The laminar boundary layer along a streamwise corner formed by two flat plates intersecting at right angle is measured by using Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV) technique. The free stream velocity ranges from 2.96m/s to 3.0m/s. The angle of incidence of the corner is set to 1.2 degree providing slightly favourable pressure gradient to ensure a laminar flow in the corner region. A round shape leading edge is used and the length of the model is about 1000mm. In the bisector plane, the measurement data show separation type velocity profiles having an inflection point which is a typical characteristic of laminar corner boundary layers. As the distance away from the bisector plane increases, velocity profiles are found to change into the Blasius profile. The change completes around half length of the boundary layer thickness in the bisector plane away from the bisector plane along the plate. In the bisector plane, the growth characteristic of the boundary layer thickness and the approximate similarity of velocity profiles are confirmed from the measurement data.

This paper proposes a CNN accelerator which is optimized Pooling layer operation incorporated in Multiplication And Accumulation(MAC) to reduce the memory size. For optimizing memory and data path circuit, the quantized 8bit integer weights are used instead of 32bit floating-point weights for pre-training of MNIST data set. To reduce chip area, the proposed CNN model is reduced by a convolutional layer, a 4*4 Max Pooling, and two fully connected layers. And all the operations use specific MAC with approximation adders and multipliers. 94% of internal memory size reduction is achieved by simultaneously performing the convolution and the pooling operation in the proposed architecture. The proposed accelerator chip is designed by using TSMC65nmGP CMOS process. That has about half size of our previous paper, 0.8*0.9 = 0.72mm2. The presented CNN accelerator chip achieves 94% accuracy and 77us inference time per an MNIST image.
Half Value Layer calculations theoretically need prior specification of linear attenuation calculations, since the HVL value is derived by dividing ln(2) by the linear attenuation coefficient. The purpose of this study was to establish a direct computational model for determining HVL, a vital parameter in nuclear radiation safety studies and shielding material design. Accordingly, a typical gamma-ray transmission setup has been modeled using MCNPX (version 2.4.0) general-purpose Monte Carlo code. The MCNPX code's INPUT file was designed with two detection locations for primary and secondary gamma-rays, as well as attenuator material between those detectors. Next, Half Value Layer values of some well-known gamma-ray shielding materials such as lead and ordinary concrete have been calculated throughout a broad gamma-ray energy range. The outcomes were then compared to data from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The Half Value Layer values obtained from MCNPX were reported to be highly compatible with the HVL values obtained from the NIST standard database. Our results indicate that the developed INPUT file may be utilized for direct computations of Half Value Layer values for nuclear safety assessments as well as medical radiation applications. In conclusion, advanced simulation methods such as the Monte Carlo code are very powerful and useful instruments that should be considered for daily radiation safety measures. The modeled MCNPX input file will be provided to the scientific community upon reasonable request.

For the improvement of water quality in a harbor, several studies have been carried out on SEB (Seawater Exchange Breakwater) in recent years, but a problem has been shown whereby the water on the inside area far from the SEB cannot be easily exchanged. In order to solve the problem of the SEB, the Manifold channel, a new concept of the SEB, is introduced in this paper. By using the manifold channel, it is possible to exchange the water of the inside area for seawater from the outside. Here, to assess the outflow gates of the manifold channel governing flow behavior, a virtual manifold channel controlled the location, width and direction of outflow gates applied to the Jumunjin fishery port, where the SEB has been established. In addition, the desirable flow pattern of the port by utilizing the two layer current model is identified, and five general cases of the manifold channel are described in this paper. The model is verified by comparing with observation of the SEB model, and the results are in general agreement. From the results of the manifold channel, in the case of the Jumunjin fishery port, the small circulation of counter clockwise is necessary for the water exchange on the inside area, but it should be controlled by the outflow gates for other areas. Using the two layer current model, the desirable flow pattern of the port can be predicted, and the water exchange for the upper and lower layer can be examined. For the practical use of the manifold channel, further studies on the manifold channel will be necessary, and it may then be used broadly for the design of breakwater in the future.
A Photochemical-Trajectory model was used to understand the production of ozone in the atmospheric boundary layer. This model was composed of the trajectory and the photochemical models. To calculate trajectories of air parcels, winds were obtained from the three-dimensional nonhydrostatic mesoscale model (PSU/NCAR MM5V2), and the results were interpolated into constant height surfaces. Numerical integration in the trajectory model was performed by the Runge-Kutta method. The photochemical model consisted of chemical reactions and photodissociation processes. Chemical equations were integrated by the semi-implicit Bulirsch-Stoer method. We performed our experiments from 21 July to 23 July 1994 during the summer time for Seoul area. During the time of maximum ozone concentration in Seoul, four trajectories of air parcels which traveled from Inchon to Seoul were selected. Ozone concentrations estimated by two models are compared with observed one in Seoul area and the photochemical-trajectory model is better fitted than pure photochemical model. During the selected period, high ozone concentrations in Seoul area were more influenced by transferred pollutants from Inchon than emitted pollutants in Seoul.
This paper represents a numerical study of the flow field due to the interactions between a pair of vortices produced by vortex generators in a rectangular channel flow. In order to analyze longitudinal vortices induced by the vortex generators, the pseudo-compressibility method is introduced into the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Strokes equations of a 3-dimensional unsteady, incompressible viscous flow. A two-layer $k-{\epsilon}$ turbulence model is applied to a flat plate 3-dimensional turbulence boundary to predict the flow structure and turbulence characteristics of the vortices. The computational results predict accurately the vortex characteristics related to the flow field, the Reynolds shear stresses and turbulent kinetic energy. Also, in the prediction of skin friction characteristics the computational results are reasonably close to those of the experiment obtained from other researchers.
The physical model considered here is a horizontal layer of fluid heated below and cold above with heat-generating conducting body placed at the center of the layer. The dimensionless thermal conductivities of body considered in the present study are 0.01, 1 and 150. The dimensionless temperature difference ratios considered are 0.25, 2.5 and 25. Two-dimensional solution for unsteady natural convection is obtained using an accurate and efficient Chebyshev spectral methodology for variety of Rayleigh number from $10^{3}$ to $10^{6}$. Multi-domain technique is used to handle square-shaped heat-generating conducting body. The results for the case of conducting body with heat generation are also compared to those without heat generation.

The nature of the cavity region and dispersion around trianglular ridge was investigated using model. The artifical neutral boundary layer was simulated in water channel. Two dimensional trianglar ridges, having height of 1.2 cm and various width were placed normal to the flow. Mean velocity with many dimensionless parameters were measured and compared with wind tunnel results by other studies. Using vorticity generator and roughness, the neutral boundary layer was well represented by the water channel. concentration patterns resulting from dye source placed 0.2 cm height above were examined. Narrower the trianglar ridge width resulted in increased amplification factor and the larges amplification factor was observed near downward top of the ridge.

The effects of air temperature and sample thickness on drying kinetics of strawberry leather were investigated. The mathematical modeling was performed by using three thin-layer dying models. The independent variables were sample thickness (S1 = 1.8, S2 = 2.7, and S3 = 3.6mm) and air temperature (50, 60, 70, and 80$^{\circ}$C). All samples took place in the falling rate period. The values of effective moisture diffusivity, D$_{eff}$ varied from 2.40 to 12.1$^{\times}$10-9m$^{2}$/s depending on drying conditions. The values of activation energy, E$_{a}$ were 35.57, 33.14, and 30.46 KJ/mol for each sample of S1, S2, and S3. The two-term exponential model was found to satisfactorily describe the thin-layer drying kinetics of strawberry leather.

Numerical simulations have been conducted to characterize unsteady flow structures in an axisymmetric supersonic inlet diffuser with sinusoidal pressure oscillations at the diffuser exit. The formulation is based on the unsteady Navier-Stokes equations and turbulence closure is achieved using a two-layer model with a too-Reynolds-number scheme for the near-wall treatment. The governing equations are formulated in an integral form, and are discretized by the four-stage Runge-Kutta scheme for temporal terms and the Harten-Yee upwind TVD scheme for convective terms. Results indicated that the inlet shock characteristics are significantly modified by acoustic oscillations originating from the combustor. The characteristics of shock/boundarv-layer interactions (such as the size of separation bubble, terminal shock shape, and vorticity intensity) are also greatly iufluenced by the shock oscillation due to acoustic waves.
