더블팬케이크 권선형 10kVA 고온초전도 변압기 (10kVA high $T_c$ Superconducting Power Transformer with Double Pancake Windings)

  • This paper presents the design and test results of a 10kVA single phase HTS transformer which is operating at 77K. Double pancake windings with BSCCO -2223 HTS tape and GFRP cryostat with room temperature bore are used in the transformer. Four double pan cake windings were used in pancake windings are connected in parallel to conduct the secondary current of 45.4A. the rated voltages of each winding are 440/220V. Numerical calculation using Finite Element Method was used to evaluated the performance of each arrangement. Considering the magnetizing reactance, leakage reactance, electrical insulation and the circulating current in low voltage winding which had two windings in parallel, HLLH arrangement was finally chosen. Estimation of the AC loss, magnetizing loss and self field loss, in the design stage, where effects of perpendicular field and parallel field are considered. Room temperature bore type cryostat has been constructed and its heat loss was measured.

  • This paper presents a high-efficiency Switch Mode Line Transformer (SMLT) composed of load-shared dual modules, which is based on the AC/AC LLC resonant converter. Given that the conventional adaptor is usually composed of two power stages, namely, the PFC and DC/DC converters, its system size can be increased according to the output power. However, given that the proposed SMLT can separate the PFC converter from the adaptor, the size reduction of the system can be achieved. Meanwhile, the SMLT with a single module has the limit of the size reduction because of a high resonant current. Thus, it can be configured with dual or multiple modules to reduce the resonant current. Then, their load sharing can be guaranteed by only the proposed transformer structure without an extra current controller. The validity of the proposed converter is proven through a 850-W prototype.

세라믹 분말을 이용한 오일 기지 나노유체의 열적거동 평가 (Evaluation of Thermal Behavior of Oil-based Nanofluids using Ceramic Nanoparticles)

  • Oil-based nanofluids were prepared by dispersing spherical and fiber shaped $Al_2O_3$ and AlN nanoparticles in transformer oil. Two hydrophobic surface modification processes using oleic acid (OA) and polyoxyethylene alkyl acid ester (PAAE) were compared in this study. The dispersion stability, viscosity and breakdown voltage of the nanofluids were also characterized. $(Al_2O_3+AlN)$ mixed nanofluid was prepared to take an advantage of the excellent thermal conductivity of AlN and a good convective heat transfer property of fiber shaped $Al_2O_3$. For $(Al_2O_3+AlN)$ particles with 1 % volume fraction in oil, the enhancement of thermal conductivity and convective heat transfer coefficient was nearly 11 % and 30 %, respectively, compared to pure transformer oil. The nanofluid, containing $Al_2O_3+AlN$, successfully lowered the temperature of the heating element and oil itself during a natural convection test using a prototype transformer.

  • 본 연구에서는 미분무수 소화시스템의 변압기에 대한 냉각성능을 기술한다. 재발화를 방지하기 위한 냉각성능은 변압기의 철심으로부터 절연유에 전달되어 축적된 열에너지를 효과적으로 소산시키는 것을 의미한다. 철심이 매우 무겁기 때문에 축소 규모의 변압기를 이용하여 실험을 수행하였고, 이 결과로부터 냉각시간을 결정하기 위하여 상사해석을 수행하였다. 해석 및 실험을 통한 상사법칙으로부터 재발화 방지를 위한 미분무수 소화시스템의 소화시간은 약 12시간으로 나타났다.

자동 뼈 연령 평가를 위한 비전 트랜스포머와 손 X 선 영상 분석 (Unleashing the Potential of Vision Transformer for Automated Bone Age Assessment in Hand X-rays)

  • Bone age assessment is a crucial task in pediatric radiology for assessing growth and development in children. In this paper, we explore the potential of Vision Transformer, a state-of-the-art deep learning model, for bone age assessment using X-ray images. We generate heatmap outputs using a pre-trained Vision Transformer model on a publicly available dataset of hand X-ray images and show that the model tends to focus on the overall hand and only the bone part of the image, indicating its potential for accurately identifying the regions of interest for bone age assessment without the need for pre-processing to remove background noise. We also suggest two methods for extracting the region of interest from the heatmap output. Our study suggests that Vision Transformer holds great potential for bone age assessment using X-ray images, as it can provide accurate and interpretable output that may assist radiologists in identifying potential abnormalities or areas of interest in the X-ray image.

Music Transformer 기반 음악 정보의 가중치 변형을 통한 멜로디 생성 모델 구현 (Implementation of Melody Generation Model Through Weight Adaptation of Music Information Based on Music Transformer)

  • In this paper, we propose a new model for the conditional generation of music, considering key and rhythm, fundamental elements of music. MIDI sheet music is converted into a WAV format, which is then transformed into a Mel Spectrogram using the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT). Using this information, key and rhythm details are classified by passing through two Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), and this information is again fed into the Music Transformer. The key and rhythm details are combined by differentially multiplying the weights and the embedding vectors of the MIDI events. Several experiments are conducted, including a process for determining the optimal weights. This research represents a new effort to integrate essential elements into music generation and explains the detailed structure and operating principles of the model, verifying its effects and potentials through experiments. In this study, the accuracy for rhythm classification reached 94.7%, the accuracy for key classification reached 92.1%, and the Negative Likelihood based on the weights of the embedding vector resulted in 3.01.

동축선을 이용한 광대역 전력 분배기 (Wideband Power Divider Using a Coaxial Cable)

  • 높은 전력과 광대역에서 동작하는 동축선을 이용한 임피던스 트랜스포머는 추가적인 동축선을 이용하면 다양한 임피던스 변환 비율을 가질 수 있다. 50-${\Omega}$ to 25-${\Omega}$의 임피던스 변환 비율의 동축선 임피던스 트랜스포머에 50-${\Omega}$ 선로 두 개를 25-${\Omega}$ 지점에 병렬 연결하면 쉽게 광대역에서 동작하는 전력 분배기를 제작할 수 있다. 이런 동축선을 이용한 광대역 전력 분배기는 두 개의 출력 단자의 단자 정합 특성과 출력 단자사이의 격리 특성이 매우 낮아 개선이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 단일 종단 여파기 설계 방식을 이용하여 동축선을 사용한 전력 분배기의 단자 정합 특성과 격리 특성을 개선하였다. 먼저, 저주파 대역 통과 단일 종단 여파기 계수를 이용하여 ADS 시뮬레이션을 통해 2-way 전력 분배기의 정합 단자 수와 Ripple에 따른 동작 특성을 살펴보았고, 종단 정합이 없는 전력 분배기와 2단 정합과 4단 정합을 가지는 전력 분배기를 제작하여 출력 단자의 정합 특성 및 격리 특성의 개선 정도를 살펴보았다.

Analysis of a Harmonics Neutralized 48-Pulse STATCOM with GTO Based Voltage Source Converters

  • Multi-pulse topology of converters using elementary six-pulse GTO - VSC (gate turn off based voltage source converter) operated under fundamental frequency switching (FFS) control is widely adopted in high power rating static synchronous compensators (STATCOM). Practically, a 48-pulse ($6{\times}8$ pulse) configuration is used with the phase angle control algorithm employing proportional and integral (PI) control methodology. These kinds of controllers, for example the ${\pm}80MVAR$ compensator at Inuyama switching station, KEPCO, Japan, employs two stages of magnetics viz. intermediate transformers (as many as VSCs) and a main coupling transformer to minimize harmonics distortion in the line and to achieve a desired operational efficiency. The magnetic circuit needs altogether nine transformers of which eight are phase shifting transformers (PST) used in the intermediate stage, each rating equal to or more than one eighth of the compensator rating, and the other one is the main coupling transformer having a power rating equal to that of the compensator. In this paper, a two-level 48-pulse ${\pm}100MVAR$ STATCOM is proposed where eight, six-pulse GTO-VSC are employed and magnetics is simplified to single-stage using four transformers of which three are PSTs and the other is a normal transformer. Thus, it reduces the magnetics to half of the value needed in the commercially available compensator. By adopting the simple PI-controllers, the model is simulated in a MATLAB environment by SimPowerSystems toolbox for voltage regulation in the transmission system. The simulation results show that the THD levels in line voltage and current are well below the limiting values specified in the IEEE Std 519-1992 for harmonic control in electrical power systems. The controller performance is observed reasonably well during capacitive and inductive modes of operation.

광대역 동축선로 임피던스 변환회로의 동작 특성 분석 (The analysis of the operating characteristic for the wideband coaxial line impedance transformer)

  • 두 개 이상의 동축선을 사용하여 한 쪽은 동축선을 직렬로 연결하고, 반대 쪽은 동축선을 병렬로 연결하면 광대역에서 동작하는 임피던스 변환회로가 된다. 동축선을 이용한 광대역 임피던스 변환회로는 동축선의 외곽 도체를 임피던스 변환에 이용하기 때문에 수식 또는 시뮬레이션 프로그램을 통한 예측이 매우 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 ${\lambda}/4$-마이크로스트립 선로 임피던스 변환회로의 선로 신호 감쇄에 대한 전달 특성(S21) 해석을 바탕으로 $25{\Omega}$ 동축선 두 개를 이용한 광대역 4:1($50{\Omega}:12.5{\Omega}$) 전송선로 임피던스 변환회로를 제작하여 동작 특성을 살펴보았다. 두 개의 동축선을 이용한 광대역 임피던스 변환기는 동축선의 길이를 90도(${\lambda}/4$)로 인식하는 주파수에서 신호 전달 특성(S21)이 급격히 감소하는 노치 특성이 발생하였다. 또한, 동축선 길이의 $0.06{\sim}0.2{\lambda}$에 해당하는 주파수 범위에서 신호 전달특성(S21) -0.2dB 이내의 값을 가졌다. 이러한 신호 전달특성(S21)은 출력 단에 연결된 마이크로스트립 선로의 길이 변화를 통해 약간의 동작 주파수 범위 변화와 원하는 주파수에서 최적의 신호 전달특성(S21)을 설정할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Reduction of Components in Cascaded Transformer Multilevel Inverter Using Two DC Sources

  • In this paper a novel cascaded transformer multilevel inverter is proposed. Each basic unit of the inverter includes two DC sources, single phase transformers and semiconductor switches. This inverter, which operates as symmetric and asymmetric, can output more number of voltage levels in the same number of the switching devices. Besides, the number of gate driving circuits is reduced, which leads to circuit size reduction and lower power consumption in the driving circuits. Moreover, several methods to determination of transformers turn ratio in proposed inverter are presented. Theoretical analysis, simulation results using MATLAB/SIMULINK and experimental results are provided to verify the operation of the suggested inverter.
