods utilizing the known baseline length as a constraint of independent elements of integer ambiguities are proposed to resolve integer ambiguity at real time. Three-dimensional search space is reduced to two-dimensional search space with this constraint. Thus the true integer ambiguity can be easily determined with less computational burden and fewer number of measurements. But there are still strong requirements for the real time integer ambiguity resolution, which uses single epoch measurement of long baseline. In this paper, a new constraint from the geometry of multiple baselines is derived. With this new constraint, two-dimensional search space is further reduced to one-dimensional search space. It makes possible to determine integer ambiguity with single epoch measurement. The proposed method is applied to real data to show its effectiveness.

  • This paper presents a two- phase search scheme for optimal pipe expansion of expansion of existing water distribution systems. In pipe network problems, link flows affect the total cost of the system because the link flows are not uniquely determined for various pipe diameters. The two-phase search scheme based on stochastic optimization scheme is suggested to determine the optimal link flows which make the optimal design of existing pipe network. A sample pipe network is employed to test the proposed method. Once the best tree network is obtained, the link flows are perturbed to find a near global optimum over the whole feasible region. It should be noted that in the perturbation stage the loop flows obtained form the sample existing network are employed as the initial loop flows of the proposed method. It has been also found that the relationship of cost-hydraulic gradient for pipe expansion of existing network affects the total cost of the sample network. The results show that the proposed method can yield a lower cost design than the conventional design method and that the proposed method can be efficiently used to design the pipe expansion of existing water distribution systems.

A Geometrical Center based Two-way Search Heuristic Algorithm for Vehicle Routing Problem with Pickups and Deliveries

  • The classical vehicle routing problem (VRP) can be extended by including customers who want to send goods to the depot. This type of VRP is called the vehicle routing problem with pickups and deliveries (VRPPD). This study proposes a novel way to solve VRPPD by introducing a two-phase heuristic routing algorithm which consists of a clustering phase and uses the geometrical center of a cluster and route establishment phase by applying a two-way search of each route after applying the TSP algorithm on each route. Experimental results show that the suggested algorithm can generate better initial solutions for more computer-intensive meta-heuristics than other existing methods such as the giant-tour-based partitioning method or the insertion-based method.

  • 라이브 음악 또는 리메이크를 통해서 재발매된 음악을 원곡의 커버곡이라 부른다. 본 논문은 고속 커버곡 검색을 위한 특징 축약을 위해 2차원 퓨리에 변환을 이용하는 방법을 연구하였다. 이차원 퓨리에 변환은 조변화에 대해서 불변성을 가지고 있으므로, 커버곡 검색을 위한 특징 축약 방법으로 적합하다. 기존 퓨리에 변환 방법에서는 크기값 만을 활용하였으나, 본 논문에서는 인접한 크로마 블록은 같은 조변화를 가진다는 가정하에 위상 정보를 추가로 활용하는 방법을 제안하였다. 두 가지 커버곡 실험 데이터셋에서 성능 비교를 수행하였으며, 제안된 방법이 기존 방법에 비해서 우수한 커버곡 검색 정확도를 보임을 확인하였다.

전력계통에서 동조탐색과 광역진동해석 (Analysis of Global Oscillation via Sync Search in Power Systems)

  • The present study explained the phenomenon that low frequency oscillation is synchronized with discrete data obtained from a wide area system, and a sync search method. When a disturbance occurs in an power system, various controllers operate in order to maintain synchronization. If the system's damping is poor, low frequency oscillations continue for a long time and the oscillations are synchronized with one another at specific frequency. The present study estimated dominant modes, magnitude and phase of signals by applying parameter estimation methods to discrete signals obtained from an power system, and performed sync search among wide area signals by comparing the estimated data. Sync search was performed by selecting those with the same frequency and damping constant from dominant oscillation modes included in a large number of signals, and comparing their magnitude and phase. In addition, we defined sync indexes in order to indicate the degree of sync between areas in a wide area system. Furthermore, we proposed a wide area sync search method by normalizing mode magnitude in discrete data obtained from critical generator of the wide area. By applying the sync search method and sync indexes proposed in this study to two area systems, we demonstrated that sync scanning can be performed for discrete signals obtained from power systems.

해양 유·무인 수상함정의 감시정찰 임무를 위한 위치-경로 문제 (Location-Routing Problem for Reconnaissance Surveillance Missions of the Maritime Manned-Unmanned Surface Vehicles)

  • As technologies have been more quickly developed in this 4th Industry Revolution era, their application to defense industry has been also growing. With these much advanced technologies, we attempt to use Manned-Unmanned Teaming systems in various military operations. In this study, we consider the Location-Routing Problem for reconnaissance surveillance missions of the maritime manned-unmanned surface vehicles. As a solution technique, the two-phase method is presented. In the first location phase, the p-median problem is solved to determine which nodes are used as the seeds for the manned vehicles using Lagrangian relaxation with the subgradient method. In the second routing phase, using the results obtained from the location phase, the Vehicle Routing Problems are solved to determine the search routes of the unmanned vehicles by applying the Location Based Heuristic. For three network data sets, computational experiments are conducted to show the performance of the proposed two-phase method.
