In order to control hydration heat in mass concrete, pipe cooling method has been widely used. The pipe cooling method leads to the decrease of curing period by lagging materials as well as the decrease of temperature difference between center and surface of mass concrete member, There are two methods in the pipe cooling system, which are open loop system and closed loop system. However open loop pipe cooling system cannot be applied to the mass concrete structures when cooling water supply is difficult. To control hydration heat of high strength mass foundation in the central area of city, closed loop pipe cooling system was developed to solve the cooling water supply. This paper reports the performance results of hydration heat control with closed loop pipe cooling system.

Thermodynamic cycle analysis has been performed to maximize the liquid amount for two hydrogen liquefaction systems using two-stage GM(Gifford-McMahon) refrigerator. the optimal operating conditions have been analytically sought with real properties of normal hydrogen for the two-stage GM direct contact system and the two-stage GM precooled L-H (Linde-Hampson) system. In the precooled system, there existed optimal values for compressed mass flow and compressed pressure to maximize the liquefied mass. It was recommended to use a cryocooler, which had a large precooling capacity between 70 and 100K.
In the 2-mass system with flexible shaft, a torsional vibration is often generated because of the elastic elements in torque transmission as the newly required speed response which is very close to the primary resonant frequency. This vibration makes it difficult to achieve quick responses of speed and disturbance rejection. In this paper, 2-mass system is designed by using pole placement based on optimal control theory fur fast speed response and torsional vibration elimination and using neural network for disturbance rejection in particular. The simulation results show that the proposed controller based on neural network and full state feedback controller has better performance than 려ll state feedback controller, especially fur disturbance rejection.

Impingement/effusion cooling technique is used for combustor liner or turbine parts cooling in gas turbine engine. In the impingement/effusion cooling system, the crossflow generated in the cooling channel induces an adverse effect on the cooling performance, which consequently affects the durability of the cooling system. In the present study, to reduce the adverse effect of the crossflow and improve the cooling performance, circular pin fins are installed in impingement/effusion cooling system and the heat transfer characteristics are investigated. The pin fins are installed between two perforated plates and the crossflow passes between these two plates. A blowing ratio is changed from 0.5 to 1.5 for the fixed jet Reynolds number of 10,000 and five circular pin fin arrangements are considered in this study. The local heat/mass transfer coefficients on the effusion plate are measured using a naphthalene sublimation method. The results show that local distributions of heat/mass transfer coefficient are changed due to the installation of pin fins. Due to the generation of vortex and wake by the pin fin, locally low heat/mass transfer regions are reduced. Moreover, the pin fin prevents the wall jet from being swept away, resulting in the increase of heat/mass transfer. When the pin fin is installed in front of the impinging let, the blockage effect on the crossflow enhances the heat/mass transfer. However, the pin fin installed just behind the impinging jet blocks up the wall jet, decreasing the heat/mass transfer. As the blowing ratio increases, the pin fins lead to the higher Sh value compared to the case without pin fins, inducing $16\%{\~}22\%$ enhancement of overall Sh value at high blowing ratio of M=1.5.
The paper describes localization of deformation in a bar under tensile loading. The material of the bar is considered as non-linear viscous elastic and the bar consists of two symmetric halves. It is assumed that the model represents behavior of the quasi-brittle viscous material under uniaxial tension with different loading rates. Besides that, the bar could represent uniaxial stress-strain law on a single plane of a microplane material model. Non-linear material property is taken from the microplane material model and it is coupled with the viscous damper producing non-linear Maxwell material model. Mathematically, the problem is described with a system of two partial differential equations with a non-linear algebraic constraint. In order to obtain solution, the system of differential algebraic equations is transformed into a system of three partial differential equations. System is subjected to loadings of different rate and it is shown that localization occurs only for high loading rates. Mathematically, in such a case two solutions are possible: one without the localization (unstable) and one with the localization (stable one). Furthermore, mass is added to the bar and in that case the problem is described with a system of four differential equations. It is demonstrated that for high enough loading rates, it is the added mass that dominates the response, in contrast to the viscous and elastic material parameters that dominated in the case without mass. This is demonstrated by several numerical examples.
A proper physical modeling of infilled building frame-foundation beam-soil mass interaction system is needed to predict more realistic and accurate structural behavior under static vertical loading. This is achieved via finite element method considering the superstructure, foundation and soil mass as a single integral compatible structural unit. The physical modelling is achieved via use of finite element method, which requires the use of variety of isoparametric elements with different degrees of freedom. The unbounded domain of the soil mass has been discretized with coupled finite-infinite elements to achieve computational economy. The nonlinearity of soil mass plays an important role in the redistribution of forces in the superstructure. The nonlinear behaviour of the soil mass is modeled using hyperbolic model. The incremental-iterative nonlinear solution algorithm has been adopted for carrying out the nonlinear elastic interaction analysis of a two-bay two-storey infilled building frame. The frame and the infill have been considered to behave in linear elastic manner, whereas the subsoil in nonlinear elastic manner. In this paper, the computational methodology adopted for nonlinear soil-structure interaction analysis of infilled frame-foundation-soil system has been presented.
A H$\_$.inf./ contro theory was applied to motor speed control of two-mass system to get controller which acts effectively with control object including uncertainties. The H$\_$.inf./ control problem was composed and solved. After that, numerical simulation were executed to confirm ability of the controller which compared with PI controller.
A planet revolving around binary star system is a familiar system. Studies of these systems are important because they provide precise knowledge of planet formation and orbit evolution. In this study, a method to determine the evolution of an exoplanet revolving around a binary star system using different rates of stellar mass loss will be introduced. Using a hierarchical triple body system, in which the outer body can be moved with the center of mass of the inner binary star as a two-body problem, the long period evolution of the exoplanet orbit is determined depending on a Hamiltonian formulation. The model is simulated by numerical integrations of the Hamiltonian equations for the system over a long time. As a conclusion, the behavior of the planet orbital elements is quite affected by the rate of the mass loss from the accompanying binary star.

Vibration absorber is used to protect the primary system from steady-state harmonic disturbance. By attaching the absorber to the primary system which is modeled as a SDOF system, the new system becomes two DOF system. Depending on the driving frequency on the original system, the absorber needs to be carefully tuned, that is, to choose adequate value of the absorber mass and stiffness, so that the motion of the original mass is a minimum. This paper presents the effects of resonance frequency ratio and of vibration absorber with oil damper and coil spring for linear damped primary systems.

In this study, a cycle simulation program of a Unit-Injection(UI) system was developed to estimate the injection performance of newly designed injection system. A fundamental theory of the simulation program is based on the conservation law of mass. Loss of fuel mass in the system due to leakage, compressibility effect of the liquid fuel and friction loss in the control volume was considered in the algorithm f the program. For the evaluation of the simulation program developed, the experimental result which was offered by the Technical Research Center of Doowon Precision Industry Co. was incorporated. Two main parameters; the maximum pressure in the plunger chamber and total fuel mass(kg) injected into the engine cylinder per cycle, were measured and compared with the simulation results. It was found that the maximum error rate of the simulation result to the experimental output was less than 3% in the rated rotational speed (rpm) range of the plunger cam.
